Exciting stuff.
I own SunMo by 2 seconds.
Agreed, therefore your post is going to be the one we discuss him in.
SunMo also spelled Clemson wrong. This one is 100x better.
There's no profile for him on NFL.com's draft site.
I was wrong. He's listed as a safety.
QuoteJunior. Good size, athletic ability. Will go up for the ball. Plays wide corner. Struggled vs WFU in the 1st half. Played much better in the 2nd. Had an INT in the 4th Qtr. CLEM was in Cover 2. CJ dropped into the short area, then peeled off to the slot receiver. Looked like the QB was eyeing the slot. CJ stepped in front of the ball for an easy pick. Returned it 21 yds. Plays trail coverage a lot. Can be a good, wrap-up tackler. Doesn't backpedal very much. Will come up and play the run. Has good feet. Moves well. Has fluid hips. At times, will look very good with his backpedal and break. Picked off pass vs SC. Had Rice in the slot and just cut underneath him to snag the ball. Shows excellent awareness. Will blitz off the edge. Fast. Played some Safety in 2005.
SUMMARY
Outstanding natural talent. Big enough to play Safety, but athletic enough to play CB. The fact he's coming out early and split time between spots did not give him a chance to develop into a really good player. Should be a better pro than college player. I think he's too talented to use at Safety. Some team that likes big CBs should turn him into a press corner. Has 1st Rd talent, but will likely be a 2nd or 3rd Rd player because he needs work.
Just go to scoutsnotebook.com, it's way better.
i submit to you
You fargers are fast. I'll get you on #162 though.
i think not
From Yahoo!
The good: Gaddis is a strong athlete who has all the skills needed to become a quality NFL corner - size, speed and tackling ability. He is very aggressive in both run support and coverage and plays a physical game with strong hands that enable him to use the bump and run well. He matches up well with big wideouts and can be physical both at line and in coverage with the power to make big hits. In run support, he is one of the better tacklers with the ability to get off blocks and deliver big hits.
The bad: He needs further development on his basic technique and reads to be ready to cover NFL caliber receivers. He is not yet completely comfortable on the corner and needs reps in both man and zone coverage. His basis technique needs improvement with a lower backpedal and better plant and drive skills to break on the ball. His recognition skills are inconsistent and he can be slow to recognize routes and plays, negating his athleticism. In the deep game, he can lose sight of the ball in the air and allow big plays with inconsistent ball skills and slow to pick up the route and the pass that hurts his final grade.
Outlook: Physical, raw cover man with the athletic ability to make an NFL roster. He needs to show quick development in several critical areas. He should be an early factor in the dime package, and has the potential to develop into a starting corner. Nice upside with the physical package to be a tough gunner on special teams while he develops. Could possibly move to safety, but only after a look at corner. Top 150 athlete and a nice late steal.
His HS coach thinks he should have stayed in school one more year (http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=rivals-117197&prov=rivals&type=lgns)

I like it. Wanted the guy from Wyoming, but I'm cool with Gaddis. I watched a ton of Clemson games this year and he impressed me. And we've done OK with DBs from Clemson in the past.

Darrell Crutchfield was pretty good!!
I think he'll play safety. He's a former QB, too.
I like the Clemson connection with Dawkins.
I'd be shocked if they didn't slate him at FS.

Is it out of the realm of possibility for them to still get him?

Not really, although I have no idea why he's still there. Someone could have taken him late round 2 and no one would have commented. Has really good size and awesome athletic ability, supposedly the Eagles were interested in taking him round 2.
I really like the Gaddis pick. Probably my favorite of the draft, which makes it a pretty sad draft.
whats his height and weight>?
Like 6' 195 pounds. On philadelphiaeagles.com they're projected him to be a FS.
NFL has 6 and 210.
i like the gaddis pick but it goes against andy's philosophy of picking the best available white guy.
...
He's raw, but has talent. He's got great leaping ability and isn't afraid to bust heads. NFL.com says he has room on his frame to bulk up for the safety position. They also say with his speed he could possibly return kicks. I think he could step right in now and be one hell of a special teamer. He hits hard.
He needs to develop more. He's one hell of an athlete though and could turn into a good player.
I wouldnt be surprised if the Eagles plan to have Gaddis at FS and Considine at SS in the future. They've continually said they dont feel they need to look for a safety in the 1st or 2nd round to get an effective player, and this is the perfect example. He can develop into a very good FS and although I hate saying this type of thing because it generally sounds stupid as hell, but Dawkins can help teach him.
This pick is one of two that really stick out to me in the draft regarding the guy in the present and the guy for the future. The first one is Dwayne Jarrett. You can compare him to Keyshawn Johnson. Both went to USC. They are both tall possession receivers that arent fast, but not real slow either. They each have great hands. Keyshawn's career is ending and hopefully he teaches Jarrett.
Gaddis seems to me a lot like Dawkins. Both played cornerback and safety for Clemson. They each have pretty good speed and good hands. Both of them are very good hitters. Dawkins came out of college smaller than Gaddis, but they're about the same size now. He's a really good fit to replace a great player, and then have pretty much the same player for the following decade. I know it's too early to predict this stuff, but I've got a good feeling about him.

Sounds like JR Reed. Hopefully he'll stay away from barbed-wire fences and angry dogs.
It wasnt even a barbed wire fence. Someone posted a picture of the exact fence it was when the Eagles were still doing stories on his rehab. Looked pretty bad.
i like this kid....their best pick of the draft

5a - Gaddis:
Finally, the defensive backfield was addressed in the draft. Gaddis is a former QB, so you have to figure he's a natural fit to play safety. The Eagles are putting him right in as the understudy for Dawkins at FS, while Considine and Mikell will fight for playing time at SS. Considering need and value, this is my favorite pick of the draft. B+.

This must mean the release of Dawkins is imminent.
has dawks father weighed in on this pick?
No, but he should. He should be called by the Daily News, Daily News Live and then WIP should talk about it incessantly.

He kind of looks like JR Reed to me in that pic. I wonder if he's going to use his visor that he had at Clemson.
So Gaddis is getting reps with the S's and Barksdale with the CB's? Or is that picture is that a picture of all the DB's together?
LOOK HOW BEEFY AND DREAMY CONSIDINE LOOKS
he looks like a gym teacher
at least he doesn't look like a 15 year old anymore.
write now as im typing this cj gaddis is a better safety than sean considine
yes no?
no
No, 3 years from now, yes
it's close...cause Considine sucks
No. He will be, I think, by midseason, but still won't replace him. He's going to be a beast next year though.
No way.
Let's slow down the Gaddis hype. You're on the Barksdale train, IGY.
Considine, if he can be what Damon Moore was at least, then they will be OK at SS.
what gaddis hype?
im luke warm on him but i still would rather have him gettin pt than considine
Thats crazy.
Look, we all know Considine ain't what we've been told he can/should/will be. However, when looking at the facts he was basically a rookie last year. He should get a little bit more than however many games he started to prove he sucks or can do something, no?
gaddis has more talent in his left scroat than considine has in his whole body
i know its not realistic to expect cj to beat out considine because the staff wants sean to succeed sooooo bad!
but in the real world if they were both to start from the same spot my money would be on cee jay

That rocks.
wow that looked totally effortless. :o
That looks like an intrasquad scrimmage. Still, nice shot by Gaddis. If he's willing to farg up his own teammate in practice, I can't wait to see what he'd be willing to do to an opponent.

It should be a requirement that each of our safeties have a WWF-esque "finisher". Dawk has the plex, CJ has the spear. Maybe get considine on roids so he can do the Ultimate Warriors "Gorrila Press".
I'm gonna go ahead and nominate that for Worst Idea Ever.

QuoteGaddis Agrees To Terms On 4-Year Deal
May 25, 2007
By CHRIS McPHERSON
Safety C.J. Gaddis and the Eagles agreed to terms on a four-year deal Friday. The team's fifth-round pick out of Clemson - the 159th overall - is the third draft pick in the last two days to agree on a deal joining linebacker Stewart Bradley and running back Tony Hunt ...
