Title: Google Earth

Satellite images of the Earth's surface can be very interesting. From a detailed view at street level to a more panoramic view from space, you can see all sorts of things on Earth from your computer. The entire globe is laid bare including the ocean floor. It's really cool stuff.

Sometimes, really strange features become apparent. The continents and ocean floor appear scared by great forces. If you look closely, you can see evidence of enormous runoff from and deposits adjacent to every continent. As a creationist, I think much of this is evidence of a global flood. I know, it sounds fanciful. If you're interested, check out this 19 min. video which examines features on the continental United States. Did the Colorado river carve the Grand Canyon? Geological evidence suggests another source. Google Earth allows you to see first hand what may have really happened.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he did not exist.

Here's an interesting feature I noticed. This is the Western coast of Africa. Do you see the two lines of sediments extending out into the Atlantic? The southern most one is really prominent.

On closer inspection, something strange appears close to the shore.

Do you see the four depressions in the sea floor with a cone shaped mount to the west? What could have caused this feature? Let's look closer.

Look at the coast of Namibia. Do you see the distinct lines on the continent pointing directly toward the depressions? This is sixty miles of land which appears completely sheared. Look at it.

This appears to be shear stress caused by a torrent of massive amounts of water. The cone shaped mount and sediments that extend out into the ocean are consistent with a huge continent draining of global flood waters.

There are dozens of examples just like this one spanning the globe.

Event, you still never answered the question why a great flood in the past would support your jesus love over the numerous other religions that have great flood myths.

It doesn't have to support every detail. It is interesting that every major culture has such a myth. Many of them share significant details. Wouldn't you expect there to be a worldwide remembrance of such an event if just a handful of souls survived? As the oral history was handed down from one generation to the next, details would be forgotten and/or exaggerated. According to the biblical account, hundreds of years after the flood, an authoritative account is written down by special revelation. My position is that these are descriptions of the same event with the Bible being more descriptive. There are lesser flood myths which are not global in scope. They should not be confused with the global accounts.

I believe the aliens are hiding underground...waiting for global rape day in which the aliens will be able to use their invisibility or 'cloaking' skillz and follow every hot looking bitch from the grocery store into her New York apartment. As soon as she's done cooking, the alien will become visible (sp?) behind her, as she turns around and sees the alien, she will drop her spatula and the alien will look down and then look at her and slap her as he says, 'pick it up, bitch'. He will then cloak himself and steal the cornbread from the oven and go back to his starship under the ocean and wait another 300 million years for the next rape day. It's in the bible. They just call it something else.

no doubt...

as the "untold" christmas story goes...

Joseph and the innkeeper had Mary at opposite ends right up until our savior came into this world.

Poor Joseph.  I mean, it's one thing to find out your wife made you a cuckold with the garden boy.  It's another entirely to learn that God himself was boinking her.

No way to live that down.

Plus, then he had to deal with a holier-than-thou kid.  That Jesus probably dismissed his earthly father with a wave of the hand and said something about him not being his "real" dad.  Freakin' Jesus.

Joseph always felt inadequate to Jesus, especially during the Holidays.  Joseph would gather a pitcher of water for Thanksgiving dinner, and Jesus would turn it to wine, like, the good shtein.  then they'd all get drunk, and Joseph would rant about how his "son" freaked him out, and why didn't he cut his farging hair.

at christmas, Joseph tried his best to get Mary a good present, something he could afford by saving his wages from the entire year, but Jesus would always trump it at the last minute by turning some rock into something sweet, like a dishwasher or Xbox.

mary would always tell joseph that she didn't mind, but he could see it in her eyes when she'd play Halo with people from Rome, that she always liked Jesus' presents better.

UN-Google Earth map climate change

NAIROBI, Kenya (Reuters) -- After letting computer users soar over Mount Kilimanjaro's melting snows and peer down on illegal logging in Asia, the U.N. Environment Programme (UNEP) is exploring how the latest technology can help it reach more people, an official said on Wednesday.

It hopes to copy the success of a venture with Google Inc. that made an atlas of before-and-after satellite images of environmental change available to more than 100 million viewers through the interactive mapping program Google Earth.

Now UNEP is seeking similar partnerships with firms including Microsoft, Oracle Corp., Cisco Systems and ESRI, a California-based computer mapping company, UNEP program officer Michael Wilson told Reuters.

"A lot of effort is going into developing these sorts of partnerships and finding alignment of interests," he said on the sidelines of a U.N. environment conference in Kenya.

UNEP's "Atlas of Our Changing World" was first published in hardback in June 2005 and features high-resolution images of changes ranging from dramatic deforestation in South America to retreating glaciers in the North Pole, oil exploration in Canada and the huge growth of greenhouses in southern Spain.

In environmental terms, the book became something of a bestseller, moving more than 10,000 copies at $150 each.

"For an organization like UNEP, that was an unprecedented success," Wilson said. "So we all started looking at ways we could make this information available to more and more people."

Late last year, U.N. officials finished uploading the atlas to Google Earth, which covers a third of the world's population in images detailed enough to show cars.

As a result, users can now zoom in and fly over virtual environmental "hotspots" like the explosion of shrimp farms on Thailand's west coast, China's massive Three Gorges Dam or the vanishing snows of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.

"Google clearly feels it improves their product," Wilson said. "The animations we can use to show the changes taking place are a very effective vehicle for communication."
