i will be rooting for a rout on national tv...something/anything that will give me little hope that andys job could possilby be in jeopardy
Jeff Lurie/Andy Reid:Ed Snyder/Bob Clarke
the only way Andy leaves is if he becomes burned out and he retires
well if he gets torched on national tv maybe that will go towards making him realize that he doesnt need all this and will quit outright or move upstairs
Moving upstairs would be fine with me though it will absolutely never happen. Anything to get him off the sidelines on game day.

The real kicker about this game is we have to wait all day for it. Normally when we get our ass kicked the taste of defeat has faded enough to get to sleep soundly.
But this game we'll get to go straight to bed thinking about the smack the Colts just laid. It's going to be a really fun weekend.
Over under:
Colts sit their starters mid-way through the 3rd quarter.
I'll go with under...probably at the half.
The Eagles are going to destroy the Colts. You heard it here first.
41-13 is my pick.

i actually think its gonna be relatively close
one of those games where they keep it semi close but where you never at any time believe they can win....like the giant game in ny last year

I'm afraid that the Eagles are going to
beleed on Sunday.
Beleed all over the place, hemorrhaging points to the Colts.
last year with a much worse back up qb and a far less healthy team they won twice without mcnabb and lost games by 3 at ny 6 at arz and 11 at wash in a game that was much closer than that....of course they also lost 42-0 to seattle
i dont know i think the eagles are gonna cover and if they dont it will be because of some late scores that push it far out of reach but for the majority of the game i think they will be relatively close...but again they will never threaten and wont ever have a chance to win
Honestly... at the beginning of the season, I saw the Eagles getting blown out in this game. Healthy and all. But that has more to do with how we generally play the Colts anyway... which is zesty... and the fact that the game is in Indy. I gained a little confidence about it once I got to see just how terrible the Colts' D is.
Now... with Garcia in there instead of McNabb... I can't see this being too much of a game.
It should be enough of a blowout that I'll be able to go to bed at a decent time.

No, I think for maximum torture the Eagles will keep it within one score most of the game, somehow or another.
I don't even know how it's possible, but I just have a feeling.
Colts pull away in the 4th quarter...

Yeah, he's def the one that got away. Thanks Andy.
Yeah, and it was over what? a $15,000 signing bonus that Brock wanted bumped up to $20,000? It was something ridiculous like that.
Shawn Barber - Doubtful (sprained MCL)

It was that they literally couldn't give him what he wanted with what was left in their rookie allotment.
It was Banner's fault.

QuoteLinebacker Barber to miss Sunday's Eagles game
By GEOFF MOSHER, The News Journal

PHILADELPHIA — Eagles linebacker Shawn Barber will miss Sunday night's game against Indianapolis as he recovers from a medial collateral ligament sprain he suffered against Tennessee, head coach Andy Reid said today.
The Colts are one of the best passing teams in the history of the sport, and Barber in integral part of the team's pass defense in nickel and dime packages.
Reid said linebackers Matt Mccoy and safety Michael Lewis will take on some of Barber's responsibilities.
Reid also said wide receiver Donte Stallworth, who left practice Thursday with a hamstring tweak, should play against the Colts. Stallworth practiced today
Tank Daniels saves all.
Fantasy football owners, start whoever you've got on the Colts offense this week. Michael farging Lewis...

QuoteDallas Clark insisted he hasn't picked up the controls for Madden NFL 07, and it's doubtful he'll do so anytime soon.
One of the recent commercials for the popular video game features the Indianapolis Colts veteran tight end getting roughed up, complete with painful grunts, by a couple of Philadelphia Eagles. It's as flattering as Wile E. Coyote being flattened by a semi on a desert road.
"Everyone has told me about it,'' said Clark, who'll hope to avoid a similar fate tonight when the Colts entertain the Eagles in the RCA Dome. "I haven't seen the commercial, but I'm upset about it. It makes me look like a punk.''
On the commercial, Clark runs a crossing route and is wrapped up by Eagles safety Brian Dawkins. As he spins around, he's whacked by defensive end Darren Howard. For emphasis, the play is shown a couple of times.
"Everyone is talking about my face and my grunting and the noises I make,'' Clark said. "It sounds like I'm dying."
"I want to know why the people picked me. If they come and ask me, 'Hey, we're going to make you look bad, is that OK?' but they didn't ask me.''
What a goddamned fool.
Is he seriously whining about a farging Madden commercial? I hope Dawkins and Howard crush that guy on an identical play. What a fool.
Maybe he's worried about having that happen for real tonight. >:D
Yes, as the Eagles lose eleventy billion to nothing. Stuff it.
I'm sure he'll take it out on the Eagles tonight with a couple TD's.

"MESSAGE SENT: DT BUNKLEY INACTIVE"
when has bunkley been active
Here is the list of inactive players for Sunday night's game:
# Cornerback Will James, who has a knee injury. The Eagles will go with Rod Hood at nickel and Joselio Hanson as the dime cornerbacks.
# Running back Ryan Moats, who continues to be absent from the offensive picture.
# Linebacker Jason Short, who has an ankle injury. Rookie Torrance Daniels was active and will play on special teams.
# Linebacker Shawn Barber, who has a knee injury and did not practice all week.
# Offensive guard Max Jean-Gilles, who has not dressed this year.
# Offensive tackle Pat McCoy, who is a deep reserve.
# Offensive tackle Winston Justice, who has yet to play this season.
# Bunkley, who had been active the previous 10 games during the season.
The Eagles had five receivers active, including rookie Jason Avant.
the 06 draft is on its way to surpassing the 04 draft as the worst ever
Why is Moats continually inactive? Does he seriously suck that bad?
Having Moats inactive, against the last ranked run defense, is stupid. Why do they need Greg Lewis or Jason Avant? No need for 5 WRs unless they throw it 50 times. And they are on turf too...Moats should be in there. Triple headed attack.

its only stupid tho if moats was any good...he will not be in the nfl next year...hes clearly that bad
Do you guys remember the aggravation I took when I said Bunkley was going to be all but useless this year after holding out?

Could not agree more - why, why, why.
Garcia's ding and dung passing we don't need that many wide outs...
But my friends with the Giants losing and Carolina losing (to the Skins) they have to look at the opportunity before them and take advantage of it.
yeah the moats pick was absolutely baffling
it had to have been a protection pick in case westbrook didnt resign...forget the fact that he blows there was absolutely no need for a player like him
thank god he is as bad as he appears tho because were he not maybe the eagles dont resign westbrook...i think once they themselves realized how awful moats was they were like ok up the ante to westbrook
I liked the Moats pick because he ran so well in college.
But using hindsight - we coulda had Marion Barber.
Wheres the game thread? Or is this it? Oh the humanity.
igy usually starts the game thread.
i wont even use draft hindsight because its not fair
but regardless of who they could have picked the one thing they didnt need was a scat back

how about a blitz...sitting back is doing nothing as peyton can easily pick them apart and at the same time maybe you can show you havent completely given up

Hank Baskett batting 1000, with 1 INT and 1 false start.

The Colts defense is notoriously fast and small.
westbrook looks fine to me
Westy is the only good player on the team. And he's from Villanova. :-D
Westbrook is one of the handful of players worth keeping on this team. They need to purge the rest.
"Westbrook can run the ball further and deeper than Jeff Garcia can throw it".
Try to figure it out---though I'm inclined to agree with the statement even though I can't quite figure out what it means. :yay
hes def got his shift on...but his stright ahead speed seems off...like theres been holes he could have burst thru that he hasnt...maybe im just off
westbrook=bugs bunny
Sad as it is to say, when they aren't throwing WR passes, the offense isn't the problem. The team is going to be terrible the rest of the year because of the defenses zestiness.
Finally running hardcore against the worst run defense in the league. Yes, they are even worse than the Eagles run D.

Best I can reason, a good run by Westbrook will take the ball farther down the field than a Garcia pass will.
Westy looks fine to me.
If it ends up beint 21-7 at half, I gotta say that would be a lot better then I expected.

Which is why Moats should be activated. I like Westbrook and think he can carry the load...but it looks like he might be touching the ball 40+ times today. I'd rather it be more like 25-30 times for Westbrook, 10-15 for Buckhalter, and 5-10 for Moats.
Somehow, this game is gonna to the half at 28-0.

You know, if Akers makes that kick and Andy doesn't call that stupid play that went for an INT we're in this game. Garcia is playing really well and so is our O-line. Too bad our defense couldn't stop an old lady with a walker with midgets blocking for her.

Akers with the tackle. Thats always nice.
I'm actually liking what I'm seeing from the offense (a.k.a. Westbrook). Two sustained drives in the first half.

He always holds that. He tracks the plays still even though Marty is calling them. Spads mentioned that Marty is doing the calling. Plus you can see Marty talking to Jeff before he goes on the field and gives him the play. Also you can tell that Andy isn't doing it because when he is he is always looking at the chart with his head down as soon as a play is over. Tonight he isn't doing that.

ironic that the running game is finally being used in a game against a team where its worthless...why you think the colts run d sucks and they are 9-1...because when you can score like them it doesnt matter if the other team is running the ball...let them waste time with 10+ play drives...you cant come from behind doing that

no way in hell they win at DC
the only chance for a win this year is a game at the end of the season that doesnt matter to either team
all reggie brown does is score touchdowns
They should beat the Gints with the way they are imploding now, but they won't.
Westbrook and another RB, whether it be Buckhalter or someone bigger, needs to get the ball 35 times a game next year, just between those two. Then another 5-10 runs should be given to another RB.
Reid will still be able to pass more then run, becausue when you run the ball, you sustain a drive and get more plays.
Is it safe to say that all Reggie Brown does is catch TD's? They truely are the only footballs thrown to him that he catches (most of the time anyway :paranoid)
Tapeh is actually in there blowing up some linebackers. Amazing what can happen when the coach lines the offense up in the I. Of course they still threw from the 3 yard line, but seeing them run successfully is at least something to enjoy.

IGY I know you're a big Skins fan and all...but they suck. If there is a team not named Oakland that sucks worse then the Eagles right now, it's the taterskins. Unless Joe Gibbs gets his son Jesus to intervine, the Eagles
should win. It Reid pays attention at all to the way Westbrook has played the last 3 weeks, he'll give them a healthy dose of the running game too.
Anyone can run on the Colts all day long. It's too bad the defense brought zero effort to the game.
they are running successfully because thats what indy does...they let you run...its tough to score by running the ball in the nfl...and if you do score its gonna be a long time consuming drive....which is fine with them...they want the opponent to work for their pts while they will come back an dagger you with a quick strike

It's amazing what a lead blocker can do for a running back. Reid seems to think it's unimportant though.

the eagles shouldnt beat anyone...especially on the road...they lost to tb and got routed by jacksonville and lost to houston at home

Right...and they can run successfully against the taterskins because the taterskins just flat out suck, and don't have the quick strike capability on the same level that the Colts do.
I think that will be the 6th and final victory for the Eagles this year, unless the Giants situation gets worse.

Though McNabb has been a taterskins killer in his career, so...anything's possible without him at QB.

So why are the Eagles still in this one? ???
If Akers didn't miss a 35 yard field goal they would somehow only be down 7...

if Sean Considine has the outside hole covered, why in the hell are you also persuing to the outside icehole? Considine was there to take on the block and turn Addai inside TO YOU, and what do you do? You also run to the outside and get blocked by the OT, leaving no LB to plug the whole on the inside, giving Addai the cut back lane.
Why do some LB's make it to the NFL if they can't even understand that simple part of a defense?

jeezus! get westbrook outta there before he gets hurt.

Nice catch Hank.
This has to be the worst display of defensive ineptitude in the history of this franchise.
Just embarrassing.
And it's not going to get any better. Joy.
i know why they're bringing in AJ, because some throws may need to be further down the field than 15 yards, but honestly, the offense wasn't awful.
if they had any sort of defense they would've been in a competitive game tonight
Agreed, the offense actually looked ok out there. This defense farging reaks to high heaven.
I'm not running through 20 pages of this, but let's just say:
1. Jim Johnson what the farg? Literally the same formations (base 4-3 or nickel) for the entire game. No blitzes, nothing creative at all. Manning just sat there and took the 5-10 yard gains that were given up to him. Pathetic. Not to mention, the linebackers outside of Trotter eat ass, the lineman cant get pressure and the secondary cant tackle. Pathetic all around.
2. Garcia was actually okay. Wasn't gonna win them the game, but didn't go out there and lose it. Made smart throws, Andy used him well.
3. Playcalling improved over last week, but the stupid WR pass from Baskett was a piece of shtein call. That didn't cost them the game, but it didn't help.
4. Raheem Brock went to Temple, and the Eagles refused to sign him because doing so would have caused them to exceed their "draft pick cap." Word.
i wont complain about the offense but id like to see how it performs in a game where the opposing defense actually cares...a game where its close thruout and the end isnt in doubt from the first series

it looked like a preseason game, except the Colts had to keep their #1 offense out there the whole night. the crowd would've left earlier, but they realized that they were in Indianapolis and this blowout was still the most exciting thing to do in a 100 mile radius
harrison had 1 catch for 8 yards
the colts knew exactly where and how to attack the eagles d...and until they replace specifics parts of the defensive personel the rest of the league is gonna do the same

welcome to two years ago ray
trotter is no longer ok, he's almost as much a liability as Jones or McCoy. he's done.
perhaps, or maybe im diluded by the fact that hes far less crappy than mccoy or jones
thats probably it
Hodgkins may be less serious than brain cancer, but their both farging cancer
maybe the entire eagles defense will get hodgkins
maybe mccoy and dhani will miss the plane home
I just want the Eagles to pad Westbrook's stats the rest of the year. He deserves some praise.
The offense looked OK today, the Defense was non-existent. Oh well.
I'm not upset at all. When the defense puts out that type of performance how can a fan get mad when the D obviously doesn't give two shteins?
so gaither and barber can suck in their place?
no way, Gaither has a high motor, that's gotta be good.
the lasting image of him is a whiff on pacman jones last week. but that high motor has gotta be good.
Why is Andy Reid so monotone, and why is he chuckling when asked about Addai's performance. He doesn't even care. Why can't he pull a Denny Green and go on a tirade about how pathetic this defense is.

Will you guys stop with that emotion stuff? How many games does throwing a hissy fit help Tom Coughlin win? How a HC shows his emotions on the sideline or podium has zero correlation with how the team plays. Stop.
i hope he is getting worn down, because he's never going to be fired. him, banner, and lurie are all on the same page, jerking each other off about how smart they are with their "gold standard" the only way Reid will ever be gone is if he burns out and quits. but i have the feeling that he is one of these "never leave a job unfished" type of guys, thus, will never quit.
this is why you need some dissention in the FO, you don't need hatred or anything, but you need some checks and balances. because the three most imporant people in the franchise, all blindly believing in the same flawed strategy is an awful thing.
not true....accountability is a big thing in the nfl...and calling out people in public if done properly is a great motivator...the team doesnt fear or respect reid...not that it matters now as the season is over anyway...but he should have been lighting peoples asses up a long time ago
Calling out people has done wonders for the Giants. :yay

Back in Buddy's days, yeah it worked. In this NFL it doesn't work. It doesn't work in ANY pro sport now. Call a dude out and he cries about it or then proceeds to rip his coach for calling him out. Know why it doesn't work? Because these iceholes go home and count their cash win or lose.
Calling players out publicly doesn't work.
None of us has any idea what Reid does behind closed doors with his players. For all we know, he could be a Hoyda and kiss their asses. Conversely, it's just as possible that he gets in their asses every chance he gets.
Regardless, making asinine comments like "he should have called them out publically" is stupid and pointless.
Humiliating people publically, especially professional athletes in this day and age, is utterly pointless and futile. It simply doesn't work, not in business and certainly not in the four major sports because the athletes hold all the cards now. You can't fire 53 players on the team. Not even Andy could.
I don't want him to call out single individuals. Although it would be funny to hear him go on a 5 minute rant about Reno not stepping up in the return game. :P
But certain aspects of the team need to be called out. The defense and it's ability to stop the run. Yeah, I'm looking right at you.
The team has taken on the characteristics of Andy
EXACTLY
liek ive said for a while now the whole aura surrounding this organization is poisoned...it starts with banner and his treatment of players and moves right down to andy with his milquetoast philosophy on just about everything on the field and off
This poor play has nothing to do with motivation they suck. If you put someone who can't play a lick like McCoy or Dhani on the field, it doesn't matter. They can't make plays, they suck. Same with the entire defensive line. They just don't have the players.

Hoe Cakes, we might actually go 3-3 in the division:o if we beat the taterskins like we should.
There were a lot of taterskins fan who thought we could beat the Colts in Indy. While I was definitely not among them, I have to agree with you. On the whole, we are unrealistic bunch to say the least. The Colts are really, really good, and Philly could not have possibly caught them at a worse time. First start for Garcia, Colts playing at home coming off their first loss.... this game was as obvious a blowout as there was this weekend (except Chargers over Raiders.....nevermind.....)
As for the Eagles-Skins game in 2 weeks, which I will be attending along with thousands of well-mannered, witty Eagles fans.... I say....
Eagles w/McNabb at the Linc > taterskins
Eagles w/o McNabb at FedEx < taterskins
Maybe calling out one or two players works, but what is Andy going to do? Call out the entire defense. To suck that bad against the run, it was a collective effort. Everyone was out of position all night, no one got off blocks, and there were gaping holes all over the field.
Addai might be a decent back, but any back currently in the NFL could have put up huge numbers against this run D today. There was no such thing as a small hole. Addai went practically untouched all night. It was disgraceful. Unfortunately, this team doesn't care; and if they don't, I really don't give a shtein either. It's one thing if they gave a great effort and lost, but they are so obviously just going through the motions that there is no point in getting all worked up over it.

QuoteDL Broderick Bunkley - PHI - Bunkley missed the game on Sunday due to his sore toe, despite being listed as probable on Friday
His toe was sore because Andy jumped up and down on his foot to punish him for missing the plane.
F-
I'll take that as a win.
Bunkley missed the plane because he was getting chicken for teammates and a traffic light was out. Per WIP and some other Iggle boards.
:boom
No one has ever missed a plane on account of a goddamned traffic light. You miss the plane because you don't have your shtein together, not because of a goddamned traffic light.
don't act like all of you haven't missed work because of a chicken run before.
i really don't care. as long as he isn't getting shot, or shooting anyone or selling drugs, I could care less if he missed the damn plane. It's not like he was trying to miss the plane.
Does it really matter why he missed the plane? It's not like he was going to do anything in the game anyway.
Quote from: mussa on December 01, 2006, 02:42:23 PMIt's not like he was trying to miss the plane.
Actually, that's about the only way you can miss a plane. It doesn't happen by accident. You either show up with plenty of time to spare, because you don't want to miss the plane. Or you don't really care about making the flight, which is the same thing as saying you don't want to get on the plane, so you head for the tarmac as late as possible.
The reason it pisses me off is because he was such a high pick at a position of need for our team and missing a team plane shows a lackadaisical attitude. I see a bad trend developing with him, from the holdout - which I know was business but still, you need to have your ass at training camp, to being a disappointment on the field, to missing the plane, to being benched. He doesn't seem to into the game or impressing the coaches which is a cause for concern.

He probably wanted to make the plan, I'm sure he just thought that the world revovled around him and that the plane would be waiting for him there. Athletes, for the most part, and self-centered jackasses. Bunkley probably did feel like shtein showing up to the airport with no plane and buckets of fried chicken. Chances are he ate all of it.
i guess the question remains. did he find a way to get to indy before or after he ate all the chicken?
what a great story. The first round pick is benched because he was too dumb to get the teams fried chicken to the plane on time. Gold Standard.
