Title: The Real Gold Standard Once Again
Post by: SunMo on October 19, 2007, 09:29:36 AM
Patriots get names of people selling tickets on StubHub (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3069481)

Eagles = do business with them
Pats = sue the shtein out of them so they can revoke season tickets

bravo patriots

its so friggin simple and exactly what i was saying in that thread about the razorgator shtein

it takes a couple clicks of the computer to find out what tickets are being scalped...in fact every team should hire a full time employee just to monitor ticket scalping....you see a seat location being scalped you give a warning (or two) then after that you yank the tickets and give them to the first person on the waiting list

I honestly believe the Eagles "misplaced" their waiting list.

I would gladly do that for the Eagles for an annual salary of two (2) season tickets.

And kudos to the Pats.

I don't get what the problem is?

You can't sell your own tickets to someone else for a profit if there is someone willing to pay you that amount? ???

Doing business with them would be fine, if they just kepts to PA law in that you can not sell more than 10% face value.

I believe that law is actually off the books now.

It's still there as far as i know, but the loophole that allows the sale at almost any price is to just sell the tickets outside of the state.

so the eagles should care more about making sure their tickets stay under a designated scalping limit than their own waiting list

how bout taking the tickets away from the people who own them for no other reason that to make money and give them to people who will use them every game

Hm. Well now "as far as i know" means a little bit more.

The more different people that go to games, the more people in the community who will support taxpayer-funded facilities, security, transportation, etc for the Eagles. The Eagles definitely do not want the same 70,000 people at every game. They want a broad cross-section of people to be able to get their hands on tickets and that is why they tolerate scalping, because they benefit from it.

If all they cared about was getting the hardest core 70,000 people at the game, the Eagles would sell the tickets at market price (far above current ticket prices) and institute some kind of identification system.

Seems like Bob Kraft learned quite a bit from his visit to the Kremlin a few years back.

Yeah, like how to kick ass like the Russian Mafia and strong-arm scalpers. Oh and pull off spying like the KGB...almost.
