Traded by Miami to the Eagles for a 4th rounder
Should be our new return guy.
He was a 2nd rounder last year apparently, so... whatever.
5'10", 191 - not exactly a change of pace guy.

He's fast as hell and returned punts and kicks for Miami last year if I'm not mistaken. Really elusive. Good hands out of the backfield.
Ah, if he's a returner, I'm down with that.
pick #115 BTW, so we still have Carolina's pick
Yes, Booker could be a very effective KR and I feel that was the primary reason for this. He also has good hands out of the backfield. Probably better than someone who would have otherwise been selected with that pick.
Definitely better, unless he's gay like rjs's dog.
Return guy RB who will sit the bench behind Westbrook... maybe Booker should get a job at Chickie and Pete's and complete the trifecta.
QuoteElite RB coming out of HS. Never developed into that kind of player at FSU. Doesn't seem to have the size/durability to be a workhorse RB. Only had 20 or more carries 4 times in his career. Lorenzo is a talented RB. He is fast. Explosive runner. Skinny build. Cuts quickly. Can make cuts at or near full speed. Excellent feet. Good receiver. Great on screen passes, but can also catch the ball downfield. Routes could use a little work. Good on cutback runs. Doesn't have great hips. Makes moves with his feet. Good I-formation RB. Hits the hole hard. Needs to improve at blitz pickup, but will stick his head in there and try to take on rushers. Has potential as a Return Specialist, but only had one PR and 4 KORs in his career at FSU. Ran for 2,389 yds and caught 114 passes.
SUMMARY
Lorenzo doesn't project as a starting RB in the NFL. He is such a good receiver that he could be an outstanding backup/role player. I see him going in the 3rd Rd. If a team feels he could really help at RS, could sneak into the 2nd Rd.
Booker gives Philly a 3rd down type RB. He also has RS potential. You may ask why they'd want a smaller RB like that, but they needed one in case anything happens to Brian Westbrook. Booker is only 24. He has a bright future. As poor as the Dolphins were last year, Booker averaged 4.5 ypc. He also caught 28 passes. That means he can be effective with limited touches, something he's likely to get with Westbrook as the feature back. The upside to getting him is that the Eagles don't have to worry about him adjusting to the NFL.

Oh come on, Booker actually has talent.
Moats is so gone.
Didn't Ginn return kicks for Miami last year?
Anyway, if this guy can do it and for only a 4th rounder than I'm sold. Time to get excited for next year's draft I guess.

Spoke nothing of his talent... just spoke of the similarities.
Kiss any hope of drafting Jackson at 43 goodbye I guess.

not so fast.......
Well, he was right. They missed out on Jackson at 43.
Quote"I was definitely shocked" Booker said. "It was kind of weird because everything's been going so well here. Usually when stuff is going good, you don't expect something like that to happen."
"I was able to show everybody else the kind of player that I am," Booker said. "My teammates knew it the entire time. Why I didn't get on the field sooner, I don't know. That's something that a lot of people, more than myself, wanted to know. At the end of the season I would get people from other teams, coaches included, saying, 'What took them so long to play you?'"
One of those coaches is current Miami head coach Tony Sparano, who spent last year as Dallas assistant.
"Sparano would send me text messages," Booker said. "Whenever you're in a situation like that, you feel like you're doing what you're supposed to do. I understand the game, and being traded is not a bad thing like people think it is, especially when you're going to a good situation."
Booker joins an Eagles' backfield that already includes Westbrook, Correll Buckhalter, Tony Hunt and Ryan Moats. But that's fine with Booker.
"Because of the situation I'm going to, I can't say that I'm the least bit upset," he said. "It's a spread offense. I was just taking a look at Westbrook's numbers from last season. So anytime you can get a chance to play in an offense like that, you've got to be excited."
Westbrook compiled a team-high 368 touches last season and accounted for 36.7 percent of the team's yards from scrimmage. Booker could help lighten his workload – and doesn't care how.
"I love catching the ball just as much as I do running it," said Booker, who doesn't have experience returning kicks. "I got a chance to play a lot toward the end of the year. It was one of the things that I excelled in. I wanted to line up a little more in the slot to show that I can do that too, so hopefully that's something I get a chance to do in Philly."
For the moment, however, Booker is worried about changing from aqua, coral, navy and white to midnight green, silver, black and white.
"I'm trying to figure out what color tape I'm going to wear, what kind of mouthpiece I'm going to get to go with that kind of color," Booker said. "I'm thinking about my dress code right now."

I farging hate professional athletes. Who farging cares or thinks about shtein like that? Douchebag.
Nice backup for Bwest if he gets hurt. Better than Cbuck, and much, much better than Moats.
Some college clips of Booker I found on youtube, kid does have some sick jukes:
Jukes out entire ND defense (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvPumoZFpl4)
Off the left side then across the grain (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlsnDcoNKtI)
I guess his nickname in college was L Boogie...gay (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WAwDlH_Q2E&feature=related)
His first college TD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-Ql8k8FyPU&feature=related)
Reminds me of Warrick Dunn
Wow, looks like he can see the field really well, and is quick getting to the whole. Least he was on those clips.

love this quote...

"That'd be a dream come true," Booker said yesterday. "Being able to learn from a guy like Brian and be on the field at the same time - if I do what I'm supposed to do, that's going to cause headaches for the defense. Nine times out of 10, they're going to double-cover him before they double-cover me. If one linebacker can guard me, then I don't need to be in the NFL. It's that simple."
In all fairness, he could be talking from experience with the Dolphins linebackers.

oh, wait a second... it wasn't me who loved him, it was igy.
::)
ill be the first to call myself out...but you can do better than that...i loved his interviews...never said anything about him as a player...tho i will admit i had hopes
I'm just kidding with you. I made an ass of myself with Booker in this forum and pretty much everywhere else.
I still can't believe he flamed out like he did, though. Jeez... what an epic bust.
I don't think a guy who was drafted in the 3rd round, then traded for a 4th rounder a year later should be classified as an "epic bust".
Booker was a huge high school prospect, but he wasn't ever 'great' in college and certainly not in the NFL. Seemed like he always had a lot of potential and just never put it together.
Or it could be the fact that a strong breeze will blow him over.
why the farg are we still talking about lorenzo booker?
Because IGY's on a nostalgia trip.
