Last hour keys to the game?
Besides the obvious getting to Romo, Dallas will probably run Barber a lot. If he gets going, the Eagles will probably lose. Gotta shut down the run so we can key on Romo and put pressure. If Barber gets going, it will make it that much harder. Make the Cowboys one-dimensional and you'll win.
Westbrook, Westbrook, and more Westbrook.
And someone PLEASE Tonya Harding TO's leg.
Besides Westbrook being huge obviously, I think the Eagles need to get a running game going tonight. The Cowboys can get pressure on the QB, and if the Eagles get delusional based off last week, and drop McNabb back 40 times, the Eagles will probably lose.
Every time the Eagles beat Dallas in Dallas, a running game is usually established.
Gotta get Westbrook and Buck going on the ground.
Jackson needs to not get horse collared, snapping his leg off at the knee and ending what looked to be a promising career.
I think what the Eagles need to do tonight is win.
I love Tom Jackson. I think he seriously wants to end Owens' life. Badly.
What's up, guys. Cowboy fan here. Good luck tonight. Should be tough no matter what.
I knew it!
Don't hate. Just providing some friendly banter, guys. Eagles fans do it on our board, too. It's good fun if people keep it profesional.
I mean come on...Eagles Cowboys HAS to be the most hated, biggest set of rivals. I mean I HATE the eagles. Just as you HATE my 'boys. But, it's okay. Makes the NFL and NFC East great.
Why is Mexico on the field

As a fantasy Westbrook owner, I don't mind this turn of events too much.

No call on the Westbrook facemask. Unreal.
Wow - great job by the officiating crew. Awesome work, fellas.
need a turnover!
Now, Rome, you know that America's Team (TM) does not commit penalties.
You see that Li-to?
LOL facemask again, and Dawk was blocking the shtein outta TO

Two farging facemasks against the Eagles no call. Goddamn.
Thats PI muthafarger, Lewis had a handful
Another zesty call but I'll take it
And now the refs give a bad penalty to the Eagles.
Great crew out there for the premier game of the week.
Is that spot of the foul or 15 yards?

Howard being held by Anderson nice tackle
Is Cole injured?
Mikell is having a good game so far
Hmmm, this is turning into one of those crazy games that's going to end up 42-38 or some such.

Not a great punt return but he took 9 yards out of the punt and didn't farg anything up.
I hope the other players ride him for a while on that ridiculous celebration crap.
They are seriously doing a good job against the run tonight. Dawkins needs to not be on an island against a WR anymore....he just doesn't have that aspect to his game any longer... :-\
Avant is good.
I'll tell you, I like DJ, but he's too damn cocky, and maybe now he'll have his attitude adjusted to the right level.

That play by Donovan - not going out of bounds - shows he wants to win..he put it on the line there and took some hits. He didn't give up. Good for him.good for all us Eagles fans.

okay, I've got an errand to take care of now..
First half thoughts:
Dawkins is a liabilty anymore.... :'(
Considine might be the worst player on the field tonight.
DeSean Jackson is the answer, once he gets his head on straight
McNabb looks like the McNabb off old. And he's got some fire in that ass.
Defense looks great against the run, nice to see some turnovers.
Avant has a future here, he catches EVERYTHING
Second half thoughts:
They need to slow this game down. Long drives, heavy doses of Westy and Buck
JJ needs to make some adjustments and stop the deep ball.
Rory Segrest needs to commit murder-suicide with Considine.
Mikell is playing great again, and the linebackers for the most party look solid.

i just get the feelin the eagles will lose this if it continues to be a shootout. the defense has to show up.
outside of the one INT the pass defense has looked terrible. no pass rush either.
the eagles should have at least 1 more td. winning by 6 but should be up by at least 10.

One thing that is probably forgotten is the fg dallas got at the end of the first half. cant let that shtein happen. they dont get that, birds are driving for 3 not 7 at the end, maybe that changes things.
Well, nice to see even healthy McNabb can still choke with the best of them. He lost that game, pure and simple. Hey, dumbshtein, if you pull the ball out, keep it or give it to the wide receiver doing the end around (that's NOT a reverse professional announcer guys) don't try to give it back to the running back that's already past you.

They wouldn't have needed to drive for anything if McNabb didn't fumble. The D couldn't stop them and was demoralized... that play turned the whole game around.
I'm still so mad about Jackson chucking the ball away at the 2, I'm going to use a smiley. Brace yourselves!

Any time you put up a 37 burger on somebody and lose, that's tough. They did stand toe to toe with 'America's Face-mask Grabbers', which unfortunately will put them back on the rest of the league's list of teams to watch out for.
Should be a nice boost to our power ranking in any case. ::)

again terrible 4rth qrt play calling followed by even worse execution.
I AM SICK AND TIRED OF MCNABB REFUSING TO RUN THE BALL WHEN HE HAS OPEN FIELD IN FRONT OF HIM. :boom
you dont have TO on your team who can work his way back to you. you don't even have stallworth or curtis (stallworth light). just stop scrambling laterally and take off. even if its 5 yds.
forget the reverse that wasn't and was a fumble. forget the pass to westbrook that went high.
you MOFO run the ball when its 2nd and 14 and you have at least 10 yds in front of you. do not throw a difficult pass in between two DBs to jason avant of all ppl.
terrible terrible play calling and execution. knew the game was over when they kept settling for FGs.
and i have not even touched on the defense. sick and tired of lightweight DEs who get pushed around and barely get any rush. the secondary was smoked early by TO and later by the short passes. here is a idea...COVER WITTEN!

Newp. After McNabb fumbled I said game over. Hell I didn't expect the D to even force a 3 and out, so small plus there after getting smacked all game. Oh, and Dawkins is done. Why the farg did they keep him on witten when he got burned over and over... oh, and over... What the farg were the LBs doing? The middle of the secondary was wide open all farging night.
they still can't get to the qb without blitzing.
oh, and did i mention that mcnabb choked like a dog when it really mattered.
To be fair, he did finally run one. He needs more practice at sliding though.
i just knew reid would try to out think everyone else. i think they even pointed out how he was calling the plays that last drive.
you knew he was going to do something stupid. but even before that and all of the fourth qrt...terrible calls.
the screen was not working all game yet they kept forcing it.
try a diff player for a screen maybe. LJ. Desean.

To be fair on that point Romo was dropping and firing after the first quarter. The line didn't have time to get to him before the ball was gone. Unlike how McNabb plays he didn't drop, drop, hold, hold, hold then throw. He just dropped and threw. Most of his drops were 3 steps, on the longer 5 steps by the time he hit five the ball was coming out (usually to witten down the middle). The chance for pressure by and large wasn't there.
Plus, the ends were rushing to hard and too far up field. The didn't collapse the pocket because by the time they turned in they were usually already past Romo's deepest step.
well it doesnt help that they are undersized "bullets" who are pushed around.
let's bash mcnabb some more.
how the f do you take those sacks? throw the goddamn ball away, you farging idiot. mf'er is a 10 year vet & should know better.

We will beat the steelers next week, we gotta.
supposedly Roy Williams has a broken forearm, so there's that at least
Oh, and when the ends were effective in forcing Romo up, the DTs were usually walled off by the rest of the Dallas line. The front four were almost completely neutralized, partly by their play, partly by the cowshteins line, and partly by the 3 step drop and throw by Romo. The only time they got effect pressure after they went to the three step drops was when Philly brought too many guys to block and Romo couldn't even get to the third step before someone was on him. Against teams with shteintier line play the D will look much improved.
Still haven't broke the seal, I'm sweating Bud Light.

Doesn't matter, the AFC is Reid's kyrptonite. Along with cheeseburgers and effective play calling to finish games. This reminds me of that opening day loss to the Titans a couple years back. That was a debacle. They had this game won and threw it away. And those stupid play fakes on obvious passing downs need to stop. All they do is take time & concentration that McNabb needs to read the field and gives the D time to get further upfield and their secondary to get to coverage areas. They're a ridiculous waste of time.

its the lining up in shotgun which drives me crazy. esp on 1st and 2nd downs.
A hook and ladder?? in the farging NFL??
Are these iceholes farging serious?????
Yeah, but Westbrook can still be there and just block. I'm talking about McNabb looking down and away from the back 7 and the extra second or so that gives the d line to get upfield. If McNabb could fake, setup and release, with any speed at all that'd be different, but it takes him forever to scan the field on a regular passing play as it is.

Reid was coaching too well, he had to get in some stupid before time ran out... he should have just done it in the first half like Jackson did.
I'm also wondering why the line backers never got more than 7 yards from the los all game. And why the hell didn't they have any even *try* to jam Witten at the line. He got free releases all night.
When will the Reid era end??? :'(
At this point I'm looking forward to the Jim Johnson era ending more than the Reid era. Another stubborn bastich too willing to put mediocre players in his system instead of getting the players needed to match up to the offenses in the division.
Hell I'm counting JJ in there too. The whole coaching staff needs an overhaul and, I'm saying it yet again, get rid of McNabb too. He's too inconsistent. At least Kolb will get rid of the ball quickly and he throws with some zip. I'm getting tired of watching the receivers slowing down on long routes because they have to wait for the ball to get there. He may not be the answer but I'd like to see a change. I'm starting to know what the Packers fans who got sick of Favre felt like.
dont you do the hook and ladder X 3 when its like 4th and 40
the linebackers are a travesty on this team
is there a better pre 4th quarter qb in the history of the nfl than donovan mcnabb
other than the pimp did any wr get open this entire game?
well its tough when you rely on possession receivers like avant and people who shouldnt be in the nfl like greg lewis.
the lb's suck in pass coverage but its tough to complain about the run defense
but at the same time they had 0 sacks i believe so yea trent cole can suck a fleshpop
and mcnabb tightened up in the 4th as usual
but still they lost to dallas by 4, cant help but think this is a nfccg preview, hopefully in philly
now, granted, 5 likes his wr's to be "wide" open, by a step or two it seems before he will throw them the ball.
but who's going to fight for the ball? baskett who is praised for his high jumping since the earth formed but we never see a fade, jump ball? greg bobble hands lewis?
90% of the blame goes on reid for mcnabb getting drilled and holding the ball. you notice when aj, kolb, garcia comes in it's short, efficient 3, 5 step drops. but since that fat farg thinks the world of 5, he calls all these long bomb routes and intermediate routes with zesty wr's, mcnabb (for the most part) is just dealing with the hand he's dealt.
like someone said before, he didn't have a problem holding onto the ball and getting sacks when he had a good wr on the team. and wasn't that stretch of time one of the few times mcnabb wasn't injured? bc he didn't have to hold the ball and get pounded for someone to get open.
teams know, take away westbrook and we're pretty much farged. double desean if you have to, worry about westy and everyone else just sucks.
herremans and jackson should go farg them selves while they're at it. they played like shtein tonight. bunkley didn't play well either, that (rookie?) LG white boy decleated him and just drove him back more than a few times. bring back kimo!

you might be right
but would it shock you if they were 1 - 3
no not at all
but youd have to figure this is too good of a team to lose 3 games in a row. but unfortunately they dont have a qb ballsy enough to not let that happen.
Pitt isn't that good. They can win that game. We are frustrated but they were supposed to lose this game on paper.
That and pretty much everything Pinoboy said.
its not that they lost i knew they would...its the way they lost
andy reid playing guys that shouldnt be in the league
positions getting exposed that everyone already knew sucked
donovan shteinting the bed late again
the more things change the more they dont
I'm just tired of feeling like this team has no chance in the 4th quarter of close games. Every year it's the same sinking feeling in a close one: Either the D will give up a LONG drive (which they did all farging game tonight) or the offense (usually McNabb) will farg up during the crucial last drive and blow any chance to win (which he does A LOT!). Not that Reid helps the offense with his ridiculous last drive play calling which has been baffling from day one.
I just them to move on already and start a new era. I'd like to see what some new blood can do. Granted it's only week 2, but it's the same shtein year after year. I'd like to see if a new QB can not take forever to throw the ball and will trying to gain some yards when nothing is open and no one's in front of them. They play some cupcake non-NFCE teams this year that will let them mask some deficiencies, but at the heart of it all, the philosophy of the team needs to change and it never will with Reid in charge.

No, but I'm on the record at 2-2. They might win against the Steelers and lose to Chicago, but they'll be 2-2.
Their offense played pretty well against a 3-4 last night, granted it didn't result in a win and they farged up when it counted. The defense was infuriating because they would stop them on first and second and then give up a big play on third. The thing that drives me insane is their inability to ever stop Jason Witten. How many times are they going to let that guy beat them?

you would need to get rid of the WRs also and bring a coach/FO that understands the importance of a WR who can beat coverage or demand doubles. because kolb is going to do no better with these WRs.
thinking with a cooler head now i guess im happy they fought so well against dallas but i think im more dissapointed in the defense than the offense. for this eagles offense, without 2 starting WRs, to put up 30 pts against the "SUPERBOWL DALLAS TEAM" should be enough. it should not be a shootout. the defense should be able to stop on their own and not only when romo makes a bad throw so the defense catches a break.
still no pass rush and no strategy to stop witten.
totally disagree on the offense...it sounds retarded to say but they scored the quietest 37 pts ever
other than the pimp not a single wr could get open all night...the only time they could complete a pass was either when the oline gave donovan tons of time or he moved around the pocket and made a play
and the run game was a travesty
Well they really only scored 30, but until the last couple of drives they moved the ball with ease. I agree with you about Pimp, he is the only one that gets open with regularity. He is gives me a boner every time he touches my balls, I mean the ball.

not 37 but 30. and it was not quiet. everytime dallas scored, the eagles scored. of course settling for FGs sucks but coming into the season i did not expect much from the starting WRs but now to expect even more from the #3 and #4 WRs?
it also didnt help that WRs again had some key drops. desean on that first drive. greg lewis late in the game. baskett i think had 2.
honestly if someone told you dallas would score 41 would you have expected the eagles to score even 30?
im more dissapointed in the D because apparently it was built to stop offenses like these and it rolled over.
oh and ill agree with the run game. it was abandoned yet again. buck had 0 carries i believe. westbrook averaged around 3 yds per carry.
The defense was by far more disappointing.
if you take away those run plays where 5 taps on his left cheek and the entire stadium knows he's changing the play to an off tackle run to the left, westy's ypc would've been decent.

ok gotta remind myself its only week2. they can still get into the playoffs and lose even worse when it matters most.
Observations:
- Jackson is the real deal and hopefully he gets his head on straight after the dumbest farging play I've ever seen.
- This offense is good and should only get better when Greg Lewis and Hank Baskett are no longer seeing significant playing time.
- Considine is awful.
- The mid-range pass coverage is awful.
- McNabb under pressure might be the worst decision maker and performer in the history of the league. Two coverage sacks on the final drive? Throw the farging ball out of bounds. Add in his worm-burners and you have one hell of a hot mess.
- 73 Miller Lites and gobs of chili is the best way to watch a football game short of being there.
cant get over how they had the game until that reverse/fumble. :boom
the panthers are 2-0 and have one of the weakest schedules to boot. faaaaaaaaarg me.

i'm still one of those people curious to see sheldon at s. i hope Ikegwuonu isn't matt ware part deux. i wouldn't mind sheldon - fs mikell - ss lito, asante, ike nickel next year. then if demps can get his head out of his ass defensively, put someone on witten (sheldon - dawks replacement?) and put demps in to take sheldons spot or if ike as advertised prior to the acl, have him cover him.
i'm tired of replacing meany heads and teaching them a lesson by drafting/signing their replacement. you know what you have in lito, sheldon, asante, mikell, you don't now what you have in drafted players (see considine, moats, justice...)

I liked what I saw from Mikell last night. Watching Dawkins is getting increasingly painful, but he still knows what's going on and obviously can't be demoted for not being able to cover TO 1 on 1.
The key is that they have to deactivate Considine and give Demps and Reed a chance to play a bit. They have players with some ability; they should use them. Considine has been brutal.
Speaking of brutal, listening to those rednecks boo the butchering of the national anthem was pretty hilarious.

That's continually the story with Reid the coach/gm. I seriously wonder if Curtis and Brown weren't hurt if Jackson would even see the field outside of punt returns. It took two years for them to get Westbrook into the action. QuoteDon't blame this loss on Donovan McNabb
Those of you out there who have been in such a damn hurry to ship Donovan McNabb out of town and commence the Kevin Kolb era really need to rethink your position.
The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback proved once again here last night that there's still plenty of life left in his 31-year-old arm and his surgically-repaired knee, wrote Philadelphia Daily News columnist Paul Domowitch.
There are a lot of Eagles whose fingerprints were on last night's 41-37 close-but-no-cigar loss to the Cowboys. A defensive line that was unable to get any pressure on Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. A secondary that allowed Terrell Owens and Jason Witten to rack up 199 receiving yards and two touchdowns. A kickoff coverage unit that made Cowboys rookie Felix Jones look like a Hall-of-Famer. A tight end, L.J. Smith, who failed to catch a pass until late in the fourth quarter. Even normally sure-handed running back Brian Westbrook, who had a momentum-swinging fourth-quarter fumble.
But not McNabb. He was aces in the loss, completing 25 of 37 passes for 281 yards and a touchdown. And those 12 incompletions included five that were dropped by his receivers.
Said Cowboys coach Wade Phillips: "Anybody who thinks Donovan is too old or can't play anymore, they're absolutely wrong. The guy kept them in the game and made great plays."
While I don't put all the blame on McNabb, he certainly doesn't deserve a free ride like Domowitch thinks. The sacks in the last drive and the two fumbles on handoffs to Westbrook come to mind.
I will say I like what I saw from him compared to last season - I agree he's healthy and strong as ever. I also like watching him battle for extra yards along the sideline, even though he missed the TD.
All in all, happy to have him and he's going no where, but he still needs some of the blame.
he gets the blame for the loss period....the fumble was inexcusable....how do you not know your own play book
the sack he took at the end was titantically stupid as well
there were other factors in the game like considine....dropped passes...no pass rush that kept the game closer than it should have been but in the end mcnabb lost the game
I criticize McNabb to the fullest for alot of things...and yes he farged up big time with the fumble(s)...but to say he was the blame for losing the game is a bit much.
I dont see how you can put full blame on a qb for a last second drive that comes up short..int, fumble or sack..in any game unless he farged up big time the whole game...and he didnt...he actually looked good
unless I was completely trashed, Im pretty sure McNabb didnt play LB or safety last night..did he?
im pretty sure it wasnt a linebacker or a safety behind center in the fourth quarter
he fumbled the ball in dallas territory on a drive that in all likelyhood should have ended the game...he had a chance to win the game with plenty of time left and due to his own stupidity failed...had he led the team to the victory in the 4th quarter we would all be praising him right now and deservedly so...but he didnt...he instead gave the game away...its not a matter of blame its a matter of fact
I'm more pissed that the D Line STILL has not been addressed in that they generate no pressure without a blitz and it's been that way for 4 seasons.
i hate to sound like a broken record but ive been preaching it for about four years...the front seven (not just the d line) is completely devoid of playmakers
where the farg is chris clemons....dook cant even get on the field...
what a horrible signing so far
i also wanna know who was the person who woke up one day and decided that they have three young gifted athletic linebackers who were gonna burst on the scene this year.....and why did so many people (fans and media) go along with it
against the run the line was superb along with the LB's, but in coverage, they sucked ass
PFT is saying Andrews is having an MRI and was struggling packing his shtein up

they looked pretty good at camp. That doesn't always translate to games
As for Clemons he made a ST tackle at the 30, way to stick your nose in there and earn that $4 mil... I'd rather they just dress Smith
Supposedly the LB's are sooo much faster this year. If thats the case, you mean to tell me that JJ cant design better blitz schemes to get to the QB? Regardless if they were getting scorched by the deep ball, you cant sit on your heels all game and expect things just to change.
Get at least a single outside or inside blitz to make Romo make the quick read/throw or check down in the flat. I would of rather of seen more 2-4 yd plays by Romo than those bombs with no pressure at all. If you see your line not contributing, pressure from the friggin outside
Oh... and make no mistake about it...Jamaal Jackson got farging abused by Jay Ratliff and it was a major factor in alot of McNabbs knuckle ball hurried throws

I gotta agree; I'm getting sick and tired of 10 year NFL QB McNabb doing rookie ass things behind center while the game is on the line, whether getting sacked, throwing a 3 yd completion with 5 yards to go, or a game-ending interception. This shtein is crazy...
For three quarters the Eagles were playing to win. In the 4th quarter they were playing to conserve their lead against the Cowboys (WHO WERE STILL PLAYING TO WIN). Why switch up? In the words of Ricky, "For who, for what?" McNabb rarely has a killer instinct to go out and put the nail in the coffin of a playoff caliber team, and AR's playcalling suggests the same. Other than Westbrook and Desean, the rest of the offense follows suit. If just one of them (AR or McNabb) had the balls to keep the fire burning for a whole sixty minutes, that game would've been a dub in the column.
I could go on about the defense, but I don't feel like typing that much. One thing I do have to say about them is that when they needed to 3-out the Cowboys at the end of the game, they mustered up the heart and got it done. Ball in McNabb's hands, four minutes left to play, approximately 70 yards to go. HOF QB's are measured by this icewater-in-the-veins shtein.

The best we can hope is Bryan Smith turns into a ready player overnight I guess. Or Abiamiri comes back perfectly healthy.

Yeah I was there. Haven't read the thread nor do I plan to, but here's what pissed me off...
1. McNabb's refusal to run for that 1st down in the 4th quarter.
2. McNabb's goddamn fumble. What in the hell was he doing? Any explanation?
3. RORY and his continuous decision to kick to Felix Jones. I mean, c'mon!
4. Jackson breakin out the pimp stick a tad bit early
5. Not allowing Samuel to shadow TO all night. Letting Sheldon Brown cover him was ridiculous. Especially when they ran the slant inthe end zone. Sheldon has outside technique, no safety help inside and hello touchdown.
I liked DeSean's showboating. It's a nice change of pace from Brown's & Smith's dropsies.

2. McNabb's goddamn fumble. What in the hell was he doing? Any explanation?--he was scared and wanted to throw up
3. RORY and his continuous decision to kick to Felix Jones. I mean, c'mon!--he's not Hester--he had crazy wide open lanes that Andy Reid himself could of ran one back
4. Jackson breakin out the pimp stick a tad bit early---thank God Pacman didnt pick that ball up and the whistle blew.
5. Not allowing Samuel to shadow TO all night. Letting Sheldon Brown cover him was ridiculous. Especially when they ran the slant inthe end zone. Sheldon has outside technique, no safety help inside and hello touchdown.----yeah, i dont understand the scheme there. i understand you can create mismatches with motion plays, but Owens barely did that and was positioned in the flanker spot all night.
You put your best corner on the best receiver period
Not the Eagles, they play sides of the field. No reason to move Owens around when the cbs stay on their segment of the field regardless of what the offense is doing.

it was dawk 1v1 (another brilliant plan by the fat farg) who got beat, but same difference
pretty sure there wasnt a corner on the field for that play as the team was in a goaline defense
inexcusable for that to happen but at the same time dawk has to bump TO coming off the line...you cant let him run free there and he did

Or Sheppard. Sure he's only a backup, but he's been pretty successful against Owens
Him and Considine were both successful on that 72 yarder by Owens
the fact is greg lewis had as many catches as TO and two of his grabs were on a complete abortion by considine and horrible coaching
lito and samuel were blanketing him 99% of the game and took his ass out...the two touchdowns are easily correctable....at least they should be if the coaching staff takes it head out of its asses
Quote from: reese125 on September 17, 2008, 01:23:50 PM
Him and Considine were both successful on that 72 yarder by Owens
lito did exactly what he was supposed to do on that play
I actually just watched the replay and Jaws said the Eagles were playing the sticks, which means Lito covered the outside and Consi covered the middle
the pump killed him, which left Lito to play catch up. I thought he was one-on-one. So yes, good call
Either way, that play would of been a puddle even if Considine didnt bite b/cause Owens was going for the stop and go regardless and that would of left Considine one on one
well if he was playing left centerfield like he was supposed to be instead of biting he wouldnt in theory have had to run with TO and thus "cover" him...he kinda just had to be back there
lito was supposed to mark TO up to ten yards (its was 3rd and 10) considine was supposed to be deep in case of exactly what happened....needless to say he wasnt

dawk needs to be put out to stud.....hes a disgrace
I definitely was thinking that he was signifigantly slower than everyone else on the field.
If a 280 pound TE can consistenly outrun you, you have lost your value.
Also, I hate how PE.com does not put up quotes after losing games. What is this, Russia? Are we just going to pretend it didn't happen?
Dows anyone have what McNabb said about the final fumble? I really want to hear the explanation.
andy didnt have a day after presser yesterday either...which i thought was a fineable offense by the league
in fact i havent heard of him having one since the game...anyone know if he had one today?
LOL - Considine could have been on him like a rubber and T.O. still would have blasted him into oblivion.
Considine sucks and belongs nowhere near the field unless he's lying six feet under it.

There is no excuse and if he offers one he can stick it were the sun don't shine. imo, that play cost them the game. How the farg does a qb who has been in the league as long as McNabb get confused over who to hand the ball off too after he was the one who called the goddamn play in the huddle?!?!? What??? Did he farging forget?!?!?!?
they were running a fake reverse on that play and mcnabb claimed he double clutched it because he was trying to sell the reverse

I'm so glad Reid was calling the plays. Just imagine how bad a vanilla play from Morningwood could have gone!

Lay off, McNabb pitched a good game. Without the drops he would've been like 30-37 for 300+ yds and 2 TDs (thanks DeSean). It was a bad time for a mistake, but shtein happens.
The defense laid an egg, big time. By the 4th, Trent Cole was getting knocked down with a feather, neither tackle produced at all, and I'm not even sure we had a left DE. Plus Dawk is cooked, and played like it, no matter how pissy he got at his interview. Start Demps. And light Considine on fire; if he's gonna get burned, he might as well look the part.
McNabb didn't cost the game - the piss poor defense and even worse special teams did that.
They all had a hand in it. If Dallas hadn't been facemask happy, it would have been a blowout anyway.

Farg that. shtein happens?!? That's half the problem with this team, shtein
always happens. How often do you see the game winning drive gave away by the guy who is supposed to have the heavy hand in it because he's trying to make shtein up? The only guys he faked out were Best and hisself. What NFL QB have you ever seen double pump on a goddamn handoff? What, he invents crap in the middle of the drive that is supposed to win the game, and I'm supposed to lay off him? Bullshtein. I've been his biggest supporter for years here, but that crap last Monday night was dumbass bullshtein, and he's gonna' have to beat the Steelers to make up for it.
He had a great game if you are looking for fantasy points. Everything he did, all the rocket passes, the scrambling out of the pocket, the great passing pct. all went out the window with that fumble.
Do you think McNabb leads the league in receivers falling on the ground to make a catch? Just wondering.
While I was extremely annoyed and pissed off at 5's play on Monday....not just the fumble, but his refusal to run for the 1st down and his career long reluctance to THROW THE BALL AWAY....he's going to turn out a monster year.
I blame the not throwing it away shtein on Reid. Lay down the law, Big Red.
Listening to Cowboys fans around here and national media types/local radio hosts in DFW, San Antonio and Houston...
They all say the Eagles are a helluva team and they all love and respect McNabb.
Amazing difference between listening to them and listening to Cataldi and Rhea.
thats cause they see him play twice a year
and because cowboys fans are idiots as are people in texas in general
he shouldnt be trashed except when he deserves it but he also doesnt deserve unconditional love...he a very good but also a flawed qb
Well, since Peyton Manning isn't going to leave Indy anytime soon, you might want to get used to QBs with flaws.
i just did some lame research and came up with the 03 mnf game against the packers as the last time mcnabb led a winning 4th qtr drive.
the 06 game against tampa when bryant hit that fg might count, but all mcnabb did was throw a screen pass to westbrook and he took care of the rest.
before 03 mcnabb was usually pretty good, he had great drives against pitt in 00 and nyg in 01 in the clutch. but since that epic, epic fail in the superbowl, dude has been basically mike mcmahon in the 4th.
He's had something like 14 4th quarter comebacks, but they rarely occur on the last and final drive
yeah I thought I saw 18 comebacks in his career come up on the screen
must of not been too memorable
theres a huge difference between being down 23-21 and driving your team down for 3 with 1300 to go and being down by 4 against dallas with 2 minutes left and needing 7.

It was shocking. Because most of the time all I get is the general bullshtein.
But they are on notice because the Eagles showed cracks in their Cowboys armor. Everyone anointed the Boys as "The Team" and its apparent that the Birds will be in the hunt all year.
I love seeing Donovan back to being himself as far as being elusive in the pocket though. That is the biggest thing he needs to be effective.

exactly. i saw that stat on monday night about the 18 comebacks but i'm sure having a hard time recalling that many.
i remember that first one against the skins back in 2000 (when the icehole used to run), Pittsburgh, G-Men a couple of times, the Packers in 03. in a perfect world we'd be talking about that great drive with 00:55 left in the Super Bowl and he drove the birds down the field and hit pinkston in the corner of the..................shtein, and i'm not even drunk and i'm talking this way. good god.
I will say it again, McNabb other than the last 3 years has been a pretty clutch regular season QB, most of you seem to forget that.
As far as the Cowboys fans, most of them aren't talking too much crap this week. I have at least 10 of there fans in my company. I was at the gym on Tuesday and this guy was beside me on the treadmill and said man the Cowboys own the Eagles. I asked him "do you even watch football?"
4th quarter comebacks could be the most meaningless stat this side of vorp
studs such as vinny testaverde drew bledsoe and jake plummer all have more 4Q comebacks than donovan
the real stat should be fourth quarter drives with less than five minutes to go to take the lead...even if you lose the game in these instances you should get credit...because those are the ones that really count
for example if a qb has a drive that results in a td with three minutes left then his defense gives up a subsequent game losing drive why should the qb be punished...also drives that late in the game are primarily passing drives....a drive with 11 minutes left that ends up beign the final score could often be credited to a running back who ran it 8 times down the field or one long run...and then the defense stopped the opponent for he rest of the game...i wouldnt exactly give a qb comeback credit there
Mcnabb is good but he's no Kevin Colb.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/sep/18/headhunting-honchos/
QuoteToo bad more hasn't been made of the latter. Too bad more attention hasn't been called to Dallas' dirty, reckless play, to the Cowboys' repeated tugging on Brian Westbrook's facemask. By my count, Westbrook's head swiveled around, dangerously, three times during the course of the evening. The officials caught two of them and assessed 15-yard penalties; the other, on the fourth play of the game, was a freebie.
If that had happened to a quarterback, we'd never hear the end of it. If it had been a QB whose neck was constantly contorted on national television, Roger Goodell would have had a conversation with the guilty parties - perhaps even flown them to New York for a face-to-face - and several wallets would have been lightened.
The commissioner also might have put the coach and defensive coordinator on notice, told them he'd be watching the Cowboys closely in the future to see whether they were using proper tackling technique. After all, three facemask-grabbings in one game is way too many, and having the same player on the receiving end of all three is ridiculous, almost mathematically impossible.
What a coincidence, too, that he's the Eagles' best offensive player, a back who led the league in yards from scrimmage last season (2,104) and gained 299 of those yards in two games against Dallas. It couldn't possibly be that the Cowboys' defensive coaches spent the week telling their players, "We have to be physical with this guy if we're going stop him. [Wink, wink.]" I mean, when has a football coach ever suggested that?
If you ask me, the Cowboys are taking this "Hard Knocks" business a little too literally. Football is a nasty game, sure, and people are going to get hurt, but there's never been any place for trying to yank a guy's head off.
And make no mistake, there was nothing inadvertent about any of the episodes, nothing incidental; if there had been, the defenders (Jason Hatcher, Pat Watkins, Jay Ratliff) would have released the mask sooner. No, this was just good, old fashioned Street Ball - Oakland Raiders, circa 1976.
Fortunately, Westbrook lived to play another day. Maybe the Cowboys will resort to a different form of, uh, discouragement next time - the clothesline, say, or the horse collar. Clearly, he was foremost in their defensive thoughts Monday night, No. 1 on their Most Wanted list. And their roughhouse tactics had the desired effect; he was held to 58 yards rushing and 103 overall.
Of course, it was a tough weekend for the NFL. That might be why the league closed its eyes to the extracurricular activities at Texas Stadium. Goodell and his trusty damage controllers were still dealing with referee Ed Hochuli's botching of the Chargers-Broncos game -the Inadvertent Whistle Heard 'Round the World - when the Cowboys started brass-knuckling Westbrook. The last thing they needed was another screaming 72-point headline.
Still, watching the Cowboys' leg-breakers in action was like going back in time - to the 1950s, before the NFL got serious about cleaning up its act. In those days, pro football was largely self-policing. If a team started working over an opposing player, a fight would almost certainly ensue (and possibly spill into the stands). At the very least, the perpetrators would be retaliated against - and in the '50s, NFL law was about as forgiving as Islamic law.
So the league was lucky the Eagles didn't respond in kind, lucky the game didn't disintegrate into a prime-time punch-a-thon. (Heck, old-time Eagles like Chuck Bednarik must have wondered why it didn't. Bednarik's teams, for goodness sakes, used to get in free-for-alls in exhibition games.)
But it does the NFL no good that the largest cable television audience ever (18.6 million, according to reports) witnessed this kneecapping of Westbrook. A certain element - the Ultimate Fighting crowd, maybe, and other devotees of the extreme - might enjoy such antics but not the true fan, the one who cares about The Game.
This is a season, let's not forget, that has already seen Tom Brady and Shawne Merriman go down - and Ben Roethlisberger narrowly miss separating his shoulder. (It's "just" a sprain, the club says.) The Seahawks are so depleted at receiver they're signing people off the street. The Colts' offensive line is such a patch job you'd have trouble naming two starters. LaDainian Tomlinson is hobbling around on a sore toe; Roy Williams has a broken arm - and it's only Week 3.
So by all means, Cowboys, put out a contract on Westbrook. Grab him by the facemask - once, twice, thrice - and make no apologies for it.
"We had a couple of facemask penalties," Wade Phillips said the next day. "We need to clean that up."
See? Problem solved.
I figured that shtein was done purposely as well but in a shoot out like that, that stuff doesn't get too much attention. Had it been your standard 17-14 type game, it woulda shown in the spotlight more.
wah
the eagles need to do shtein like that....by all means necessary stillupfront's mom
If both teams knew how to make a tackle, neither would have to grab for a facemask. I assume "by all means" includes learning how to play.
weak article, i dont want whining, i want someone dead
Another thing of note...
And I know Steve and Mike saw this too....Jerrah Jones was talking to officials on the field as the game was going on. During time outs he'd talk to the SJ and BJ.

fargin Skeletor should NEVER be allow on the field.
Bill Simmons pointed out that when they kept showing Jerrah hiding in the shadows throughout the game, he looked like the banker from "Deal or No Deal."
Getting back to McNabb, I've been thinking (read, angrily dwelling) on this all week.
It's not that he isn't clutch at the end of games. It's when he fargs up in the spotlight, he can't get past it. They always talk about CBs having short memories, McNabb doesn't have that. He'll be over it by Sunday, but he couldn't get past that stupid fumble on Monday. His play went in the tank for the rest of the game after that (overthrew Westbrook, taking stupid sacks).
IMO, it really comes down to his mental toughness. He just can't ever get past a fargup quickly, and the bigger the stage the worse the result.
re-watched the first half...Bunkley got his ass kicked up and down the field....most of the time 1 v 1. At least Kimo didn't get driven back 2-3 yards every play. Patterson does seem to be playing better this year, but wtf Bunkley???

McNabb has always and I assume will always take stupid sacks, regardless of the circumstance. For whatever reason, he will not throw the ball away.
Yesterday, he did some of both - taking some bad sacks and tossing up a couple of ducks he should have eaten.
But why are we still talking about it in the Cowboys game thread?
Because the Eagles lost that game.
L's have a lot more staying power than W's round here.

You should get him all liquored up and steal it. Or slip him a roofie and swipe it.
And then have sex with him. Gay sex.
Is there any other kind?

That was a given as that's why God invented booze and roofies.
