I'm going to Arizona this Friday til Tuesday for friends wedding and I have family out there also. Planning on going up to Sedona/Oak Creek Canyon area Monday for some sight seeing and wine tasting. Also Prescott where my uncle is building his retirement rancher. I've been to AZ a bunch of times and love it, especially northern AZ.
Have Canada in September, but those are only two trips going on this spring/summer. Next year I'm lookin at Ireland and a cruise on the Caribbean.
Anyone got any other cool trips planned for the future and or want to share old trips, go ahead here.
im going to savannah this summer...anyone have any good bars restaurants things to do there id love the suggestions
on the same trip im going to florida to my girls mothers house in palm coast...about 20 minutes north of daytona
i went to canada (niagara falls) two years ago mussa...loved it
i also did a caribbean cruise last year...that was farging great....probably will do it again next year or the year after
My wife's company is sending us on an all-expenses-paid week to the Grand Wailea on Maui.
Planning to go back to Houlton, Maine at my inlaw's cabin on the Lake. We're also supposed to be getting a week down in the OuterBanks of NC in August. Usually we rent this place Possible Dream (http://elan.vrmreservations.com/vrmgr/rental/PropertyDisplay.aspx?PropertyId=47&WebCode=all&ReturnPath=/vrmgr/search/WebGroupList.aspx) but we were not planning on the NC trip this year until recently. If you try to book something this late usually you can get a large discount if the renter is just looking to cover mortgage costs
I'm hoping to do a Caribbean vacation in August, but I'm not sure exactly where yet. The wife wants one the all-inclusive places, which is fine with me...but that kind of limits the locations a bit.
I was thinking of doing a 4 or 5 day trip to Iceland in September. The local AAA has a trip offering, and I wanted to get some of my neighbor buddies to go. But it doesn't look like it'll happen. Maybe next year.
Other than that, I'll have to be content with A.C. every couple of months.
So far, the only "vacation" I'm taking this year is to go out to KC in a couple of weeks to meet up with a good friend of mine who will be returning from Iraq at the end of this month. I'm also going on a couple job interviews while I'm out there. Yay vacation!
I'm probably going to 'vacation' in Brooklyn a few times this year. Which translates to get drunk, wrestle my friends in the street and excrete in inappropriate places.
Annual trek to Albany, the first week of August, for 10 days at training camp.
Hoping to get back to Jamaica at some point this year.
Re: The all-inclusive packages: You're not as limited in locations as you may think. Pick a spot and some hotel in the area is likely to offer a package deal.
We may hit Maine later this summer.
Other than that, I'm stuck in Hurricane Central.

Thanks! Part of the problem is trying to get everybody (me, the wife, the kids, and my sister) to agree on a location. I'm all for a direct flight, limited transportation, and no hassles...at least for this trip (too many people).
If it was just me, or me and the Mrs...I know exactly where I'd go (http://www.roatanonline.com/moreroatan/roatan_beaches.htm).
Most of the Carribean resorts have everything onsite, even different types of bars/clubs. Plus, they pick your ass up at the airport (which is a good thing, once you see how they drive). Unless you wanna do the tourist thing you don't have to travel at all. LOL Oh, and unless your wife is a shopper. Then I'd recommend her taking one of the buses for shopping excursions. Much cheaper than the onsite boutiques.

The first advice I would give you is wait until the sun goes down to take in the river walk. Savannah is seriously ridiculously hot.
My favorite place was the Moon Tavern (or something similar). Its a microbrewery with great food.

I'm going to Texas for a week at the end of July and from there I fly to Peru for 9 days. I can't wait. I'm going to be perma-drunk the entire time I am in Texas.
Ha! Flying all over the place because of some woman... :paranoid

Not at all sir. I have always wanted to visit South America. You believe me , dontcha?! :paranoid
Yeah, and I always wanted to see lovely Bribane.
I finally got my birth certficate in the mail today so I can go file for my passport. bastiches took 3 weeks to send that to me. And passports are backed up like crazy and they say it takes two months to 10 weeks to get it. I leave in exactly 100 days so I will be cutting it close.
Last I heard passports were taking up to 12 weeks to do.
Wonderful!

That's my understanding, too. Get that application in ASA, Phreak!
Can you still pay extra for expedited service? Or is that service only available to Saudi Arabians since 9/11?
I got mine expedited last year. It's worth it.
If you have a decent printer that prints nice photos, save yourself the time and take the passport photo yourself. (as long as it's against a light/white plain background, and 1"x1"
Not many people know you are allowed to do that, but i did this, and it saves a trip and a wait in line.
If you put it off long enough, you can go down to Philly and file in person, and get your passport the same day. Of course they charge you an arm and a leg for the privilege, but it is worth it, right?
Can someone help me figure this out - you can't pay for expedited service unless you are traveling within a certain window (I think it is 6 weeks), and you can't file in person unless there is even less time (2 weeks, I think). So, what incentive do people have for doing it in advance? Just $$$?
Its a scam, I tell ya.
I promised the family that I'd take them to either Southern California or on a cruise this summer but ended up using the money to remodel our kitchen & downstairs bathroom instead. I'm now waiting for my kids to stage a protest in front of Home Depot while wearing "Don't Trust Whitey" t-shirts.
I'm taking my wife to New Orleans in 3 weeks for a few days, which will be our first vacation without kids in 11 years. We're going down for the Jazzfest, then driving up to St. Francisville, LA to stay one night at the Myrtles Plantation (http://www.myrtlesplantation.com/). The next weekend I have to go to a work-related charity event in NYC, so I'm taking everyone for the weekend.
Otherwise, we'll probably hit the shore for a few day trips, then spend a couple days down in Williamsburg, VA/Busch Gardens in late summer, which will probably farg with my training camp plans.
i went to jazzfest last year. awesome time. the food at the actual festival might be even better than the music.

I am going on Friday since I have no school. The post office only does apps from 1000-1400. A guy I know i going to Romania and his flight is supposed to leave on Sunday. He has no passport yet and applied for it in January.
Dio, yes they have it. It costs an extra $60. So on top of the regular $97 they charge I guess I will shell out the $60 too just to be safe. The Inky had an article a few weeks ago on this clusterfarg and they said that if you have a non-refundable ticket you can go to the main office in Philly for help. But I don't want to be standing in line for 8 hours a few days before the trip pissed off.

off to vancouver b.c. in june for my companies annual meeting.
and you are all correct 10 weeks to get passport through normal channels. my buddy went skiing at Whistler in February and he got his on the spot but did have to pay quite a bit more. i was bumming out when they actually took my birth certificate and said "don't worry, it will be sent back with your passport" :paranoid

Yes I would, but only if you would drown in your own pool of excrement.
2 weeks in Ocean Isle Beach, NC in June. Nice house right on the beach -- walk off our porch, and on to the sand. It's a rental, but it should be very nice.

You will love The Grand Wailea. Probably one of the top hotels in Hawaii. Everyone I know that has stayed there has loved it. When are you going?
in about a month and a half
do they have a whole agenda planned out for you or is it quality free time? Lot of things to do on Maui. I can also tell you where not to go. shtein, just hanging at The Grand Wailea is worth the trip out. My god yesterday was a long day. Left Philadelphia at 8:15 AM, changed planes in Chicago and landed in HNL around 2:15 PM. 12 hours in airports and planes. Every flight we were on, coming and going was packed. Thank god I had my laptop and a good book.
Yeah, we're not looking forward to flying, especially with an 8-month-old... but first class will make it bearable.
We'll have a lot of free time, but we'll also have an infant in tow. What stuff is "can't miss" good?
do planes have regular power outlets for laptops now or do you need fancy smancy plugin? my laptop battery onlylast maybe 2-3 hrs

United in first class only and 9 times out of 10 the damn outlet doesn't work. American in first class, first 5 rows of economy and than I think it's every other row in economy on certain planes. Delta does on some planes. Continental in first and first 10 rows of economy.
Even if the plane has a power source you need different adapters. For United you need a little three prong adapter. American uses the standard cigarette style adapter.
I went and bought a notebook battery which claims to have 6 hours of juice but I usually get 4. It helps to kill time and is well worth buying one if you fly alot. Takes the headache away when you have a long flight and you are sitting in a seat with a power port that doesn't work.

Looks like the Iceland trip is back on the front burner. The guy who was questioning it has done a 180, and now he's practically planning the entire trip. It'll happen before October, because we want to go before the brass monkeys migrate south.
Got a bunch of passes to Hershey Park, was thinking about going up there for a few days. Any of you freaks ever been there? Last time I was there was when I was 8.
