Now Dallas will have a stadium that seats 80,000 with the ability to go to 100,000. The taterskins already top 80,000.
The Eagles have less fans, therefore less noise. But much cooler looking empty corners.
How is it this Front Office can't get anything right when it comes to normal thinking. Forget he fact that the new Cowboys stadium will be a retractable dome too.
Missed the boat again big time.

Just thought it was interseting that the Eagles shorted their fan base by about 20,000 seats, when the taterskins and Cowgirls didn't. A significant mistake.
Forget the fact that Gillette, has a much better design than the Lick, and it was built first.
I don't want 80,000 or 100,000 people going to Eagles games. Sure, it would definately speed the process up in regards to me getting some season tickets but I just don't want to deal with all that friggin traffic. It's a pain in the ass as it is let alone adding another 40,000 to it.
And domes, be they retractable or not are for farging Hoydas and I want no part of it at this or any future stadium the Eagles play in. If the Phillies want a dome or retractable roof, fine. Don't care. Baseball players are sissy bitches anyway. I enjoy going to games when it's 10 degrees outside and snowing. I was loving it during the rain at the taterskins game a few weeks back.
Quit bitching about the way the team has a stadium built or the way they sell their tickets and bitch about something useful like the the team itself. All the times you've come around here you never talk about the team, the coaches, the players or the games. What's your farging deal anyway? Don't answer that because I really don't care. Just kill yourself and make the pain go away.
Actually most of the places in the MLB that have domes are either in the middle of the desert or in a tropical enviroment.
The field can reach over 100 degrees on the field when it is not even 90 degrees outside, can you imagine how hot it would be in 100 degree weather?
There's my required rant for the day, please carry on.

i have heard from my buddy that Gillette is pretty cool. I have never been to the linc - yet. Hopefully soon.
what the hell do i know about stadiums when we have the beautiful Aloha Stadium which is now 35 years old. cross between the Vet and Candlestick Park. lame.
The linc was built to give optimal views to anyone in the stadium. The SRO's were a last minute sales tactic. Oh yeah

What is this guy's farging deal?
All entertainment should obviously be non-profit in nature. Obviously.
He's a warrior and a crusader for Eagles fans everywhere being ripped off by the Lurie/Razorgator faction.
Although, I'm sure all Eagles fans would love for him to simply shut the farg up... or die... which ever comes first.

The Vet was a filthy, smelly, shteinhole that was falling apart, ear-splittingly loud, and potentially dangerous. That's why it was awesome. The Linc is obviously a much nicer place in just about every respect, but has yet to become one with the attitude of the team and fans.
Anyone who would even entertain the possibility of putting a football dome in Philadelphia should be shot. In fact, the thought of any such monstrosity in a northeastern city disgusts me. The game is football, not hopscotch or paddy cake.

Its simple, the Eagles stadium holds less people so it isn't anywhere near as loud as the larger stadiums in the NFL.
not really
lots of factors go into it...the type of crowd...the skins for example have a much older fanbase than do the eagles...old heads dont cheer nearly as loud and sometimes not as much...id take the eagle 70k over the skins 90k anyday
the dallas crowd sucks for a different reason....they just dont really care about the cowboys that much...its not a live and die thing like it is in philly...again linc 70k>>dallas 90K
ive never been to dallas so i cant comment but the eagles crowd at the linc is much louder and more into the game than the wine and cheesers in dc
and as i mentioned before the more tickets available in these spots the more eagles fans that will take over...especially during the times when these teams are good and tickets are not as easy to get....trust me if the skins had twenty thousand less tickets avaible for every game there would be far less eagle fans there
Guh...I hate when I have to agree with IGY.
Beaver Stadium (Penn State) has over 107,000 seats, but it never gets anywhere as loud as the Vet used to. It got close once in my memory (when LaVar blocked a Pitt field goal), but the old farts on the west side under the press box really put a damper on things. There are sections that are louder than a rock concert at times (the student section is nuts), but only rarely does the whole place really get rocking.
the stadium isn't awful, but it's not great either.
it's been open for 4 years now, and it still has no personality to me. it's so sterile. other than the green seats, everything in there is precast and gray.
one of the best things about the Vet was the signs they would hang on the endzone walls, something you can't do anymore. overall, i wouldn't complain if i was forced to go back to the Vet in my old seats.

Agreed. The "white out" game last year against Ohio State was certainly an exception to that, however.
one of the best things about the Vet was the signs they would hang on the endzone walls
did you get that jd power survey email the other day
i wrote three very long compliants in it to lurie
1. bring back the stadium signs....gave the vet mad character...espcially sign man...probably my first and most vivid memory as a child going to philly sporting events was the 'eagle power' sign that was always up....i used to love that thing...so plain so simple so good....
2. tell the security guards to chill out...im not advocating they overlook physical violence or anything but to yell at people for standing up or even giving the finger or cursing...i mean jesus
3. bring back one of the two old school jerseys permanantly...its not a coincidence that the best jerseys in the nfl are either the classic ones that have never changed (skins, raiders, steelers) or teams that have gone throwback (jets, giants)...the eagles look like a friggin expansion team in what they are wearing
the skins change their jerseys and logos every year
not really
occasionally they will rock a throwback ala the chargers baby blue and for the 50th aniversary year they went vintage for the whole year
that spear throwback they don every once in a while is awesome..they should stick with that and get rid of the racist symbol they rock now
I used to look forward to the sign man banner. One of the things that Lurie sanitized away from the real fans. :(
I don't think the number of seats is the issue as much as the shape of the stadium. Places like the Vet and Three Rivers were turned into semi-open fields like the Linc and Heinz. The sound just goes up and out, rather than being directed down to the field.
We may not have a prayer - but we have a Bible

totally agree....but when they were building the linc they tried to say it would be louder than the vet because of the over hangs along the sideline portions of the stadium...which never made sense to me because the vet had an overhang over the whole stadium AND was fully enclosed
theres no contest in the noise levels between the linc and vet
Still, you have to admit that the seating at the Linc is much better in terms of sight lines and closeness to the field than the Vet.
mine arent but im three rows from the top and when you get that high it all looks far away
but ive heard the sightlines are much better in other parts of the stadium
Yeah, we were closer to the field at the Vet, but because of the layout, we couldn't see half of the endzone on our side. It's a tradeoff...
I miss the Vet the way a child misses the father who used to beat the shtein out of him.
As someone once said... it was a shteinhole but it was our shteinhole.

Unless it was a different sign, the one I remember said "We may have a Bible but we don't have a prayer."
I also remember during Reggie's last year with Philly Sign Man had one up that said "Praise the Lord and Braman's wallet."

I really don't care if someone goes to the games or not. Who would give a shtein about that? But the dickbag who started this thread is bitching and moaning about how bad the stadium is. If they don't like it, they are free to relinquish their tickets and let someone else pay for the enjoyment of going to a game; don't like it, don't go.

didnt need all that dook
as a season ticket holder i was simply looking for what im allowed to complain about and what im not
That kinda oversimplifies it, Eaglez.
The Giants are building a new stadium within the next couple of years and I am adamant about not wanting it (apparently, they don't care what I think). I'm perfectly content with the current one. The seats hurt my ass, there's beer every 3 feet, there isn't a bad seat in the house (unless you're behind a goalpost), there's beer every 3 feet, it looks like a place where football is played, there's beer every 3 feet and it's ours. If we could just get rid of those f'n Jets it would be heaven.
I don't need a friggin' Starbucks, metal sculptures or anything else that will make it look like a goddamn mall or something. Or named after a f'n corporation. Or friggin' club seats that suck up seating areas where real football fans would be sitting, so, some douche with tons of money can have a nice warm place to watch the game. (Um, try your living room, homo.) This is football. It's supposed to be ugly.
But.... there's no way in hell I won't be there for every home game. :=)
Holy crap... rant over.
Yeah. I don't disagree with that. Sports fans are inelastic; they support their team no matter what and as a result some front offices aren't very responsive to the fan bases' desires. All I'm saying is that if you really want to effect change don't purchase that team's product. If you hit a team in the wallet then you get their attention moreso if you keep purchasing tickets, buy food at the concession stands, pay for parking, buy merchandise, and then still bitch on top of that.
Also, with the whole "this stadium should have more seats..." argument. There actually is some economics behind figuring out how many seats a stadium should have. They don't add more seats because the marginal revenue doesn't outpace or break even with the marginal cost. It would, essentially, be more costly and generate less revenue to have more seats than it would to have less seats at a signifcantly higher cost.
