The Seahawks' injury situation has gone from aggravating to roster altering,
because leading receiver Bobby Engram will miss six to eight weeks with a cracked bone in his shoulder and the contract of defensive tackle Marcus Tubbs was terminated after he failing yet another physical because of his troublesome right knee.

Coach Mike Holmgren dropped these bombshell announcements Monday after the team's morning practice at its training camp.

HOLLIS THOMAS ON IR
Posted by Mike Florio on September 9, 2008, 7:53 p.m.

Though he was expected to miss only two months with a triceps injury, a league source tells us that the New Orleans Saints have placed defensive tackle Hollis Thomas on injured reserve.

Thomas is done for the year.

Since he was expected to possibly return in a month or so, there's a chance that he could be released from IR when deemed to be healthy.

Thank god, i took him in my other league in the 14th round, and somehow F'd up and started him last week when he was iinactive

Post by: rjs246 on September 10, 2008, 11:29:48 AM
I'm still not sure he's the best pickup. The fact that he was inactive last week doesn't bode well. I'd think that Henderson is the better option. At least you know he'll see the field...

Post by: Seabiscuit36 on September 10, 2008, 11:31:32 AM
Henderson is basically their homerun guy, he's not good at running routes, but he'll outrun most DB's in a straight fly route
Title: Re: 2008 Injury Report
Post by: rjs246 on September 10, 2008, 11:34:35 AM
Exactly. My point is that in Colston's absence he'll see the field more along with David Patten. Meachem will probably be activated but who knows if he'll even get on the field...

Sure, but where is he to be had on waivers?  8-team leagues, maybe?

Just grabbed him in my 12 teamer. Sucker. Of course I'll be scrambling to scoop up Meachem as soon as the Saints announce that he'll actually be the starter...

Alex Smith to IR (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3579991)

He must have caught a stray projectile from the bench.

Also, Brady has to wait for surgery, since both his MCL and ACL are toast.

That's a shame about Smith.  I thought he was going to be an excellent pro quarterback coming out of college.  Ah well, just add that to the Everest-like list of things I was wrong about in life.

I think if you switched the teams that rodgers and smith got drafted by, they would swich career paths too.

Is the same thing true about McNabb and Akili Smith?  Or McNabb and Culpepper?  Or McNabb and Tim Couch?
Title: Re: 2008 Injury Report
Post by: methdeez on September 11, 2008, 06:50:22 PM
No.
Maybe Culpepper and McNabb, I think they are both good.
What I am saying is I don't think Alex Smith is that bad, he is just part of a bad organization and being coached by someone who did not choose him and does not want him.

It's hard to believe that a team with five Super Bowl wins could be considered a bad organization, but goddamn it they really are horrendous.

Bad ownership, bad management, bad coaches and mediocre to downright awful talent in the locker room.

Pee You.

This has become painful.

Seattles Seahwaks Logan Payne, the starting 5th receiver tore a knee ligament in the game and is done for the season.

Seneca Wallace was supposed to play split end for the game and be a primary target... but pulled a groin in warm-up and was ruled out.

That left the one and only, signed last week Billy McMullen to be the go-to-guy for the game....wow.

um, best injury ever?

QuoteAfter a summer filled horrifying testicular injuries in hockey and baseball, it appears Cleveland Browns tight end Kellen Winslow is also having his own nut trouble and will possibly sit out Monday Night's game against the New York Giants. Pro Football Talk, quoting a league source, says that Winslow was admitted to the Cleveland Clinic "because his balls swelled to the size of grapefruits."

It was first reported as an "undisclosed illness" and head coach Romeo Crennell seemed to think it wasn't too serious, saying "his arms and legs aren't falling off or anything like that." Notice there's no mention of the peach basket, though, which is could be in peril.

Hopefully, he just slept on them the wrong way or is having some sort of odd physical reaction to new laundry detergent or something because nobody should have to be put through such torture and humiliation.

We'll update as soon as there is further clarification...
