I tried muting it and listening to Merrill but the radio feed is a few seconds before the TV feed
Bradley had a nice tackle of Parker there
Simms blows every QB he sees, i wonder if he still cries like a baby
Nice pressure so far
great, back to back plays, Mcnabb gets driven into the ground and his shoulder bothers him and Westbrook bends his ankle the wrong direction limps of, it didnt look good
Westbrooks hurt fucccccccccckkkkkkk
Westy and Dmac ..looked banged up :o
Westbrook going in for xrays
Cup = not ours
Donovan looks gassed

Wow, SuperBuck
TOUCHDOWN BUCKHALTER!
Be careful out there CBuck, we've already lost two RBs in this game.
reid better not forget to use buck and booker.
by that i mean run the ball still even with westbrook out.
clemons sighting!
OFF SIDES
Clemmons is a waste
The Eagles look like the better team, but the injuries and stupidity are piling up.
Looks like he stuck with the run during that last drive...and of course the short passes
can we please get rid of the flea flicker for good?
time for a new TRICK play reid. you dont have to use the same one over and over...its no longer a trick play.
how about a HB OPTION ala ronnie brown from earlier today?
I didnt realize until yesterday Brent Celek's brother plays for Michigan State
I think CBS farged up, no Simms :)
No announcers... this has become the best CBS broadcast ever.

Nice throw/catch Donny to Pimp
no FB isnt a good thing against a team like pittsburgh.
LJ farging sucks, get teh farg out of town you waste. it was low, but he cant catch shtein when it counts
not really a bad pass but a hard catch to make. but we know even if it was easy LJ would have dropped it.
first incomplete pass for mcnabb.
CBS has that weird angle behind the goal post....made it look like they missed it.
defense need to make sure steelers don't score anymore going into the half.
LJ sucks, I've been telling u all that. Boss is better and proved it today.
in the huddle and on the sideline mcnabb looks like hes losing blood but hes sharp as hell on the field.
The Whiteness that is Brent Celek is better. LJ can run with the ball, but he cant block and catch
all over Rothlesberger
ROFL is getting pummeled out there.
whats with all these penalties on the dline for offsides or delay of game????
Pass rush showing up today, I like!
The penalties are getting out of hand. The Eagles are keeping the Steelers in this game.
WOW< what an INT Assante
Samuelzzzzzz!
Lito and Sheldon are digging themselves a hole.
what a pick. SAMUEL!
Samuel just earned his cookie for this game! Nice INT.
Let's go into halftime with a two-score lead. No way are the Steelers going to allow the Eagles to keep blitzing that easily in the second half.
Terrible.
farging Booker sucks at blocking
farg shtein.
why is the Defense praying, what a bunch of flags
at desean touched him.
booker with a terrible block leading to a terrible INT by mcnabb.
Is that the 6th sack this first half?
Was there any doubt that Reed would make that kick? It seems like every kicker connects on long kicks against the Eagles.
this is just the type of games the eagles lose
offense doing good but missing opportunities. they should be up by at least 7 right now
defense doing well but stupid penalties leading to steelers FGs.
only up by 4...i expect the steelers to make some good half time adjustments and come out and win.

This game is typical Eagles bullshtein. They're a better team but no question they lose this one, and the starting QB, RB, and FB are out injured.
LOL, its over already, 6 sacks from the D, but this team just crumbles

This could very well be the end of the season for the Eagles.
Anyone seriously think there's even a chance we win this game??
Un farging real
Yes, the Eagles are going to win this game
book it
only chance is a d jax punt return td or a defensive score.

offense again struggles.
im telling you the eagles are going to lose this game. mcnabb will take one more big hit and be out for the season.
nice eagles offense doing nothing and then runyan pushes woodley into mcnabb.
steelers putting together a good drive.
This game isn't even fun to watch anymore. It's like being cockteased for months, fearing that any moment you're gonna catch her farging some guy she just met. Just put the Eagles out of their misery already goddammit.

Cbuck hasn't looked very bad at all in replacement of Bwest.
I wonder how many people are scrambling to pick up Cbuck, besides me?
he hasn't looked bad but now i fear the offense will go into ULTRA PASSING MODE.
CBuck has been very servicable but let's not pretend he's lighting the world on fire out there. He doesn't give that extra dimension of explosiveness that you get from Westbrook.

WHERE THE farg WAS THAT D ON MONDAY?
Oh, its the same exact defense. They happened to meet an offense that doesn't seem to like its receivers this week.
No fracture on Wesy's ankle. MRI tomorrow. Good news.
man, Kemoeatu (LG) and Colon (RT) didn't play well...i think about 75% of the sacks could be blamed on those two guys alone. Colon is slow, reminds me of Orlando Brown, and Kemoeatu (although injured) didn't seem his head was in the game on 1/2 the plays.
My biggest fear came to fruition that Westy goes down and Jackson can't do it all by himself.
Good thing LJ stepped up like the franchise TE he is ;)
I still want a WR, Considine to be replaced by a Jason Short type guy on teams that will solve our coverage problem and Dawk to stop covering TE's and WR's.
Good win though. Howard is playing nice. After I internetingly challenged Bunk, good to see him step up. and Panthers lost too.

you do have to give credit to the cowboy's offensive line
Great defensive game! I forgot what a swarming Eagles defense looked like.
Westbrook and McNabb going down, plus no Andrews? farg.
Hopefully 5 and 36 are ok for next week.
Fun game to watch except for the offensive struggles, but that was somehwta expected considering everything.
steelers line was terrible last season as well. coming in they had one of the weaker lines...no surprise the eagles got pressure. the real surprise was the consistency of it.
of course you cant blitz like this against dallas or TO or Witten burns you.
i will say this though....BEN is a tough MOFO.
Give Rocca and Baskett props today too.

A couple game notes from PE.com:
First Eagles safety since 2003. First one actually caused by the defense since William Fuller sacked Steve Young in 1994.
Only Harold Carmichael has played more games in an Eagles uniform than Brian Dawkins.

Winston Justice's two new best friends.
Couldn't be happier with the was this game was played. The offense clearly is not as good without Westbrook, that really goes without saying. I hope his injury isn't too serious, though it looked pretty bad.
Jackson needs to get his head in the game. That kid really has the opportunity to be special. Dawk still may have a little football in him, he came up with two real nice plays. I am really impressed with this teams run defense. What has always been an achilles heal seems like a strength this season.
So far I think I was wrong about Asante Samuel, he is clearly better than Tito. That interception he made, Lito would have given up the catch.
The D looked great, but I don't want to get too excited after they were toasted by Dallas. It's still early, maybe the Dallas game was a fluke.
Not a single recpt. from a Eagles TE in that game. WTF??

DARTH DAWKINS
Damn... I'll tell you what. That was a farging hard-hitting farging football game. If you can't enjoy a game like that, you don't have a farging pulse.
Haven't read through the thread, so if I repeat... deal with it, bitchass.
1. Brian Westbrook - I love you and I'll give you rjs' remaining nut if it means you're OK and you won't miss any time. We all know that this offense doesn't run without you. Surprising that it didn't fall apart yesterday without you.
1a. Correll Buckhalter - For anyone talking about how Buck should've been cut at the beginning of the year... case in point on why that was such a stupid idea. He gave the Eagles exactly what they needed in relief of Westbrook. Ran hard up the middle, caught a couple passes out of the backfield... blocked pretty well, outside of the sack by Foote?... and his TD leap was reminiscent of Miami in '03.
2. Donovan McNabb - Superb to start the game. Completed his 1st 15 passes (I think?)... and moved the ball with ease against the Steelers' D early on. He threw a couple BEAUTIFUL long 3rd down passes to Avant (who catches everything) and Baskett to keep drives going. Scared the shtein out of me when they showed that replay from that dumb ass flee-flicker call. (WTF, Andy?! You call that bullshtein 4 times a game it seems.) Scared the piss out of me when Kolb came out to start the 2nd half... I figured the Eagles were farged at that point... the INT's on Kolb's 1st attempt didn't help matters at all. I'd never been happier to see McNabb in my life when I saw him coming back into the game. He played aiiiiight from that point... good enough to win, and you could tell he was gutting it out as he looked beat up from the 1st half. Hope he heals up through the week and is 100% good to go for Sunday night.
3. Hank Baskett - Big-ups to Hank. He really had a good day. Made some tough catches, at critical times... held onto the ball after taking big hits, and for once it wasn't just because the D forgot to cover him.
4. Defense - My God.. the D. I haven't seen the defense look that fearsome in a LONG time. You saw exactly what JJ's D is supposed to look like. How many times did somebody have an open lane right to Roethlisberger? 9 farging sacks... and they should have had 2 more. Dawk had a sack waved off because of a bullshtein offsides penalty on Killa, and Gaither had a sack but somehow slipped off of Big Ben. Either way, they whooped his ass. They beat him up all day and forced him out in the 4th qtr. They no doubt kept their #1 ranking vs. the run by shutting Fast Willie down. His 1st 2 carries went for negative yards and they set the tone early... swarming and gang tackling his ass all day.
IGY... time to give the LB's some love. They played damn well yesterday. Stew Bradley led the team in tackles, and had 2 TFL's that I saw. He also was sly enough in knocking away a pass over the middle to get away with a PI. Gaither was in the backfield all day, had 1 1/2 sacks (should've had 2 1/2)... and knocked a pass away over the middle that looked like it could have gone for long yardage. I didn't even know Heath Miller was playing until inside of 2 minutes which is a credit at least in part, to the Engineer. They were quick... got off of blocks for the most part... and swarmed to the ball when it was there. Not saying these guys are all-world or anything, but they played well yesterday and hopefully they can play somewhat consistently at that level.
I was in the boat in the beginning of the season that while Asante was a nice addition to the D... he wasn't a necessity. Well... I'll tell myself to STFU because Asante is for real. His INT was a thing of beauty... and it was a great play before that as a replay showed he was going deep even before Washington was and had a few steps on him. He put himself in position to make that play and in a change from last year... he made the play. He also had a beatiful pass defense in the back of the end zone late in the game reading the WR and knocking the ball away at the last minute. So far... worth every penny of that $57 mil.
Dawkins. He's old... and he's good. The rumors of his demise were greatly exaggerated. Had a sack taken away, was disruptive with his blitzes all day... was right there in run support... and of course, the highlight late in the 4th... where he Supermanned that ho Big Ben.

To be fair this would almost be a fair trade. My testes could feed a starving African nation for 15 days. No one needs this much potato in their pants.
Pimp Jackson is officially an NFL'er as Lebeau definitely gameplanned around him
QuoteIt was over when ...
Steelers backup QB Byron Leftwich threw incomplete on fourth-and-10 with 35 seconds remaining to end Pittsburgh's slim chances of an improbable comeback. The Eagles took over on downs and kneeled down to run out the clock.
Game ball
This contest featured a dominant performance by the Eagles' front seven on defense, but not to be overlooked was the sensational effort from Philadelphia punter Sav Rocca. Rocca punted three times in the fourth quarter and all left the Steelers in challenging field position and allowed the Eagles to keep the defensive pressure on.
Key stat
The Eagles recorded nine sacks and a safety and had at least twice that many knock-downs. And those numbers don't count the four times Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger barely escaped sacks and was credited with 6 total rushing yards. If Roethlisberger was less elusive, the Eagles very easily could have tallied 15 sacks or more.
Noteworthy
Eagles RB Brian Westbrook left in the second quarter with an ankle injury and did not return. ... Roethlisberger left late in the fourth quarter with a hand injury and did not return. ... The Steelers did not have a play of 20 yards or more until Heath Miller's 21-yard grab with less than two minutes left. ... In one eight-play stretch of the second quarter, the Steelers gave up five sacks, committed a false start penalty and threw an interception. ... Pittsburgh did not get into the red zone until its final drive. ... Donovan McNabb set a new Eagles franchise record with his 176th career touchdown pass.
i cant believe how terrible that safety call was
What do you mean?
it should have been an incomplete pass
he was so clearly throwing it to mewelde moore it wasnt even funny
In case you're not being sarcastic, his knee was down before he even let go of the ball, it was a safety regardless of who he threw it to.
If they were really watching the replay though... they would have noticed that Ben's knee was down before he got rid of the ball, though.
So, it may have been a safety on a "bad" call, but it was still a safety.

It was as bad as your prediction of the game's outcome was good.
I was under the impression that you're not allowed to throw it away when you're in the process of being tackled, and doing so results in a grounding penalty.
Quote from: General_Failure on September 22, 2008, 01:11:51 PM
I was under the impression that you're not allowed to throw it away when you're in the process of being tackled, and doing so results in a grounding penalty.
The QB is always allowed to attempt to get the ball to an eligible receiver and is also allowed to throw it away past the line of scrimmage if out of the pocket. Since the ball didn't get back to the line of scrimmage, the Steelers were arguing that Ben intended to throw it to his checkdown. It's clear that is a possibility but hard to tell because the ball didn't get anywhere near any eligible receiver.
And, ultimately, the call was right anyway because his knee was down before he let go of the ball. I think that might have been mentioned.
You might also be thinking of "in the grasp," but a whistle has to blow on that.
it was a horrible call because they called it grounding not his knee down...he actually made a great attempt to get the ball out to moore

You would think you'd reserve the word "horrible" for a call that incorrectly changes the game. Considering the incorrect call turned out to have the correct outcome, I'm really confused as to why you'd make a big deal out of it.

The morning after, I found this thread funny (http://mboard.steelers.com/fanzone/mboard/news/76534)
Foxsporthas us 3rd in the division. Shouldn't we be 4th, since the taterskins have a 2-1 conference record vs. our 1-1?
All other things are equal except for our lead in points for and points against, which I thought was later tiebreaker than conference record.
