I'll start this off with a quote by you-know-who that had me laughing hysterically and projectile vomiting at the same time:
QuoteIt takes a village of 53 men to win an NFL game.
That's a very, very lonely village that will die out completely in 70-80 years.
QuoteWESTBROOK A GAME-TIME DECISION?
We're told that the availability of Eagles running back Brian Westbrook won't be known until at or close to game time.
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Westbrook can barely move without experiencing abdominal pain. He is pressing hard to play, but coach Andy Reid is reluctant to let him.
Stay tuned.
Ward and Jacobs are out for the Jints too....so Reuben Droughns gets the start

I have a hard time believing the Eagles offense won't be able to roll without Westbrook. It is the Giants after all. We'll move the ball fine.
To me the key is getting pressure on Eli.
Got to.
Even with a hobbled Plax, this secondary needs every ounce of help it can get. Hopefully Will James gives the Jints the proverbial finger for letting him go and has a great game.

Unfortunately, it seems that the Week 1 and 2 McNabb is back right now.
Buck looks good, running really hard...just hold on to the dam ball!
...and the boner goes away thanks to a groundball by McNabb... and then the drop by Curtis...

McNabb is a gimp. I'm not blaming the O-line. He has had enough time to pass and has lanes to throw, he is just holding the ball too long again.

Good point. It has nothing to do with the bum players, most notably the soft-minded, weak-kneed QB.
Sell McNabb for glue. I'd rather have Barbaro's corpse at QB.
:-D :-D :-D
man someone is still salty over his comments. im sure when hes dropping back and seeing a rush up the middle every play hes thinking "OMG IM SOFT!".
i remember last week all we heard was extra blockers to help mcnabb out. where is that today? in fact when they even run their play action passes they usually use the back to chip the DE....but i dont even see that tonight.
D has been ok so far but it could easily be 17-0.
I love how everyone was all over McNabb's dick last week and tonight he sucks. The dude is fine and is still mobile. Few QBs out-run Osi. Would a McNabb with a 100% knee out-run Osi? Maybe, maybe not. He needs time to throw though. Had it last week and was fine. No QB does good with this kinda pressure in their face. No one.

Contrary to popular belief, QBs need some protection.

It'd be nice to see some pass-pro every once in awhile. Justice looks like shtein. He's lucky to have gotten away with only 1 FS penalty because he's rocking back nearly every damn snap.
No Westbrook + No Smith + No Tra = abortion
yeah a brain dead coach would realize that with the O line in shambles and the best player on the team hurt...maybe we should not do so many play actions...cause no one is being fooled by it. not only that it just reduces the time mcnabb has in the pocket. seems like every play as soon as he drops back there is a rush up the middle of osi is coming off the edge.
spagnolia prolly knows how predictable our offense it. he prolly told them to not bite on our play actions.

But, most notably, the players suck... especially your boy Donovan McNabb. He's done.
yup...i'm sure
A running game would slow down that pass rush also.
But McNabb is done. He doesn't get to play the Lions at home wearing scintillating yellow and blue every week. Sometimes, he has to win divisional games on the road against the odds.
McNabb will never win this team a game again. The best he can do is not lose.

You're on crack, dude. He is not as mobile as he can be, and he's having a harder time breaking tackles. Plus, the non-existent protection is getting him killed.
Course, Buck's averaging like 7 yds a carry. Ride him into the farging ground. Westbrook will be back after the bye, then we won't need him.

I've actually said the same thing "off line" about McNabb, even after last week. Sure, he can still take advantage of a crappy defense and put up numbers at times, but he's not going to be the guy to take a team on his shoulders and just win. He's worn down physically and he's never been great mentally.
The Eagles need better coaching, a running game, and good defense to win now. The QB is just a piece of the offense and no longer the playmaker he once was. TRUTH.
A runback with no penalty called...quality start
The defense is going to have to win this.
I enjoyed watching Don grab his bad knee after that sack. Awesome.
How do they miss such an obvious facemask?
Only chance we have is if Manning starts throwing stupid picks. The offense is abysmal.
STOP COMMITTING PENALTIES
Remember when I posted about how the Eagles passed so well last week cause they protected McNabb and only had two wideouts... how come every down tonight I see at least three wide outs...
They saw the 15 yrd face mask that time.

Andy Reid teams before byes. It makes no sense.
Better get protection now or else 9-0.
I love watching Considine get run over. Seriously, I actually get a kick out of it. One of these days I'll recieve the ultimate pleasure of seeing him not get up.

well last week they also played a D that bit hard on the play actions.
today reid seems to have made no adjustments and thinks the same game plan applies here.
im sure we will come out and run maybe on 1st down and then just go out of shotgun for the rest of the drive.
The penalty shtein is starting to get ridiculous. Gaithers hand grazed Wards face yet he got a 15 yarder, didn't even see the last one as it didn't seem anyone in the stadium did. McNabb was facemasked the end of the last series and Andrews got a holding call.

it was mcnabbs fault. he didnt pass within a millisecond of the snap.
I'd have done that after week 2.
How about Reno Mahe. Miracle at Meadowlands pt 2.

McNabb looked like my 80 year old mother in the pocket and Justice blocked like my one year old nephew. If i didn't have the phils to cheer me up this post would be 7 pages long.
window has about an inch and a half left before it is shut. completely shut.
So, I didn't miss much getting to bed at a decent time, huh?
MMH will end up being right on that 4-12 prediction. My 8-8 pick was based on some home that McNabb would be back to his form.
Detroit must be kicking themselves for allowing this team to score so much last week. The Eagles scored more in that one game than in their three losses combined.
The Phils players are calling this team a bunch of Hoydas.

Sheldon stops by a minute later...says the team is too inconsistent
id say theyve been consistently bad this year
They dominated the powerhouse 3-1 Detroit Lions. So that's the inconsistency.
Bad coaching. Horrendous depth at key positions. Mediocre, past-his-prime QB.
Super. Bowl.

i hate andy reid more than anyone but in my entire life of watching pro sports i have never seen an athlete play a worse game than winston justice played tonight
I dont care how many bull-rushes come out you. You dont get pushed over like that and land with both feet in the air. Where is the balance? Who coached him this week? Did they see any tape? Can Justice spell tape?
Ok....so now you see your left tackle getting pummeled. Maybe you might want to put a TE over there to help f-in block Usi. But why do that?
Andy Reid has completely embarrassed himself as a coach.

they should have either spread it our 4-5 WR so the giants would have had to back off from the blitz or gone to 2 TE 2WR sets with a FB in the backfield to provide even more protection. they did not do any of those.
where was the flea flicker?
Quotethey should have either spread it our 4-5 WR
not in our lifetime will we see that
Vanilla
Strahan says it all:
"That poor kid that they had over there," Strahan said. "Why didn't they help him? I felt, in an odd way, you could ruin the guy. It's his first start and that's what he gets. It's not a good thing."
the national media will never pick on these things...they all think reid is some amazing coach and guru.
and i have seen them spread it out 4-5 wide WRs....only when they do not need to.

i turned the game off when mcnabb was sacked on the 4rth down play so i dont know if your talking about last night.
but i have seen the eagles be up by a sizeable lead and still come out passing for no reason with 4-5 wide WRs. in fact they did that just last week.

Osi said essentially the same thing in a post game interview yesterday.
Unreal. The guys who are benefitting most from Reid's stupidity can even see that they needed to help him.
Reid has always been shtein at adjusting during a game. But historically he has had his team well prepared with a game plan going into the game. Meticulous about it, even. But not this season. They've been completely lost on offense every game. Reminds of the Buddy Ryan "Everyone go long" days.
That's why he needs to go. He's not putting enough into the games. Maybe it's worrying about his kids, but I don't give a farg why. Just make the change. It was a nice run, now get the farg out. Fat farg.

Totally agree. There were times when no matter what, we could rely on the idea that Andy had his team ready with an effective gameplan and exactly where they were going to attack the opposition. Not now... not even close.
From going into the season with no punt returner, to (again) ignoring Westbrook in the running game, to the painfully obvious fact that he had absolutely NO intention of giving his young LT any help against a good pass rusher. This team has looked absolutely clueless for 12 out of the 16 quarters it's played this season. Not just bad... incompetent.
Whatever it is... Andy not putting as much into the gameplanning, the team not buying into him anymore... whatever it is. It's time to make that change. Get him the farg out of here.
i am sure after last week's victory reid saw no reason to game plan for this game. he prolly told the guys "hey do what u did to detroit".
right as the game was starting nb cut to their sideline female reporters for those las min updates or whatever...and i remember the one from the giants sideline said "coughlin knows they are going to attack his 2ndary". cept we never did. this was a game where i wanted to see 3-4-5 wide with the likes of greg lewis and even baskett.
No more starting game threads for me, I guess.
quotes like that from an opponent should get people fired
I need to rant...bare with me
just like Reid's family he's lost control of the team. he needs to be canned. its so fargin obvious, why isn't there a overwhelming outcry from the city, from the fans, from the players?!!?
WTF!
Buckhalter proved he can run the ball, but can't catch or block for a damn thing.
Why was reno fargin mahe even in the game?
Donovan McNabb looked like shtein, but can't say I blame him for his performance. How many times did he get hit? 30+ times! Coming off surgery? Thats a fargin crime for putting your franchise QB in the frying pan like that. Reason enough for the FO to clean house on the coaches. The sad thing is he's been put in horrible positions ever since TO left. I can now say with 100% confidence that his injuries are a direct result of the playcalling. Piss fargin poor
No adjustments were made at half-time, NONE.
The point of the ex-eagles LB coach knowing the system and taking advantage of that just makes it even more obvious that Reid and Co. can't make adjustments and don't have a game plan. Did they not think about him knowing everything? Doesn't a bell go off in the head that says, hmmmm....we should really switch things up this week.
One sort of positive thing I have is that the defense has been somewhat consistent, unlike the offense. But I'm not ready to crown them yet. They have yet to play a team that is good so far. The Packers, the Lions, the taterskins and the Giants? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH 1-3?!
I can only hope and pray this continues all year long and that everyone starts realizing what the problems are. Here's to a good draft pick and a new coach(s). AND WE PRAY :evil

huh? unless i totally missed it i did not see the eagles spread it out 4-5 wide this game. maybe a play or 2 but not really.
Andy fired yet?
