Title: Eagles fan could use your prayers
Post by: DESkins on February 22, 2007, 03:05:03 PM
Hi, new to the board, must confess, I'm a taterskins fan, but my nephew is a HUGE Eagles fan.  He's also a soccer player, plays for FC Delco U-14 Roadkill.  He was diagnosed on 1/29/07 with ALM, a very aggressive form of leukemia, and is in serious need of any prayers/thoughts/good vibes, etc. that anyone would care to throw his way.  His name is Andrew McDonough, and he is in the PICU at AI duPont Hospital in Wilmington.

I won't post a link to a website concerning him without permission from the board administrators, but there is a site, and a google or other search, or a visit to the FC Delco website can provide the link.

Understand, I am not soliciting any kind of donations, only your prayers for this young man as he fights what is the toughest battle any of us will ever face.

Thanks.

Well this is a small world.

This kid's older sister goes to school with my girlfriend. They've been prayin for him and such at all the Ursuline basketball games. From what I've heard, this really caught the family off guard, came out of no where. And he seems like a good kid. I hope everythnig works out.

Not to be a downer or anything, but I hope he got to tap Kayla and Ali before he got sick.

I'll send him some prayers.  I'm a holy man and all, so it seems right.

I don't know whether to pile in for the fake sympathy orgy or not.  if I don't, I might get reported to the mods or something

Dude.  I'm a holy man.  It's the least I can do.

You're a miserable piece of shtein, so it's OK for you not to care.

fake sympathy orgy it is then.  i wouldn't want to be seen as not caring about someone I don't know.  here goes:

Wow, that's SOOO sad!!  I'm totally going to beseech Jeebus to save this ONE boy, because he's an Eagles fan, and he's so innocent!  I mean, except for original sin, and that time he jacked off while imagining farging his little sister.  But satan is always trying to trick us, and I'm sure he's repented of that weak moment(s).  Yeah.  And I'm gonna pray that everyone clicks on those links and send his family some money, because that will help them so much.  The children, the children!!  And I just want to thank the Racist fan for posting this, because otherwise I'd have to pray for God to protect our troops while they slay other children, and I'm getting bored of that.  Thanks for the new pity object, Racist fan!!

Practice makes perfect.  Should I try again, or wait for the next sappy grief orgy?

Kayla's a pretty good basketball player. Definately looks better in that picure then she does in basketball uniform.

About 80 times more important then how much you don't care about this thread/kid.

Thanks, Eagaholic.  Hey, GF, haven't seen you in a long time on the other board that I hang out on.  Keeping ya busy here?  And I kinda figured Diomedes was one of the resident hungry hungry hippos, but I figure there are more decent folks out here than there are folks of his ilk.

Ah, he's okay. You just have to realize that he has a few bugs up his ass.

Hope the kid's feeling better.

I'm better than okay.  Just don't like threads like this that go phishing for public exhibitions of faux sympathy.  Everyone says how sorry they are, and really they're not.  We can all pray to whatever god our superstition dictates, and it means nothing.

Plus, you're a Racists fan.  Like I'm gonna welcome you with open arms, posting sob story threads like this one.
Title: Re: Eagles fan could use your prayers
Post by: Susquehanna Birder on February 23, 2007, 08:50:58 AM
But the kid's a Eagles fan. Gotta throw some support his way, even if it's just moral support.

Gimme a break.  There are a thousand Eagles fans dying right now, young and old alike.  We gonna have a special thread for each one of them, with an RSS feed for which person we don't know that we're supposed to pray for today?

Not everybody is as empty inside as you, Dio.  Some people actually do care about something or someone other than themselves.  SHOCKING!

Sure you do, fat man.  You donate yet?  You been to visit and tell him what an inspiriation he is to you?  You taken your family to your magic alter and prayed for him?

Gimme a break.

its not even that

why the need to tell the world how much you dont care...it doesnt make you tougher or more "real"...if you really dont care that much then dont post in the thread...its pretty simple

The fact that I don't care is irrelevant.  The point is that no one cares.  This is where everyone gets to join in the grief orgy with fake, cliched comments and feel good about themselves for doing it.   I can't stand that...just can't stand it.

Some day, some day.  Until then, I'll point and laugh at your fake, weak ass reassurances to each other that you're good people because you post in soggy Hallmark snippets how sad you are about some kid you don't know.

Salesianum School soccer player Andrew McDonough, whose fight against leukemia and a bloodstream infection inspired an outpouring of support from the community, has died.

McDonough, 14, passed away this afternoon, family members told The News Journal.

RIP
