Title: CFFFL Superbowl
Post by: MURP on December 19, 2006, 09:53:42 AM
Week 16 is a head to head matchup between the NFC champ and the AFC Champ.   Barring any yahoo scoring mistakes the game is:

AFC Champ = MDS
NFC Champ = Zanshin

Your starting lineups must be posted on this thread by Thursday before the Minnesota at Green Bay game starts.

WR- Steve Smith
WR- Braylon Edwards
RB- Brian Westbrook
RB- Dominic Rhodes
TE- Alge Crumpler
K- Lawrence Tynes
D- Donnie Edwards

Not my fault they suck.  Must have been a bunch of retards in your league for you to have that roster.  You should win.  But that's why they play the game....

I'll post my roster when I have a chance.

I'm pretty sure the math is right on Zanishes end, but entering the monday games, he's up 56-43. It's Westbrook vs. Jason Taylor tommorrow. I'm still in it, despite getting zero production from anybody outside of Rivers and Donnie Edwards.

We could be looking at a champion with a score in the 50's or 60's? Lame.

Zanshin has 58 with Jason Taylor to go.

So unlesss Jason Taylor somehow manages to lose points (which I don't think is even possible), it looks like Z wins the league.  Congrats.  :yay

Whoo hoo...I was in three Super Bowls this weekend, and I manage to win the one with no payout.  Umm...yeah, sweet.

Actually, I pulled out the big money league.  Trotter's 4 points put me over the edge.  Heh heh.  The other guy lost by less than 1 point. How pissed is he today?

What was the pot?
Title: Re: CFFFL Superbowl
Post by: MDS on December 27, 2006, 03:01:02 AM
Whatever. Got 0 points from Steve Smith, little production from Wayne...what can you do. I won my money league, though. And really, that's all that matters.

$550.  I beat the guy by a few fractions of a point, about 150-149.  How much does that suck for him.  The best part is, right before gametime, he swapped out Ronnie Brown in favor of Marion Barber.  Thanks, Eagles, for stuffing Barber for less than one point.  If he left Brown in, he would have beaten me easily.

I never really mind losing if I have my best guys going and they don't produce...but when I have a big point guy riding the bench, that bothers me.  Luckily, it rarely happens ;).

Nice job Z.

I remember winning $500 in a money league once...when I didn't even know I had made the playoffs. I had a shtein ass record.  I got a bitter call from the organizer letting me know that I won with my abandoned team. Needless to say I wasn't invited the next year.  ;D

Congrats? I think I finished the season with more overall points than you, I probably had the better team. Just didn't happen last week for me to win a fantasy league with a bunch of people I talk nonsense with on the interwebs. Now if we ever put some money down on this thing, then things could get interesting.

Well if Steve Smith got you 0 points, you'd be bitter too.

MDS team chokes hard and then comes up with the sore loser response.  ha.

congrats on the super bowl win Zanshin.

I know not everyone enjoyed the overall points league as opposed to a head to head matchup.  I do appreciate everyones participation this year in the CFFFL.  Maybe next year we can get head to head matchups with an even number of people and get some sort of playoffs involved.  until next year.

Each format has it's advantages/disadvantages.  Points league assures that the highest scoring team(s) have the best chance to win.  H2H format typically comes down to how the league schedule is set up.  I don't think I've ever played in a H2H league where the highest scoring team for the year ever made it to the championship game, let alone won it.  In fact, in my money league this year, the highest scoring team somehow managed to finish in 7th place out of 10 teams.  It seemed like almost every week his opponent's teams were scoring 20 or 30 points above their average.  I'm glad though because he's a fleshpop.  Plus I won.  And that means I have some of his money in my pocket right now.

I had Steve Smith and Willie Parker in my money league and still won, by the way....even with their combined 0 points.  Deal.

I liked the points variation much better than the head-to-head thing.  It allows good teams a bad week here and there without getting penalized too much for them.  One thing I would like to suggest is allowing a couple more roster spots for flexibility's sake.

Still, I enjoyed it and thanks for the invitation, fellas.

I liked everything about the format this year.

I have a feeling that was intentionally done to force more roster moves -- necessary in such a large and deep league. Otherwise the draft is everything and the season itself hardly matters.

I think the intention was to prevent stashing players on rosters and that's fine.  I simply would have preferred an extra bit of roster flexibility, but it's all good.

Yeah, because our league was so large, we had people starting RBs that weren't even getting that many carries, as well as some bigtime scrubs in the WR and QB categories. Would have been even nastier if teams would have had more ability to hoard. We could have easily had more than 32 QBs on teams. I'm all for forcing everyone to make tough decisions and giving the shteintier (or unluckier injury-wise) drafting teams an outside chance of rebuilding during the season.

I must be in the minority.  I would like to see less roster spots, allowing for maybe 2 bench spots, one less WR, and going back to team defense instead of naming 3 starters.

The less WR and less bench spots would force people to think about moves rather than just doingthem, and would also allow for quality players out on the wire.

But that's just me.

I'm in for the next season....I'll try waking up at 6am...but if it can pacific time friendly...then all the better.  :evil

Chuggie, the draft shouldn't be too hard for you next year.  We did a live draft this year on Yahoo and it was over in about an hour or so.  I think we did it on a weekend too so it shouldn't interfere with work.  And even if it does you can always pre-rank your players and let the computer auto draft for you.
