Here's what happened. Brady's team of financial advisors, lawyers and intellectual property rights advisors saw thier client being taken advantage of, and a oppertunity to make a little money (and commission/billables for them). Tom Brady had a two sentence description and a yay/nay on this at the same time he did 127 other things with the team.

Don't hate the player.

Hate.
The.

His case is pretty flimsy considering his celebrity status and reproduction of celebrity imagery doesn't have the same legal protection as someone who isn't in the public limelight on a consistent basis.

But, whatever. His case probably won't even get to trial. His complaint will either be dismissed or be subject to summary judgment. It just reflects poorly on him because he's seen as being too litigious, and the reproduction seems innocuous enough.

I don't have a problem with him doing this.  They're using his image for profit without his consent.  And even though it's free to play, they've still got the extra pay features that you can buy.  This isn't something that's licensed or authorized by the NFL so using any player's image to promote a product should be authorized by the player.

Maybe Tom Brady thinks fantasy football is evil and doesn't want to be associated with it.  Or maybe he just doesn't want people using his image for free.  Who knows?  Either way, it's his right to not want it up there.

The only problem I would have with him suing Yahoo over this is if he didn't privately ask them to take it down first.  That's just good manners.

Having said all that, I should sue his ass for having a fairly mediocre fantasy season.

No wonder he's in a bad mood:

QuoteMoynahan and Brady Split

I, Robot actress Bridget Moynahan and American football player Tom Brady have split after dating for three years. The 35-year-old beauty, best known for playing Mr. Big's wife Natasha in seasons two and three of Sex And The City, released a statement through her publicist on Thursday. The statement reads, "They amicably ended their three-year relationship several weeks ago. We ask for your respect and consideration of their privacy. No further comments will be made." Brady, 29, is the quarterback for the New England Patriots and was voted one of People magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People four years ago. Moynahan was most recently seen in ABC drama Six Degrees and will co-star in upcoming thriller Prey.
