How out of touch are the coaches with the rest of the world?
Quote"I know the fans and media want us to throw it 40 or 50 times every game, be dynamic and throw the ball down the field all the time," Mornhinweg said. "But last week dictated that we ran the ball just a little bit more."
Clueless. Utterly clueless. :-D

Those Couches are clueless :P
But last week dictated that we ran the ball just a little bit more
this is more disconcerting if you ask me
its implying that passing the ball is what they are always going to do but 'last week' dictated running the ball more...but dont worry well be back to passing it 50 or 60 times a game soon enough
in fact maybe he said the first comment so that when they go back to all passes he can say thats what everyone wanted
i'm not sure dickbag knows what the word "dictate" means. he's just farting through his mouth.

uh...he was joking
at least thats how i saw it on his PC
I don't care if Morningwhig is clueless or not. If he keeps calling the plays and is able to keep the offense moving then I don't give a shtein what he thinks.

that would make much more sense but then why follow it up with the second comment....because that def doesnt qualify as a joke

because it sounded different when he said it than if you just copy and paste the words.
I can buy that.
makes sense if that is the case. whew.
I totally picked up on the sarcasm, even in plain text form.

Emotion/sarcasm don't always translate well into text. This is a desperate cry for help, and I love you all. :'(
I'm scared this guy might be the next HC when King Andy leaves. Oh god. The horror.
"You have won the toss in overtime what would you like to do? We'll kick!"
He'd better be joking or else that's a scary ass quote.

Nothing beats a great steak. Nothing.
The fact that any of us mistook that even for a second for a serious quote speaks volumes about the Eagles.

fixed
i believed murp
you believed MURP here, but disbelieve his judgement that Brown has dropped 10 instead of 7. mmmkay.
the quote came from This article (http://www.philly.com/mld/dailynews/sports/16034545.htm)... doesnt come off as sarcasm there.
after the mini rape that bowen took at the expense of reid, i am not surprised.
i never said i didnt believe murp
i believe murp believes he has ten drops
i have no idea how many drops he has
i believe that the number of drops hes had in the first eight games this year alone should not have been a determinant in whether the eagles believe they should have extend him
beleedat!!

No...not at all:
QuoteMornhinweg always says the Eagles will do whatever they think will give them the best chance to win that particular game. Yesterday, he jokingly pleaded for fans not to be too disappointed with the 30 carries for the running backs last week, vs. just 26 passes. Of course, Eagles fans are more likely to clamor for the team to run.
you believe whatever serves you at the time you're spewing.
beleedat homeboy
Oh, no you didnnnn....
I do remember complaints when Reid first came that there were too many short passes and not enough big plays. Of course, if your WR's are Charles Johnson and Torrance Small, good luck with the big pass plays.
Will Brown and Stallworth be the best Eagle combo ever? Or does Arkansas Fred and Calvin still rank at the tops?
I'd say Tommy McDonald & Pete Retzlaff were the best receiving tandem ever.
get the hell outta here
tommy mcdonald wouldnt even make a division one college team today
how the farg could you even know that?

McDonald is in the Hall of Fame, IGY. And Retzlaff was a great, great football player in his day.
Besides, comparing era's is impossible because we have no idea what those players would be like if they had the same training facilities and nutritional information that the players have today.
tommy mcdonald was like 5-8 170 and slower than dirt
jim brown can crossover
lance allworth crossover
elroy hirsch crossover
tommy mcdonald would be a good ivy leaguer
Pinkston and Thrash. Holla.

??? Thats farging unbeleedable. McDonald would probably be the best receiver on this team. The man could flat out get open. Just ask '64'.
I'm a little confused with the Mornhinweg comment though. I hope he's being sarcastic, because if playing the 30th ranked D in the league dictates we run more............well, I guess the weather was the
real dictating factor.
I always get a laugh out of people dismissing athletes from other era's because their measureables then aren't the same as the players today.
McDonald dominated against the competition he played against then. If he didn't, he wouldn't be enshrined in Canton.
Oh, and as your lady-friends likely tell you, size ain't everything, dook. ;)
sorry not everyone from back then could make the move to this era...tommy regardless of the fact that hes in the hall and is an eagle is one of the guys that couldnt make that crossover
it would be interesting to see what hed do at say a place like william and mary tho...probably set some records

Quote"If I had 11 Tommy McDonald's onmy team, I'd win a championship every year," Vince Lombardi once said. The 5-9, 176 pounder dazzled fans with acrobatic receptions for 12 seasons and finished his career ranked 6th alltime in receptions (495), 4th in yards (8410), and 2nd in TDs (84). In 1960, he registered 13 TDs for theNFL Champion Eagles. A 3rd round selection in1957, he became. Born July 26, 1934, in Roy, NM, he starred at Oklahoma. As a senior, he won the Maxwell Award as the nation's top collegian.
I don't remember, but wasn't the Maxwell the then equivelant of the Heisman? A good ivy leaguer....... :-D

I'd have to agree. He might make an OK #3 WR at best. I think people underestimate the ridiculous increase in the overall athleticism in the league from 30+ years ago.
well mcdonald would have joined the roid rage too...so that should be factored into it.
The guy is a Hall of Famer and that's all that needs to be said about him.
We can go back and forth all day about his measureables but the bottom line is he produced on the field against the best competition at the time.
no one is questioning that and he derserves to be a hof
but he is nowhere close to being the best wr the eagles have ever had
that honor goes to TO
i'd vote for Carmichael
Na Brown.
mike quick and imo its not really close
He may not be the best, but he's damn shore one of them. He was one of the most atheletic players of his time. I'm not saying he'd be a TO or Charles Johnson, but to say he'd be a good college player and wouldn't make it in the NFL.......I just don't agree. He would have the same conditioning as players do now.
It's almost like saying Johnny Unitas wouldn't be anything but a good college qb.
Anywayz, although what Mornhinweg says is interesting, I just hope he keeps calling the plays balanced out like he did against the Skins.

if quick would have had more than 6 healthy seasons, absolutey. but longevity is part of it, and carmichael had 13 seasons, and played on some pathetic teams in the mid 70's.
for my money, it's carmichael...by a hair over quick.
fair point but i think 6 years in the nfl is a long time and is more than enough to qualify him as the best wr theyve ever had

I'd love to have either one right now.
Harold Jackson was also a great receiver in the early 1970's.
Actually, Jackson & Carmichael might have been the best duo if they had a decent quarterback throwing to them.
Tommy McDonald is white.
He would never cut it now. [/igy]

Exactly. ::)
I think what Rome might be trying to say, or atleast how I'm taking it...If Tommy Mac was born and raised at the same time as Chad Johnson, Steve Smith, etc...he'd be a little bit bigger, as the average size of a person has certainly gone up from the time he was born to the time Steve Smith was born. So therefore, if McDonald was young enough to play today, he'd be bigger, and have the same oppertunities to have the top notch training that all the other athletes recieve today. It's rediculous to think that just because he's....oh, I don't know, white...he couldn't be just as athletic as everyone else if he was born 30 years later or whatever the number may be.
But back then, he was the equivilant to the Chad Johnsons and Steve Smiths and TOs and Marvin Harrisons that we have today. He was one of, if not the best WR playing professional football. Yes, I know it pains our good friend IGY that one of the best WR's back then was white....but it is the unfortunate truth. :(
So anyway....oh yeah, Morningwood, running, joke, sucks, sarcasm, pass 50 times, what's Darwin Walker's status, okay. Yeah.
