Eagles football is back (sorta).
One request: no injuries please.
NFL Network midnight on Monday and 4PM on Wednesday
FOX 45 @ 7 pm in the Delmarva/Baltimore area.
Feeley to start with Kolb playing second half. link (http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/99-08132007-1391903.html)
main things to look for:
Bloom in the return game
SAM spot (Gogong and Bradley)
Bunkley
Considine stopping a running play
Kolb
I'm fired up to see TS in an Eagles uni. Can't wait to see how good this D will be.
Not playing:
McNabb
LJ Smith
QuoteAlso out for Monday's game are the following: defensive tackles Montae Reagor (knee) and Ian Scott (knee), guard Shawn Andrews (ankle), cornerbacks Dustin Fox (Achilles) and Lito Sheppard (oblique), free safety Brian Dawkins (Achilles), wide receiver Bill Sampy (quad) and linebacker Dedrick Roper (foot).
Is this Bucks last game?
hopefully he wears a knee brace... if he makes it through this game he's always been fine
Brent Celek!
nah, more rashad barksdale
Since it's not on television here live and it's on NFL Network at midnight, I'm debating whether I should follow along a little or just not pay attention to the game at all until I watch it so I don't know what happens. Then again when the game is airing on NFLN they still have the bottom line show the score and stats and shtein.
settle down its just a preseason game
I had a dream about an Andy Reid press conference annoucning that Bradley was going to start over Gocong.
I need to stop thinking about football.
you need to stop breathing

you have to register and then download the program and then go to the following link for the eagles game:

Spadaro gonna look crunk tonight. Probably wearing a white polo and some black pants. Big stuff, kids. Big stuff.

is wysp available on the internet?
got it! wysp is available. much nicer listening to merrill.
defense schemefense wes got jon dorenbos
So, will they be stopping the run this year, but not the pass? Fun.
Will James looks lost. Spikes looks great at the point of attack but east/west he's overpursing and missing easy tackles.
Missed a 23 yard pass to Westbrook so Spew could interview Banner :-D

The replay sucked ass too. Andy already abandoned the run.
O-line needs work. Of course they miss the FG.
Scott Young is getting farging manhandled. Embarassing.
Ravens' tight ends were running rampant on that long drive. Looks like they were trying to keep Gocong from covering the TE. Didn't see a push at all from the D Tackles, Kearse look invisible except for when Heap smoked him.
Considine looks active at least, and filled nicely on a couple running plays.
Bunkley looks good. He's still firing out to high but he's getting penetration on every play. He was doubled a few times.
anyone else trying sopcast? this thing sucks....it connected to the channel carrying the game but its still buffering and i cant get any audio or video.

Sopcast sucks. I dont think I've ever had anything work on there.
For those in the DC/Bawlmar area its on MASN2.
ur not missing a damn thing. they look horrendous as usual...the game is over already...god i hate preseason
:evil :evil :evil :evilplease no injuries :evil :evil :evil
What is really sucking is the offensive line.
That was Hunt in there the last few plays right? Got shook out of his shoes on that sack? Annoucers keeps saying it's C-Buck....not sure who it is, but I think it's Hunt....
It's Hunt.
The things that are looking bad are the things that we usually do absolutely fine with in the regular season so no worries there. Like the pass defense and offensive line.
The run defense was ok other than that big run. Bunkley has looked good. Spikes looked good other than that one missed tackle.
Bloom looks pretty explosive, just needs to know what lanes to hit. That will come with experience.
Hunt looked good running and catching. Bad missed block. Again, will come with experience.
Darren Howard looked good.
How much can you make out of a preseason game though.
Quote from: King Cole on August 13, 2007, 08:03:13 PM
How much can you make out of a preseason game though.
A lot. Players are cut based on pre-season games.
The Ravens D-line is getting big time penatration.
The coaches make their roster based on the games, but as projecting regular season strengths and weaknesses, the preseason isn't the best thing to go by.
i can say that they look the same as last year...no run game, all passes. can't stop the run...nor any coverage...just awful from 1st and 2-3 teams
bloom doing good on returns so far
bunkley looks good
no one else standing out so far
akers....shanked one bad
penalties out the ass
:-D
Right now, the Eagles O-line is getting manhandled.
The Eagles backup o-lines get manhandled every preseason. Not saying that is a good or bad thing. It is what it is.
Oh and cut LJ. Celek = manbeast.
Celek does look pretty damn good. I like that he doesn't catch the ball and fall down. That's new. Looks like he has decent wheels. Might be a steal there.
I thought Barksdale was going to light up Anderson when Boller hung him out to dry, but he didn't.
Barksdale=Weaksauce.
Celek looks great. Holcombs looked decent when he's had time to throw the ball.
Barksdale looks decent.
Bloom injured his toe. He's gone in for X-rays.
sopcast finally decided to work...but half....im getting audio.
its a eagles broadcast...im not sure who though. is this ike reese doing the game?

Yeah, Ike Reese. It was posted in some other thread.

Reese (love him but he's brutal in the booth) and Gus Johnson with Spads as the sideline bitch.
i wouldn't call Ike brutal, it's his first time doing it and while he's not great, he's ok.
Nice play by Barksdale, but he didn't even turn around and could have been called for interference.

Herremans was in for the first series I think. It's shocking to me how disjointed the backup lines seem though. I know they don't get to gel much like a first unit, but they look completely lost. The Ravens backup lines look a whole lot better. Some guys are doing awesome on blocking there man, Justice has had some nice blocks, but they go off and leave the gaurds backside open or something similar. They have no idea where their other O-lineman are. Huge gaps that the Ravens are just running through for sacks. Four in the first half.
Oh, Jean Gilles = Beast. He lifted a D-tackle up and pancaked him on one play, looked like he was tossing a rag.

Jesus, 4 sacks already, guys running in untouched.
not many bright spots in the first half, but i think you'd have to say they were:
bloom
bunkley
celek
i was really surprised that Gocong came out with with the first team defense. does that mean he has the SAM all locked up? even if he does, don't you want him getting a ton of preseason reps?

i just think he's bringing some decent insight. his delivery isn't great, but his content is pretty good. while Sarge is usually just master of the obvious.

go-kong has zero nfl experience so yeah, i want him out there....andy said he'd play quite a bit.
and bloom's injury better not be serious or we're looking at another average to below average return game this season.
i thought so
celek is the only positive on offense, but nothing great. didn't notice him blocking....he made a good run after a catch, but the defender let him basically...hah

Kolb throw as seriously nice ball. Not a lot of arc, looks extremely catchable.
I forgot the name of the cats announcing for the Ravens (I'm in D.C. watching on MASN2), but they are normally national type guys, do regular season games, but they are just brutal right now. Kept calling Hunt Buckhalter, all except for one screen play, and they were just talking about Moats: "Yeah, Moats is really a key piece for them, he filled in key roles for them down the stretch and helped them make the playoffs..." WTF? They also call Avant A-vant and Baskett Bas-KETT. Farging annoying. They also have zero idea who is who on the Eagles it seems, even the farging starters. I muted it already.
don't worry, the Eagles play by play guy is the exact same way, it's Gus Johnson, he does games for CBS and he's brutal right now
cut Celek
Wow. All of the backups look completely lost.
Moats keeps getting lit up standing around like a fool. That one play where Kolb almost got sacked, Moats just stopped, turned his back to the defense, and got farging smoked. That was the second or third time too. :-D

but yeah the hunt thing was bothering me too.
why is it every time Baltimore runs a bootleg the entire defense follows the back, but when the Eagles run one it's covered perfectly and Kolb is looking out of his earhole?

Barksdale is in the secondary. Being that he is the second coming of Christ, they can go all out after the back and leave Barksdale to cover any attempted bootleg or apocalypse.

moats is down for the count.
Moats is down. Probably a broken ankle or something.
Moats
it's something with his left foot/ankle and they brought the cart out
everybody is praying for him...except Iloa, who is praying a prayer of thanks
That second angle sure looked like an achilles injury to me, and I am better informed than Dr. Spads.
Dick Stockton just said something along the lines of 'With Buckhalter out all of last year, Moats who they got because he's similar to Buckhalter, took his place and did a great job.' Ass.
Reid just walked up to Moats and he was laying on the field, and I think the conversation went like this:
Capt. Fatty: "Moats, can you get up?"
Window Licker: "Ow. No."
Capt. Fatty: "Ok. You're cut."
Window Licker: "Shocker. Can I still blog on PE.com?"
nevermind....fractured ankle

Unfortunately for Ilaoa, Moats is only phase 1 of him making the team.
Anyway, I'm glad Moats is done. I don't want him taking reps from guys who actually should make the team.
it was broken before the game, he had his buddy bash his leg so he could get another year salary in the NFL before he goes to play in the Arena league
Kolb to Celek for a first down. The highlight of the night...
bloom is looking good. really nice catch with a guy on him.
and when they were taking moats off, dick stockton said he could read his lips and moats said, "get me my cell phone so i can call my wife."
they showed it again and he most definitely did not say that. is moats even married?
Like with McNabb, the Eagles are holding back the good stuff for the home crowd.

Rocca got farged up Feagles style and Ike is hot about it. i don't think he felt the same way the Trotter did the same thing
yeah they said 65 yards but it seemed longer than that. and that was with no room to take a few steps.
bye dirk.
...and he had a 60-yd punt wiped out because of the penalty
ha....Spadaro says Rocca thought everyone on the field was an eligible receiver
Is Moats dead yet? How about Scott Young? Something good has to come out of this preseason.

He was jogging down the field on an angle when one of the ravens came over and threw a shoulder into him knocking him on his ass. Gasperson came over and clipped the raven as retaliation. It was a cheap shot on a kicker in the preseason. Rocca bounced right back up and was seen laughing on the sidelines immediately afterwards.

Gaither-Bradley-Gocong in 2 years?
:paranoid
My observations are basically the same as everyone else:
Celek looked good, he will obviously replace either LJ or Schobel next year. (chris cooley's contract is up at the end of this year and the taterskins only have money for players from other teams..)
BBunk looked very good, very active.
Bloom looked quick.
Why the hell didn't gocong play more?
Rocca is used to taking hits, so I'm not really surprised that he wasn't bothered by it. He's also used to kicking the ball really far and with some amount of accuracy.
Run D is a problem...we get bigger at LB, but still have trash at 3,4 DT position. But for DE we are stocked, confused why we drafted that when the problem was no inside pressure. If we rotate our dline as much as dline1 and 1a, and have 6 DE's - our DT's that are getting as much snaps as our high draft picks are Scott and Reagor? I wonder if JJ/Reid says farg it and go big next draft and admit the have to get bigger (like they did with RB and LB this past year)
Patterson was busy spinning around in a circle, hoping to give the bmore oline a case of the dizzies.
Supposedly Rosenhaus told BDSSP that McDougle tore his tricep and is done for the year. Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else though...

Supposedly Rosenhaus told BDSSP that McDougle tore his tricep and is done for the year. Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else though...
His brother Stockar tore his achilles and is out for the season - maybe it was him.
Either injury would have about the same level of effect on the Eagles this season.

anything on Ramsey
Breaking news on PE.com....McDougle done for the year again
die already
If McDougle was a horse they would have put him down already.
Worst pick ever considering what they gave up to get him and his almost total lack of production.

good lord.. #$%^%(

close to it...what a disaster....of course they will spion it that he was a case of bad luck with the injuries and what not...fact is guy couldnt play when he was healthy
and Stockar ruptured his Achilles, so both of 'em are done for the year...
Jon Harris was bad because he was picked about three rounds too high by a completely clueless fool but that wasn't his fault. Antone Davis was bad because of what they had to give up to get him. And Kevin Allen was horrible because he sucked and was a convicted rapist to boot.
Still - McDougle's turned out to be a colossal bust - the type of bust, in fact, that most teams don't recover from easily. In fact, the Eagles haven't even though they drafted Killa Cole and he's turned out to be everything McDougle was supposed to be.
eagles getting defensive linemen = bad
eagles getting offensive linemen = good

According to accounts of the game, they were all turnstiles in Baltimore.
yeah because a meaningless preseason game is a perfect capsule of the offensive line andy has put together over the last oh almost ten years
Are you OK with the depth on the OL, then?
I'm scared shteinless if Andrews is out for any regular season games and/or any other starters miss significant time.
it worked out fine in New Orleans for the playoff game
OMG! did spads really just say that he's surprised the eagles havent asked reno back since moats got hurt... holy shtein he's smoking crack.

Indeed.
youre arguing apples and oranges...in general andy has put together nice offensive lines over his time here and substandard defensive lines
i wasnt talking about the depth on this years team
but since you asked im at best ok with it but leaning towards worried...why is scott young still ahead of mjg?...ive also not seen a single play that would show winston justice has the ability to play in this league...still tho right now im not prepared to lose sleep over back up linemen
I still dont see the McDougle report on PE.com
QuoteThe news was not as good for running back Ryan Moats, defensive end Jerome McDougle and guard Stefan Rodgers. All three are likely done for the year after suffering injuries on Monday. Moats fractured his left ankle in the third quarter of Monday's game and according to head coach Andy Reid surgery is pending. McDougle has a "significant" right triceps injury and Reid said his status would be updated in the near future. Rodgers has a right lis franc sprain and will see an ankle specialist Wednesday.
Whatever. Let's hope that the Eagles used up their "out for the season during the preseason" injuries up with useless player like Moats and McDougle. It's bound to happen, so it might as well happen on players who weren't gonna contribute anything in the first place.
anything on Ramsey
QuoteRamsey has a right high ankle sprain and will also be out Friday.

I'm also concerned that MJG isn't ahead of Scott Young yet. I was thinking MJG was going to be competing for starting time.
I'm thinking they have MJG behind Young to get the fat boy motivated. Everything I've read say he is a freaking manbeast, but still needs to work on his technique, specificall pass protection. I think if Andrews were to be a out a significant amount of time, we'd see MJG in there.
that dude should've shot mcdougle in the head & saved us a couple years.
