The Rams have signed Rocky Manning Jr.
Will one of you punch him in the face this weekend? Or throw a beer at him for me?
I'm glad real football is here. The Rams are terrible in every part of the game and anything less than a 21pt win would be a disappointment.
Eagles should kick the Rams asses. I look for Bwest to have a big game with a couple TD's. Get this year started right.
The eagles are a slightly above average team when healthy.
The rams stink...and the birds should win....but to expect a blowout is a little much.
Phreak a 21 point beating in the first week by the Eagles is highly unlikely. Just look at how this team performs under Reid in week 1.

Any team with a healthy Dmac and Bwest is a lot better than average, imo.
I think a lot depends on the wr's, particularly DJ. If he can get open deep, like Bwest said before, it will keep 8 men out of the box. A lot depends on Brown also, although I don't expect a whole lot from him. I hope I'm wrong.
I was saving this for this week:
August 4, 2008 (Mequon, Wis.) – As the St. Louis Rams break training camp in Mequon, Wis., and prepare to depart for to Nashville for a pre-season game against the Tennessee Titans, key veterans have engaged the St. Louis-based American Mustache Institute (AMI) to consult on facial hair grooming for select rookies to ensure the team harnesses the strength, power and wisdom of the mustache to the greatest extent possible. (http://americanmustacheinstitute.org/cs/blogs/ami_administration/archive/2008/08/04/st-louis-rams-call-on-american-mustache-institute-on-mustache-strategy.aspx)
Quote"We are committed to doing everything we can to make 2008 a playoff caliber-season," said veteran bare-lipped weakside linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa. "While I cannot grow one as I suffer from Bare Upper Lip Disorder (BULD), I recognize the power of the mustache. So we brought in the experts to ensure we best-harness that power."

:-D
Hilarious.
And yes, I know they struggle early on, but the Rams are terrible. Westbrook alone should be able to beat those punks down.
I'll be happy with a win, extremely displeased with a loss.
I'm not going to put any conditions on it. A win's a win. Just get it done.
7-point favorites, O/U 44.0
Albert/Moose/Goose will call the game
If the Eagles don't destroy the Rams I'll be really surprised and more than a little pissed off. The Rams might be the worst team in the NFL this year. Baltimore might be slightly worse, though.
I think Atlanta will be 2-14 brutal...
Forgot about Atlanta.
Carolina is going to be the worst team in the NFL this year. I hope.
The Rams will do better than expected this year. Their division is horrifyingly bad. The one usually good team is the Seahawks, and even they are going to suck.
Don't sleep on the Chiefs... they are going to suck HARD.
anything less than a 21 point win is a disappointment?
jesus christ, put down the kool aid.
there's a chance they lose this game. they suck in openers to start, and St. Louis has some offensive firepower.
I'll settle for any sort of win and a lack of injuries. The Eagles are notoriously slow-starters, and they can't afford to let this one slip.
rams worst team in football?
not over the chiefs, niners, ravens, or falcons. at least the rams have a QB, WR, and RB on offense who play at or close to a probowl level.
traditional slow lazy starts by the eagles plus the fact they will open up the game in shotgun leads me to believe it will be a lot closer than eagles fans would wish it be.
eagles win but it will be close like 21-14.
so where was i when the eagles became some sort of juggernaut the blows out teams on sight by minimum three touchdowns
Shocking that any sort of optimism is met here with scorn and derision.

I don't see the birds scoring more than 20. They should still win. 20 - 13 with Rams scoring late to make it look close.
we gonn win aleven games this year. book it.

Lito's bitching again. (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3563918)
QuoteSheppard is injury-free heading into the Philadelphia Eagles' season opener against St. Louis, so why isn't he starting?
"That's a good question," Sheppard said Monday. "You should ask that right now. Given the reasons supposedly about my injuries and not being able to stay on the field, with that not being an issue, what is the issue?"
Just a thought, but it might have something to do with the Pro Bowler they brought in to replace you. Did you think the Eagles were going to release him since you didn't get injured this preseason?
Quote"Me not starting, that's the biggest propaganda," Sheppard said.
Wash out your vadge and get ready to play a full season of football.
I don't think Sheppard knows what propaganda means.
Lito doesn't know what alot of things mean.

Pretty sure I never said anything of the sort.
What I said was I would be pissed off if they didn't blow out the Rams. Everyone here should be because (1) the Rams suck ass, and (2) the Eagles are much better than they are.
Again, though, it just wouldn't be :CF if there wasn't pessimism or outright forecasting of doom going on.
you didn't say it, but Jay did, and that's what i was reacting too
to expect the Eagles to blow anybody out in an opener is just silly, they don't play well in openers and Rams are better than you think. they had a ton of injuries last year and just because they were bad last year doesn't mean they are going to be terrible this year.
but sorry to bring a little objectivity to your "eagles are the bestest!" party. i forgot that objectivity = pessimism.

They should pound the shtein out of this team.
What offensive fire power?
Bulger who cant stand in the pocket because he has no protection?
Jackson who held out forever?
yeah, Jackson probably forgot all the plays during his holdout
and Orlando Pace missed all of last year and is back this year, that's kind of a big piece
Torry Holt? nah, can't play
Dont guys who hold out usually come in and start off a little slow? Regardless of that...his OL isn't exactly good.
Pace re-injured the shoulder in pre-season although still playing with it
They can double him...who else is going to beat them?
This is a team they need to smash.
Because if they come out and barely win, then we'll hear "they could barely beat them stinkin Rams!"

You're not being objective. You're being deliberately negative for whatever reason. I mean, you're entitled to say or think whatever you want about the Eagles, but in this particular instance, I think you're wrong. The Eagles are going to blow out the Rams, and yeah, I think the Eagles are a lot better than the general consensus around here.

i liked 'shut up' better
dave spadaro is a twat
I think the Eagles are better than they're thought of by the masses around here. I also think the Rams are better than how they're portrayed in this thread.
I expect the Eagles to win... but not by 21... and I damn sure won't be pissed if they don't blow them out. Just get the W... cuz there's a decent to good chance the Eagles start out 1-2 anyway (Cowboys, Steelers next).
the eagles will win but i suspect closer to the number rather than 21+
i see very little in thier front seven that would scare any team even one with a pretty poor offensive line
im not sure any teams in the nfl win by more than 21 this week
i certainly wouldnt predict any of them too
oh and birds will be 9-7 this year
i think they get 10 wins, maybe even 11...but this one is a close one
Throughout the off-season I've been saying 9-7 but I think the Giants are a lot weaker now than they were so I think 10-6 sounds about right. Of course if everything clicks/falls apart that could easily be 12 wins or 6 wins, but as is I would say that 10 wins is about right.
11-5... with nothing going terribly wrong. 12-4 if things go really well. 7-9 if things go bad.
11-5
17-2.
10-6...maybe 11-5
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say their offense will be much better than last season now the Donovan is healthy, plus their schedule is fairly easy.
Rams - 17 Birds - 27
Birds move the ball well...but fail to score TD's in the 2nd half thanks to Reids play calling...score should of been 35 - 7, but Birds allow Rams to get the ball back quickly in the 2nd half...keeping the defense on the field most of the 2nd half. Oh glorious Reid, you may get away with this a few times this year but come week two your farging play calling better be balanced.
I think the Eagles have a cake schedule this year. The only sure losses I see are one to Cowboys and Giants (given), Steelers own us, Browns might kick our ass, Ravens...just cause their D(but they are bad bad this year at Offense), Seahawks game is in Seattle but I still see this game 50/50, and for realistic measures lets say they lose twice to Dallas or Giants.
12-4
or
11-5
I think any team has a clear shot in the NFC. We all know Romo chokes come late season. McNabb is prob. the most experienced QB in the NFC, if not the best. If he can stay healthy and Westbrook and the play calling gets more balanced and they manage the clock well...they could be in the SB. Now the chances of this happening are slim...Someone is bound to get injured and someone important. The chances of them managing the clock well and calling strategic plays are 50/50...I wouldn't bet on them getting there, but any team has a shot and we have a better shot than most teams.

We might all think they suck, but there are a lot of media types NOT from the general Philly area who look at the team objectively and think they got a chance at being great, if all the pieces fall together.

The Giants winning last year must have convinced all these schmucks that "anything's possible!"
Do the Eagles have as much of a chance to win it all as the Giants did this time last year? Yes.
Are they one of maybe 15 teams that has such a chance? Sure.
Are there at least 4-5 teams that are significantly more likely to win it? Yes.

He practiced this past week so I'd say he's a go.
Desean Jackson is going to start.
28-13 Eagles.
The Rams offensive line is horrible and they won't be able to consistently drive on the Eagles. Even with Steven Jackson who is overrated to begin with. Still very good, but overrated. Holt has been showing signs of slowing down. Besides Holt they have no one at WR that scares you. Especially when your QB is mediocre and you can't get enough protection.
Eagles shock the world and actually establish a run game early, and use that to open up the passing game with play action. They get an early lead and Westbrook eats up the Rams on the ground with Buck for the rest of the game. D Jax catches a TD.

He would also become the first rookie receiver to start for the Eagles on opening day since Calvin Williams did so in 1990.
