Title: Green Bay Discussion
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on October 01, 2006, 02:39:35 AM
Instead of putting all of this crap in the Injury Thread, figured I'd start one just for this game;

QuotePackers FB Williams Henderson won't start Monday night when they play at Philadelphia. Head coach Mike McCarthy made that known after Green Bay completed its lengthy practice week Saturday. Brandon Miree, a second-year player promoted from the practice squad Tuesday, was given the starting nod.

QuoteAccording to GreenBayPackers.com, RB Ahman Green (rib, hamstring) was downgraded from probable to questionable for Week 4 at Philadelphia. Green tweaked his hamstring in practice on Friday. He had hamstring problems last week at Detroit, but it is not his other hamstring that is giving him problems. "I'm hopeful he's going to play, just based on the information we have," Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said. "But it's just part of our game. We have to get Mo (Vernand Morency) and Noah (Herron) ready to go."

No Henderson, possibly no Ahman Green. Good news.

Miree was with Denver for a little bit and played college ball at PITT. If their backfield consists of Miree, Herron and Morency it's all over but the cryin' for GB.

They're going to get killed anyways, but this will only make it worse. Their OL is bad and if they have no semblance of a running game Favre is dead.

With Driver & Jennings their only weapons I'd let Dawk and Lewis stay back for awhile and see if the front 4 can get to Brett first. Take away those WRs and its goodnight for Saint Brett.

I'm expecting at least 4 more sacks from our D. Especially with a lack of running game to wear down the defense.

old Favre, new Favre whatever, our defensive back situation is a big concern.  Driver is still a stud and Jennings is proving he is a damm fine receiver.

Two rookie guards starting.

Driver and jennings are dangerous, but no way #4 gets to throw the deep ball. If they are smart, they will go to a quick passing game, or he is going to get smashed.

Its gonna be a rout, Eagles 34 - 10 at halftime.
D knocks favre out.
Don't know, don't care, it doesn't matter who the backup is.
ok, so its Rodgers. big deal.
Final score should be at least Eagles 51 - 16
Unfortunatly Patterson doesn't return one this week.
Final score.. Eagles 40- Packers 37 in OT.

if we are up big by the half, are we going to have another lapse in the 3rd qrt?

the suspense is killing me.

I dunno...but I really dig Jennings. I wanted him in the draft. I was pimping him, Brandon Marshall and Jeff Webb.

Being that we're playing against Favre tonight... and we got T.O. next week, I'm putting the over/under at 2 for the amount of times the MNF crew even acknowledge the Eagles exist.

Make sure your mute buttons are working tonight guys.

I am starting to think this game has "trap" written all over it.  Our secondary is banged up, Fahvra is somewhat on a roll...Dallas (and some infamous WR) coming next week.  Despite all the lip service thats been paid by the Eagles to the contrary, they could be looking past the Packers.

That being said:

Eagles 42 (all in the first three quarters)
Fudge Packers 28 (all in the 4th quarter with Aaron Rogers)

2 of the 4 players with the longest active starting streaks will be playing tonight... Favre and Runyan.

QuoteStreak vs. streak

Brett Favre will make his NFL-record 225th consecutive start tonight, a streak that began 14 years ago this week when he started against the Steelers.

Meanwhile, Eagles right tackle Jon Runyan will extend his own streak to 148 consecutive starts, fourth-longest among active NFL players. Will Shields has started 210 and Derrick Brooks has started 164.

"A lot of it is luck," Runyan said. "And a lot of it is just good genes I guess. I think the main thing for me is that when I'm playing, I'm not standing still, and that's when you can get hurt -- when you're planting and somebody rolls you. I'm usually running around and diving onto the pile and looking for somebody to hurt."

:yay

Out here in cheese land most people give the Pack little to no chance. The Packer's D-line features two one-trick ponys in KGB & Kampman. They are both speed rushers who eat up Te's but get destroyed by everyone else. The Safeties are atrocious, and the corners play physical but get torched enough. LBs are active against the run, but sad in pass coverage. The packs new zone blocking scheme hasn't caught on yet. They can't run at all. We basically need to watch out for Driver and Jennings and the ocasional screen pass.

Eagles 37
Packers 29

The Packers will score a lot less if Ahman Green can't go or isn't quite right.  He's questionable.

37 - 21 eagles, Farvererer needs to score at least 18pts. for me to win in FFB and with our "secondary" that should not be an issue.

Mic, Favre will throw for 250+ yds and 3 td's tonight giving you the necessary points to win.  Unfortunately, he will also toss a couple of picks and lose a fumble leaving you with 17.5 points.  Man.  That's gonna suck.

Ok so if he throws 4 then I'm cool with the 3 picks, thanks !!!

Jennings is good, I wanted him in the draft, but one long TD isn't enough evidence to say he's better than anyone, especially when its against a zesty defense in detroit and very poor tackling. Its yet to be known how good he is. He reminds me of a Santama Moss/Steve Smith type receiver, small and quick.

Either way our d-line needs to create pressure on Favre. Our CB's are hurting. I'm not too concerned just because of the lack of run game, crap OL and a not very mobile, Favre.  Next week is our first real challenge. I'm nervous about that game already, I just hope we don't overlook the Pack tonight.

Gotta love Tom Jackson.  They ask Irvin about McNabb's resurgence this season and the whole time he's blabbing on... TJ is just holding up signs that "Better Off".  :-D

I'd say start a new one.  This one's more of a prediction thread.

Not that I care that much.

Oh, by the way, the Eagles lose.  John Madden dies of a heart attack after orgasming all over himself.
