So, it's finally time for me to get my ass out of this God forsaken state and move back up north. However, I need to find a job before I move and I'm not sure the best way to go about out of state job hunting. I can't exactly pop in for an interview any old time so there's got to be a good way to do it. Any advice? Has anyone done job hunting across state lines before? Lease is up at the end of April and I'd like to be gone to my new area then. In case you're wondering I'm looking at Ohio and NY to move to. Thanks in advance.

Do they use a rank system like the military? My Uncle suggested I look for jobs ranted, I believe, e-2 to e-4. Is that a comparable scale across all government sites?
E class jobs are executive level
you most likely are going to come in on the GS level...for example a GS-5, 7, 9, 11, 12 ect...
have you been in the military...because that gives you a huge advantage when going for govt jobs
IGY, there are some jobs on there that are similar to my field, i dont have a college degree but 6 years experience in the fraud field. Does the gubament require Degrees?
Get a GS job, get a clearance, then quit and go be a project manager on a government contract somewhere. With your degree in IT and Business, you be ballin'!

Most times they'll say they do in the requirements, but if you have real world expirience they will take that too on occasion.

Nope, no military. (Much to my uncle's chagrin... he's been pimpin' the military life to me since I was 16.)
Anyway, what's the lowest GS level I should be looking at? Actually, let me put it this way, what would my cap be? 5? 6?
the lower GS level youre willing to take the better chance at getting the job...i got laid off in the private sector...i told myself never again and went for the ultimate in job security....which is the govt....but in order to get in i had to take a 28k pay cut....it really sucked...
but when youre in the private sector youre at a distinct disadvantage in getting a govt job...what i did is went for a gs 5 that i was grossly over qualified for and worked my way up from there...i went from a 5 to a 12 in five years...getting in is the hard part then youre golden...
really its all about how low youre willing to go...because the higher paying the job the more competition you are going to face from within the govt...and tho it doesnt mean you cant get the job your priority is going to be lower than current govt employees...
if youre more qualified than a govt employee you will win out but if youre evenly matched the govt employee is almost always gonna get the job over you

LMAO...part of the requirements for a "Materials Handler":
Quote
MUST WEIGH LESS THAN 300 POUNDS
MUST BE ABLE TO REPEL UP TO 20 FEET
MUST BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND HEIGHTS OF 65 FEET
I like the sounds of that intelligence job. I wonder if I could get it easier if I first became a member of menses.

TE, the first thing you should do is decide on a new screen name. I don't see what good having a new job in Ohio or New York is going to do you if you're still sporting the Texas moniker. Priorities, son. Priorities.

Good point. May I suggest one of the following adapted hobo names?
Lolly Hoot Holler
Celestial Stubbs
Huckle Smothered
Cincinnati O'Gurk
Bix Shmix
Gravybelly Dunstan
Thermos H. Christ
Mastiff Mama
Sully Straightjacket
Gluttonous-Slim
Penthief Hickock
Poo-Knickers Elias
Fatneck Runt
Let me know if you need more. I have 700 of 'em.
Those sound like stage names used by actors in some sort of special ed pr0no film.
Celestial Stubbs? WTF?
Once I actually get somewhere else, then... well I'll probably leave the name the same since I hate farging with stupid shtein like that, but I'll consider it for a couple of seconds before I move on to something more important... like why they still make Spam.
I hear Dio's old job is available.
