Title: DALLAS BEAT THE beagles
Post by: wowboys on October 23, 2006, 05:12:47 PM
DALLAS WEEK?   DALLAS WEEK?! What is that?!!    Why does the city of philadelphia concentrate on DALLAS SO MUCH?    It really shouldn't be even called DALLAS WEEK, it should be called DALLAS 2 weeks, because you hear most of the fans talking about DALLAS two weeks out!     Well, I can certainly understand why, I mean, after all, the average eagle fan, is thinking about all of the success that DALLAS has had, and not to mention that SWEEP last year.    So, you have your DALLAS WEEK, and all anyone can think or talk about is DALLAS; your team is pumped up to MAXIMUM LEVEL, THEY PUT THEIR HEARTS AND SOULS INTO BEATING MY TEAM, then........NOTHING.     They have put everything into DALLAS, and have absolutely nothing for New Orleans, and nothing for Tampa Bay.      You can blame andy reid for that crap!     Bill Parcells gets his team mentally ready every game, why doesn't andy reid?    You can tell when a coach hasn't prepared his team, mentally, when a team BARELY squeaks by DALLAS(a team that is their biggest rival), then follows that victory up with losing to teams that are not as good as DALLAS.    Now, you have DALLAS playing the giants, on MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL, and playing for FIRST PLACE!

So, now you have DALLAS playing for first place; your team has lost 2 in a row, and you have a team that is just as good, if not better, to play next week, and if that ain't BAD, just think, the HARD PART OF THE SEASON IS COMING UP :o!!    Good luck, eagles, with that SCHEDULE you'll need it.

I think he last won a playoff game before Reid took over in Philly, though.

So, you'd simply like him to rephrase things in a harsher way?

ie:
"I have to do a better job of putting players in position to make plays" --> "I coached like a melted dog turd today"
Title: Re: DALLAS BEAT THE beagles

how about

"the quarterback CANNOT make that throw, and we are gonna make sure it doesnt happen again"

or

"the dumb mistakes that have been made all year and continue to be made stop this week, and if they dont someone is going home....for good"
Title: Re: DALLAS BEAT THE beagles

What good would calling his players out in public do?  After he's spent the past seven-plus years doing exactly the opposite, what message would it send if he all of a sudden started launching verbal potshots at everyone?

Ripping someone publically, either in business or the sports world, is the worst kind of chickenshtein response to adversity.

If you're going to blast someone who works for you, you do it privately.  You don't embarrass and humiliate people in order to get them to do what you want them to do.  It just doesn't work, guys.

What they (AR, DM, others) say to the press has absolutely ZERO value to how this team performs.

Zero.  Nada.  Nothing.

Actually that's not clear at all.

And there is no way without resulting to more blanket hyperbolic statements, that even if said...simply would not hold a drop of water.

Why would it be nice to say it in the media? So people can sink their teeth into it and say "Yeah! Reid jumped in their asses! That'll show 'em because he's talking tough!"

He does it in his own way. I actually thought he was doing it when he said Donovan messed up on that throw before the half. First time I can remember him even getting close to saying something critical about one of his guys. BUt he does it in his own way. Too many people want another Buddy Ryan to run this team (as far as being brash and whatnot). I like reading shtein talking quotes too. But its counterproductive with these players today. Call out your players and you have problems. Tom Coughlin anyone?

I'm all for getting the message across that they need to do better. But pulling a Coughlin or Parcells is not the wayto do it. The way to do it is how he did it on Monday. Acknowledge the mistakes without ripping a guy. Say he's got to do better but in a positive way.

Jack McCaffrey; REID HAS HAS ENOUGH... (http://www.delcotimes.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=17367964&BRD=1675&PAG=461&dept_id=18170&rfi=6)

Quote"I wanted the ball in the end zone. It didn't go in the end zone. That's what happens."

Quotethere was something different about Reid Monday. Not only did he order his Eagles to spend some time in film study on a day when they customarily are allowed to rest, but he did not -- not once -- volunteer himself as a human shield and accept the blame for the defeat. Rather, he rightly credited Tampa Bay kicker Matt Bryant for a clutch, 62-yard game-winning kick. And he acknowledged that his buck-12-million-dollar quarterback should have thrown the ball into scoring range at the end of the first half. And he said that his younger players have to be more aware

Quote"You can't do that in the NFL," Reid said. "The things that have happened to us, happen. We've got to straighten that out. Just as easy as you make them, you cannot make them and win football games. That can be changed around. You just have to focus in just a little bit more."

QuoteBut it was Reid, finally, challenging his players ..and in public.

Yeah Westbrook is totally useless when he touches the ball more then 15 times a game. He wears down too much. You saw it in the 4th quarter this past Sunday. They obviously need a big back, that will solve thier problems.

But anyway...IGY, what do you want Reid to do?

It was either the post game show, or the day-after show on 94.1 WYSP. Can't remember which one. I'm pretty sure it was the tail-end of the post game show because I left th ehouse a little after the game to go down to UD.

One of the guys on there was like "Andy Reid, definately not the type of guy to throw things....Throwing things in the lockerroom today." I do believe one of the guys on that show is Bill Bergy though so... :paranoid

How about the fact that he made 4 absolutely horrific throws in that game and that the Ronde Barber/Gruden/Kiffin player/coaches relationship seems to be about 20 times quicker on the take than the McNabb/Reid one?
