QuoteRoper Promoted To Active Roster
October 4, 2006
By CHRIS McPHERSON
The Eagles announced on Wednesday morning that linebacker Dedrick Roper was promoted from the practice squad to the 53-man active roster.
LB Dedrick Roper
To make room for Roper, cornerback Dustin Fox was waived. A replacement for Roper's spot on the practice squad was not announced.
Roper originally signed with the Eagles in November 2005 and was a productive member of the special teams unit (11 special teams tackles in 6 games) after spending the first part of the season on Pittsburgh's practice squad.
Roper, who will add depth at the SAM linebacker position, was with the Eagles in this year's training camp and survived until the final roster cutdown. Three days later, he was signed to the practice squad.
Fox was signed to the practice squad after the final roster cutdown and 15 days later was promoted to the active roster when cornerbacks Lito Sheppard and Rod Hood suffered injuries. Fox played in Monday night's win against the Green Bay Packers on special teams.
Tells me that Lito and Hood should be ready to go this Sunday. Lito at least.
Glad to see he is back, he is a solid ST performer.
good riddance
i just got my fox jersey too.
Iwas hoping they would lure Bobby Taylor off the runways.
Damn... I was really looking to "Sehorn version 2.0"
Fox will probably go back on the practice squad--especially with the secondary being so vulnerable to injury.

Well... I'd rather he be gone altogether, becuase if he were to see the field again, the secondary would be vulnerable to sucking.
why would you just write him off like that before he ever plays a down for the team

You must not have noticed that he was the one that got beat and flagged leading up to the goalline stand at the end of the game. He got burned pretty bad.

Yep... had to grab the guy's jersey to save the TD.
i'm pretty sure he was joking

Yes, but the joke wouldn't make any sense if Fox had seen the field, which he did.
Also, speaking CB's that like to get toasted, there are actually rumors floating around that the Eagles are claiming Ahmad Carroll off of waivers, or that he cleared waivers and the Eagles are signing him. Hahaha... I hope they're not true.
Yeah, I know what his point was. That he said that about this kid the day the Eagles promoted him and folks jumped on him for condemning him so quickly.
The thing is... he said the same thing about that white LB we have and he's having a pretty solid season so far.
it wasnt a joke....the people who yelled at me last week when i said the guy couldnt play are a joke...but i guess its ok to say he sucks now because he now has been in for a few nfl plays

That's all part of Andy's plan. Make the guy look so damn bad... that he gets cut and we swoop in and snatch him because there's something special there that the rest of the league doesn't see.
I just wish he would have done that to Charles Woodson. :-D
