It's hard to lack in Christmas spirit with a three-year-old experiencing it fully for the first time. The kid is so excited, it's kind of contagious.
nm
I work from home and did most of my shopping online. Only time I go out is to run at night and I see the Christmas lights. I'm not feeling the spirit one way or the other. It is nice to have to deal with people in the mall though.
Merry Christmas to everyone except sarge
My buddy saw a pretty major brawl at a local mall for a g'damn parking spot last night.
I love the holidays.
I feel the spirit of the holidays whenever I'm getting something for L'il Feva and think about how much he'll enjoy it or the experience.
Other than that... not so much.
Happy Holidays anyway, fellas.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year to all. :yay

No sign of snow (or even a drop under 45 degrees) and my grandfather dropping dead in a parking lot from a heart attack five minutes after Cole's INT/TD has ruined things a bit, but I'm done all the shopping/wrapping stuff, I'm off from work until January 2, and I have a Christmas party tomorrow night, so I'll be in the spirit of things or whatever.....
Sorry to hear about your Grandpop, Ed. :'(
thx. Italian Catholic family = huge support group, so everyone will be OK after yesterday :)

Dang, there seems to be a lot of this going on. I'm terribly sorry to hear about your loss.
Prayers and condolences to your family as well.
Damn Ed, sorry to hear man.
My grandpa died out of nowhere back in June too...I know how rough it is.
Sorry to hear about the Gpop Ed, As italian catholics do you do a wake? My irish-welsh family always throws a party after the services.
Sorry Ed... can't imagine how tough it is to lose somebody this time of year. :(

Yup. Had one on Wednesday night and somewhere between 400 and 500 people came to pay their respects (almost 3 and a half hours), then they had another quick one yesterday morning for people that couldn't make it at night. After that was the procession to the church where he was involved for almost 60 years, where they had mass for an hour, then another trip to Resurrection Cemetery where he was laid to rest, then yet another trip to the restaurant where the family gathered for lunch. They had the 7 grandsons as the pallbearers, so my brother and I had to help carry the casket. Rough times but everyone made it through...
Sorry to depress the hell out of this Christmas thread. :-\ Happy holidays everyone... :)
Thats amazing Ed, there's no better way to celebrate life than getting hella drunk with everyone they knew :yay
Merry Christmas to everyone.
Ed -- sorry about your loss. Nothing is worse than losing a loved one during the holidays -- my wife's mom is dying quickly, and will likely be gone by the end of January. So we get to spend New Year's up at her folks' house to say our goodbyes.
Other than that, I love Christmas because I get to watch the faces and smiles and hear the laughter of my kids. This will be my daughter's first real Christmas (they don't celebrate much in an orphanage), so I am really looking forward to that. 2-year olds have a natural way to make you feel good about pretty much everything. Her laughter is contagious.
Everyone be safe, and have a blast. And may Santa bring us all a victory in Dallas.
And T.O. a broken leg :yay
Ed,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family from across the Pacific. It is quite obvious that your grandfather was loved by many people. Hang in there buddy.
Damn Ed, sorry to hear about your loss.

My buddy saw a pretty major brawl at a local mall for a g'damn parking spot last night.
Last year when I went to the mall.
- Some "badass" teenage kid got pulled out of a movie theater by his mom
- Big fight
- Puerto Rican girls screaming
- You know when someone would hunch their opponent over and knee them repeatedly in the chest?
- To the face.
- Like 100 times.
- Face got farged up.
Where's that map again?
Condolences for your loss, Ed.
IGY, no Boxing Day is actually a British thing--but remember, Canada is actually a member of the Commonwealth (nearly all former British colonies).
Oh damn, Ed. I'm so sorry to hear that. My condolences and lots of love to you and your family.
I know the Italian thing all too well. Lost an aunt 6 years ago, 4 days before Easter. There was a black cloud over the holiday, but, in the end it was just another day for our family: We drank. We ate. We fought.
Love you. :-*
thanks all :)
Tonight was the annual family Christmas party at the grandparents' house and everyone was back to laughing and storytelling and joking and eating like before, so it appeared that everyone is at peace with things now. I mentioned to Sus earlier that people stopping over the house have noticed odd things in the last few days. The staircase always has the family stockings hung from oldest to youngest every year, and the other day, for no reason at all, my grandfather's stocking fell off and landed on the TV below, so they put it back up.....and it happened again the next day. :paranoid They also said the cable TV has been acting weird (and not the usual Comcast outages either)....
For those with Children, here's Santa:

Ed, so sorry about you loss, sounds like your family has really come around though....
To all, have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
GO EAGLES GO
Ed, I'm also sorry to hear about your loss. I'm glad to hear that you're family is able to cope so well.
I normally hate the holidays, but this is the first year that I've really cared about it. I am making it a priority to make it special for everyone else. I hope everyone has a safe & happy time.

Congrats on her first Christmas. I'm sure a move to Philly would make it even more special.
12:21 AM! Merry Christmas folks!
Yanni's Greatest Hits for everyone, look in your stocking!
I love Christmas. This year, my younger bro (he's 31) wanted among other things, a canoe. He didn't seriously think he'd get one, unless we happened to find a cheap used one. New ones aren't cheap, but my mother and I decided to splurge and throw in for one. For the past hour I've been waiting for him to finally fall asleep upstairs so I can bring the goddamned thing in.
That's right...he's gonna wake up to find a brand new 12 foot aluminum canoe under the Christmas tree. Ha!!
Nice story, Dio. A good Christmas story......
My aunt and I nearly broke up laughing trying not to make a noise, or knock shtein over, moving this giant (though light) thing around. And of course, as soon as we walked away from it, the cat got in there and started sharpening his claws on the wicker-webbed seats, so we had to deal with that. Oh..and my aunt is a nun. SRYSLY
Now it's safely beside the tree. I got photos. What fun.
Nicely done, Dio.
I just got done putting together the kid's bike for Christmas. Not too bad- kid's first bike.
Merry Christmas to all!
Merry Christmas everyone. I hope everyone is enjoying family gatherings and has the spirit of giving, and good food. I put emphasis on the good food part.
I deep fryed a turkey last night for my family. Although I've done this quite a few times before, everytime I do it, it seems to be the best trukey I've ever eaten. Last night was no exception. That bad boy was as juicy as a nighteen year old co-ed, and melted in your mouth.
GAWWWWDD!!! It was sooooo goooood!
I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday as much as I am.

Thats as cool as anything I've ever heard. Who would ever think they would see a 12' canoe under the Christmas tree??? Not me. He's probably gonna' be suprised as 12 year old.

Baaah Humbug
Got some cool ass shtein, and made some people awful happy with cool ass shtein for them. Brother was stoked by the canoe...look on his face was dumbfounded sort of "whaaa?? is a canoe doing in...OH!! A CANOE!!"
Don't know what I got that I like best..either Strat-o-matic Football for PC (2005 cards), or the 1/4" Snap On breaker bar. Or the shirt with the skull on the front and "see you in hell" on the back. ^-^

Thanks. It was certainly a very different and very special Christmas morning for us.
Oh, and our little girl decided last night was the first time she SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT - straight from 9pm to 6am. We told her she didn't have to get us anything, but she did anyway!
Sleeping the night through
was present number one for you
A steaming pile of rank baby poo
was her special present number two!
Yeah, but she already hooks us up with a couple of those a day.

How were the other four days? Or did your parents get really Jewish on you and give you one glove each on seperate days to save cash? :P
I got many a clothing. Not to mention some new socks and boxers...Dear old mom even threw in a 36 pack of condoms in my stocking because she knows I violate my girlfriend. That'll save me like 30+ bucks. :yay
I got some spiffy clothing from the girlfriend too. If I can I'll post a picture when I get my hair cut so the hat looks right. Because you all care and want to see.
I hope everyone had a good Christmas. I know I enjoyed seeing all the family and watching everyone be extremely happy as the Eagles whipped the Cowboys. Driving was a bitch though...202/100/PA Turnpike/Whatever the other road to Reading is are all very not safe in the rain. Hopefully everyone made it to thier destinations okay.

didn't do Christmas gifts as we have St. Nicholas' Eve (December 5) for it.

It's 8 days of Hannukah, and seeing as I don't live it at home, am almost 20 and my dad stopped caring about gifts 4 years ago...this is all came during a birthday lunch. I then threw a tempertantrum in the restuarant because I didn't get the Wii I requested.
