Title: Proud to still be an Eagles fan.
Post by: hbionic on November 26, 2007, 01:27:04 AM
Yes we lost. Yes, there were still alot of things that I didn't agree with in terms of defensive play calling and some offensive plays.

But this is one of the few games I've seen in recent years that the team, from top to bottom, coaches to players, played all 60 minutes.

Defensively they didn't roll over. They were going to let Welker beat them, not Moss. Offensively, other than for a few miscues, they came out like they didn't care what the Patriots have done this year so far.

These guys showed heart. These guys played like men. I wish the Eagles would game plan every game like they did this one. It seemed like the staff was prepared, and they generally executed.

It really gave me refreshed confidence in Reid and co. and this team. Now, I know alot of you would probably expect that, probably more so coming off a win...but I honestly wish we would see this side of Reid more often than his other side we are used to.

Sheppard and Brown did a general good job tonight. I know there are things there they did that cost us, but they came with their 'A' game.

The loss sucked. It was the Superbowl all over again. But I was proud to see us not go down like other teams have and let the Patriots pound them. We made them sweat a little tonight. Whether that carries over for the rest of the season will be up to the players. But, they came out and showed me more than I expected. I heart the Eagles.

Let's hope we can finish the season 10-6 and make a run at the playoffs.

Go Eagles.

We is damn right. This is Philly's team more than Lurie's. The team has been here long before Lurie and will be here long after he is gone. Same with every player on that roster.

We is the only correct term to use.

Aren't you supposed to be on your honeymoon? Go circumcise your husband with your teeth.

For the record, I wasn't going to watch them the rest of the way if they played like a bunch of Hoydas. They didn't, so they deserved a gay, sappy, 'i'm love the eagles' post from me.

well ive never been ashamed to be eagles fan. i love the fact they put up a fight and were one bad play away from pulling off the biggest upset in football history.

but also im pissed that they can not get this amped and be this ready to play each week. if andy is really going to go all out he needs to call the trick plays like he did last night. just go all out. what do you have to lose now?

also westbrook should have been returning punts all night. not just the last one.

I'm not sure I'm ready to put Westbrook out there on punts.  It isn't all Reed's fault the return game sucks.  The blocking is abominable.

Exactly.  Through the whole game last night, I kept screaming, "Where the farg has this team been all year?"  It's a farging shame that Andy & Co. haven't got this team ready to play like that all year... and haven't been that aggressive all year.  Let's be real.  If he had... GB is a W, CHI is a W, WSH is a W... and not getting his team prepared to play is one of the many reasons he's gotta go.

I'll tell you something else.  I believe that if McNabb had played in this game (even healthy)... it would have turned into that blowout game that we all were predicting.  Not because McNabb can't do better than Feeley... but because AR wouldn't have gameplanned for shtein and would have been content to drop McNabb back 50 times in an empty backfield and let the Pats D tee off on him, causing a rash of fumbles, INT's and 3 and outs.  Westbrook and the running game would have been put at the end of the bench and ignored like the drunk uncle at the family reunion.

I still can't believe that fat farg said that the gameplan doesn't change depending on who the QB is.  So full of shtein.

The infuriating thing about last night to me is that it shows that Reid actually CAN throw together a good gameplan when he really wants to.  It's just that when we're not playing the best team in NFL history without our starting (notice I didn't say "best") QB he's too lazy/distracted/stubborn/some combination of the above to actually do it.

Good gameplan except for the managing timeouts right?

Best of all the team ignored the "inevitable" and played like they had a shot - they acquitted themselves nicely.  But...

They still lost. Losing still sucks. As far as Feeley, well, as Bill Walsh said of DeBerg; "He'll play just well enough to lose you the game".

McNabb's era seemingly ends as his value continues to sink - even when sidelined. Team will be lucky to get anything for him. And we'll be treated to several weeks of fat thumbs, bad throws and sacks-from-behind while it plays out.

They lost again to the AFC - something Reid has never been able to overcome. Since the emergence of this era, it continues unabated.

While ultimately unimportant, they continue to lose primetime games - what is it now, 11 losses out of the last 13? And Reid should be waterboarded for his clock management. Why can't that farg seem to get that right? Why is there no accountability?

Close is OK once or twice. Since farging Jawarski it has been dismal for long stretches and only "close" for the all-to-short peaks. "Close" continues to suck. Kolb better be something or it will be another long stretch of muddled in the middle.

Time for a GM.

Certainly happy with the way the game was played on so many levels but (as noted else where) disturbed how this team seems to play "harder" and better without McNabb.
Title: Re: Proud to still be an Eagles fan.
Post by: Rome on November 26, 2007, 01:47:28 PM
What's disturbing about it?  How many times does this team have to respond positively to a McNabb injury before everyone gets it that Reid game-plans and coaches better without him in there and the players play better without having to walk on eggshells around him?

Get a real quarterback in there who isn't a feeble lame ass like a Mike McMahon and this team is better offensively than they are with McNabb in there.  It's not all McNabb's fault, obviously, and he's still tremendously talented, but without his wheels he's a sub-par NFL quarterback playing in the wrong offensive system in Philly.

Case closed on him, IMO.

I really can't remember when an Eagles played so well against a far superior team at home or on the road.  It's not just that the Pats were 10-0, they beat NYG at the Vet with Buddy when NYG were 10-0 but the Pats were a crushing 10-0 team.  Lots of heart by the Eagle last night...Lewis, Reed and Feeley (for most of the game)..great stuff.  Coaching staff had an aggressive game plan and did great job of getting the players focused for the game...about time :yay

Timeout management doesn't really fall under the category of "gameplanning" IMO.  What I meant was that they came up with a very good X's and O's strategy for probably the first time this year (maybe Detroit, but even that was more a case of us simply overwhelming them).

JR Reed was surprisingly good at SS.  He could actually lay the lumber and did well in pass coverage.  He was very quick to the ball.  I wouldn't mind seeing him in more packages during the year, especially in running and short yardage situations.

I'll say it again just for PPinDC....

I'd like to see them give him a shot next year to start at SS. QM played okay but he's more valuable on the special teams. Reed is shot as a return man but he's somehow maintained his quickness as a safety, and isn't afraid to come up to the line and hit somebody. Get rid of Considine completely and draft a guy to play with Reed after Dawk retires.

youre such an idiot...you see a cripple make one nice hit and flip that into he should start next year at ss...jj's gameplan made him look competant...he didnt ask him to do much of anything except lay back and sit over the top of moss...allowing him to do nothing but wait for the chance to lay a hit like that...

he shouldnt be on team next year year much less starting

He looked good in the small time he got a few years ago when the Eagles were resting the starters...he looked good for the Giants at saftey in pre-season, making one hell of an INT if I remember correctly...and he played well last night against the #1 passing attack in the NFL.

All he's done when given a shot at playing safety is impress. He deserves a shot, because he can't be any worse then Considine has been this year. As I stated I'd still like them to draft a safety, but the 4 safety's on the roster next year should be Dawk, Mikell, Reed, and the high draft pick.

Jesus. Reed is not good. More importantly he can only run in straight lines because otherwise he'll trip over he dead foot. I'm sure he's a riot at parties when he can stab himself and not flinch, but he's basically useless on the football field.

Too bad too, because he looked promising when he could feel his extremities.

i think they installed a speaker in his helmet and just play dog barking noises during a play, that's why he runs so well right now.

Actually he seems to suck at running straight, which is why he blows as a returner now. But somehow he's still managed to be able to be "quick" to the ball, and seems to have good instincts.

Point is, he can't be any worse than Considine was, so might as well give him a shot to compete for it next year. God knows they won't be smart enough to draft someone who can come in and start right away.
