QuoteThe Eagles announced Tuesday that they have released linebacker Jason Short. No replacement for his roster spot has been announced at this time.
Short played primarily on special teams and was among the team leaders in production points and special teams tackles with 14. He had played in 12 of the team's 13 games this season, he was sidelined for the Indianapolis game with an ankle sprain.
Named by Sports Illustrated as one of the Top 10 Most Feared Players in the NFL, Short was the team's leader in special teams production points last season before an ankle injury and a leg fracture ended his season. Known as "Full Throttle" for his tenacity, Short originally signed with the Eagles as a rookie free agent in 2003. Short played in AFL2 and NFL Europe before he reached the NFL.
Short spent the 2003 season on the practice squad and won a roster spot in 2004. In his two-plus seasons, he played in 28 games and had 37 career special teams tackles.
Damn...that's curious.
Too many personal foul calls.
McCoy = Next Short
Welcome to what everyone else realized 2 years ago, Andy.
what are the odds he even made it out of the novacare complex before he took a blast of crystal meth

5 to 3
A couple weeks ago I was wondering how bad that DE from the Giants was if he got released to make room for a 2nd punter. I thought it was ranther insulting actually.
Well, how bad does Short have to be if he got released to make room for no one?
Levon Kirkland is at the Complex now taking his physical. Lets cross our fingers that the big man can still play.

Nope, just saw it on ESPN.
ha, it took me awhile to convince myself it was
i find it hard to beleive that the only player available is someone who has not played in 4 years.
i guess he's well rested.
there's no way...i refuse to believe it
:-\
Not surprised at. I loved Short for his nastiness, but this year he had waay too many penalties. We need all the help we can find, Short wasn't contributing with the penalties.
Kirkland. Stop, just stop. :paranoid

I can't believe this.

thigh injury
Attacked by an Eagles fan with a spiked club?
He pulled something having hotsecks with Blaine Bishop.
He's still chasing Jureviscous
Bishop got the last laugh when...
(Holy Christ, I was actually going to make a joke about Joe J losing his son. I am a sick farg.)
There's nothing wrong with making fun of a guy for having his infant child die. Nothing at all. I'm serious. It was funny.

Can putting Kirkland in at LB really be any worse then having Dhani Jones?
Seriously.
And the fact that the answer is no, it can't be any worse, is really sad.
He'll be better against the pass than Trotter.
The guy has to be 330 pounds by now. Put him at DT.
one less white guy on the defense [/igy]

This it easily the most pathetic post I've ever seen from you. And if I were to re-post all of your pathetic posts you would surely never show your face here again.
This team signs a 300 lb. linebacker who has been retired for 4 years. And you manage to type a post saying that he must be better than the linebacker they currently have STARTING?! You have entered into a whole new realm of idiocy that I cannot begin to fathom, but will continue to mock.
The hand thing Kirkland did once, the wood choppa-ing, and the air guitar. God, I can't wait to see these linebackers make total asses of themselves for 3 hours.
Ok, you guys got me on the Kirkland thing. I really thought there for a minute that he was being brought in and looked at. I'm a disgrace.
Anyways - it's about time they released Short. I've been saying they should've cut him when they cut to the final 53 in camp. Dude has no position to play and now he is guaranteed to get a flag each game.
:-D @ this thread. I can understand you guys taking Die Hard seriously. But me? Idiots.
Keyonta Marshall
Bruce Perry
Those would be my guesses as to who fills the spot.
An outside shot at it being Duce.

Uh...did you just defend Dhani Jones?
Strangle yourself please.
And before you get all bitchy and whiney like you usually do when your thong gets too far up your ass, let me just say...Yes, I'd prefer ANYONE over Dhani farging Jones right now. Even a 450 pound Kirkland. At least he could stand there and get in the way without being totally blown out of the play. :D

Aha, I never believed it. I just said it's sad that Kirkland would be something I'd rather see then Dhani.
I'd also rather see Dedrick Roper then Dhani.
Can I just have any LB not named Dhani Jones at SAM. Please.

says he was second on the team in points and guesses he had to be first
but says he still is grateful to reid for giving him a chance
chicago tampa dallas want to bring him in for workouts
really wants a chance to play for dallas against the eagles next week cause hes still angry about being released...and if he did look out eagles

he wants to play football. and he'd like to prove a point to the Eagles. playing for Dallas in a week would be a great opportunity to do that.
has nothing to do with being ungrateful to Eagles fans..

you know meth heads are all over the map
thats short
one second hes saying how hot he was when andy told him and that he didnt know what he was gonna do intimating that he might attack andy...then 20 seconds later hes saying how much he loves the coaches

Agreed. I think players take the rivalries seriously, but nearly as seriously as players did before free agency. And no player, before or after the advent of FA ever took a rivalry as seriously as the fans ever do.
You know that, and I know that...but I just find it funny for a player (or an ex player) to talk from both sides like that.
I'm not surprised by anything that comes from a player's mouth. Especially when it doesn't make sense.
meth will make anyone non sensical
He's one of those players that needs to be utterly pissed off to play well. I'm sure whoever picks him up will get some good games from him on special teams. Then, once he doesn't have anything material to get upset about, he'll reside back to his boneheaded self.
If Dallas does sign him then the Eagles will get some good field position because of his penalties.
Or he might put his helmet through Reno's body. So, win-win.
