Title: Discovery Channel: Planet Earth Series
Post by: hbionic on April 23, 2007, 01:50:08 PM
Anyone else catching this series? This is my next purchase. What an awesome documentary? They make even the smallest of things seem awesome. This is a must see series.

It's like IGY's jungle camera but a million times better.  :yay

Great series, there was some talk about them in the TV shows thread. I catch them every Sunday on HD, the one about the Caves lastnight was amazing.

I sometimes try to picture myself as one of those insects and try to feel how they're feeling. It's a pretty farged feeling when your wing is glued on to a mucus strand and suddenly you're being hoisted up to be eaten. Not cool.

The ants that get fungus to grow inside them was crazy.  When they start acting sick, the worker ants carry them far away from the rest of the camp to avoid the spray of the spores.

yeah, that was crazy. They said that there was one parasite for every type of insect? So that no one species gets too powerful. That's insane. How they even know that is crazier...god bless'em.

The bird of paradise was cool and how it did that little dance.

Seeing the hot air balloon crash into the tree was pretty funny.

Getting that camera view from the chopper was dope. Seeing that young calf try to outrun the wolf was dope from up in the air.

The great white shark slow-motion shot was awesome.

like all nature shows...it gets tedious after a while and is also amazing at times...i cant watch a full episode straight thru...

the footage of the great white shark attacking the seal was the shtein

the HD is amazing as well...its what makes it...i probably wouldnt even watch any of it were it not for that...

The penguins were absolutely amazing. The whole process.

That Lechuguilla cave was amazing too.

I saw all the episodes but will probably watch some of them again.

The version being broadcast in England is better.  I read it in Entertainment Magazine.
