According to the Daily News:
A league source told the Daily News that worries about having Chicago fans sit outside for a second consecutive night game - the Bears finished the regular season on Sunday night, Dec. 31 against the Packers - are the reason the Bears-Seahawks game is on Sunday afternoon while the Eagles-Saints (to be played indoors) is on Saturday night.
What, hypothermia makes great TV!
that's bullshtein...they never, EVER consider the fans in any decision they make. this game is the marquee NFC game this weekend, that's why it's Saturday night.

Also, I think if you look at past years, the number one seed always plays on Sunday.
I expect the Eagles/Saints game to get at least 50% more viewers than the Seahawks/Bears.
I thought the NFL got my memo that I didn't want to worry about the hangover I'll have being on Monday.
The Eagles are playing on Saturday because they won on Sunday.
Yea but Giants/Bears > Seahawks/Saints for TV purposes....so why would the Giants be planned to play sunday if they would've won.
I figured it was to try to prevent me from watching the game since I'll be at my company holiday party and more than likely hammered by seven.
Having a holiday party when there are no holidays to celebrate...
BRILLIANT!!!

Many companies are celebrating the life of Martin Luther King, Jr., this weekend.
As they should be.
Yes.

With a party?
I've never heard of any company parties for his holiday.
sat nite is not considered primetime in the tv world...sunday late afternoon/evening garners a much larger viewing audience as many more people are at home than on a saturday nite....in fact sunday nite is considered primetime....
however the afc has this weekends sunday late game otherwise eagles would def be in that slot as they were last week with ny vs philly constituting the biggest game of the weekend
so the answer to the question of why the eagles play sat nite is because fox doesnt have the late sunday time slot

They delay the party until after the new year so they can give out the bonuses.

doubtful. its done by market sizes. philly + minny > dirty dirty + st. louie
market size is far less important when its a national broadcast
new yorks 11 million people mean little when you are comparing it to 340 million people in the rest of the united states
the matchup that will get the most people to tune in country wide is what goes in the best spot and the best spot is when the most potential people are in a position to tune that game in...and more people are at home late sunday than at any other time during the weekend...which is why sunday late afternoon/evening is considered prime time and saturday evening is not

At 62 I'm proud he can put words on that confounded blinky contraption. That he made it to a chat room in between trips to empty the colostomy bag is impressive.
