First real definitive word on the movie being made. I've been re-watching the DVD's lately and the greatest comedy of all time seriously needs this done. And also it's own thread.
What The Wire is for drama, Arrested is for comedy.
It's funny, but it hardly rates such lofty comparison. The Wire is the best television ever, which is to say better than the best comedy ever.
We have the first season on DVD and have also been watching recently. It's very funny. A movie would be cool.

Having never seen the wire, I can't comment fully. But Arrested Development is the best TV show I've ever seen.
I guess I should check it out since you jerk offs are jizzing all over it
Yes you should. So should igy, though he would probably hate it because its funny.
And stars white people. Who simply don't feel his pain.
Carl Weathers and Bounty Hunter, name of Ice are the only brothas in the show. That has to do.
A fair representation of the entire race, I say!

Just like The Wire, I'm sure.
Arrested Development was a great show but let's not get all googly moogly over it. It wasn't the best comedy ever. That was Schindler's List.
Michael: I think George Michael is hiding Ann in the attic
Lindsay: From who, the Germans?
I watched the first 7 episodes of the first season today. Laughing until I cried.
I could seriously watch Pier Pressure on a loop for the rest of my life and never get tried of it.
I'm sure you could simp

QuoteJason Bateman has just confirmed to me that the creative minds behind Arrested Development (Mitch Hurwitz and Ron Howard) have put the wheels in motion toward a major motion picture of the Fox TV comedy so many of us adore. I'm told by insiders that Jason and other Bluth family members have received calls from producers (Hurwitz and Howard) asking if they would be willing to shoot a movie.
"I can confirm that a round of sniffing has started," Bateman says. "Any talk is targeting a poststrike situation, of course. I think, as always, that it's a question of whether the people with the money are willing to give our leader, Mitch Hurwitz, what he deserves for his participation. And I can speak for the cast when I say our fingers are crossed."
Huzzah!

QuoteALIA SHAWKAT: I think it's happening. I don't want to be the one who says too much though ...
Your colleagues have been talking to the press. [Ed: Plus there's this] Chat away.
They did? (Laughs.) Okay, I'm going to say a lot now ...
I got a call from Mitchell Hurwitz, the creator, and he said "so have you heard about this movie we're supposedly doing?" and I said yes. And he said he was in and it was great. And Jason [Bateman], when he was doing all the Juno press, he basically just talked up [Arrested Development] the movie. He got the publicity going before anything was real. So Mitch talked to Ron Howard, who said he would direct it, and he's down. So I think Mitch was like, "I guess I'll write it then," and that's what I think he's doing now. And yes, I'm involved. I think everyone is.
Oh dear god it might actually happen.
Making the show into a movie is cool in concept but could completely flop. It's a 1 hour sitcom and it's as close to perfect as a one hour sitcom has ever been. Trying to string together a movie out of the formula they have could completely backfire.
Oh no doubt. But Mitch Hurwitz is writing it and the entire cast should be back, so I don't see how it could completely blow. It might not be great or as good as an episode of the TV show, it will probably be kind of good to solid like The Simpsons Movie was.
The Simpsons Movie was like an average episode, only longer.
can someone give me even a remotely justifiable reason theres a thread for this
Arrested Development is the funniest TV show ever?
theres an entire thread about a friggin tv show becoming a movie...think about that
not even comic books that become movies get entire threads and they carry fanboydom stronger than anything
troll
AIDS to IGY
the wire is only tv show ever that should be watched. nuke all televisions except for the wire.

ITS GONNA HAPPEN....definite word coming soon
5 people care
I'm one of them.
i hope you stub your toe
I am sure it will be as big a let down as the simpsons movie was.
The Simpsons Movie wasn't a let down if you just went in expecting a 1.5 hour episode instead of some sort of earth-shattering movie experience. I expect the same thing out of the Arrested Development Movie.
And Sun, I already stubbed my toe so thanks a lot dickfore.

It wasn't a 1.5 hour episode. it was a 30 minute episode stretched into 90 minutes.
I don't care other than to make a point that sitcom->movie conversion usually leads to crap. As will this, most likely.
