Title: D. Jones
Post by: MURP on September 11, 2006, 09:28:46 AM
Give an honest answer.  How many times do you actually remember seeing Dhani Jones in the game yesterday?  I can say 1 time, and that was after I wondered if he was even playing so I specifically looked for him.  He blitzed and was stone walled on that particular play.

Trotter- 9 tackles
McCoy-  8 tackles
Jones- 1 tackle

make some plays ya waste.

Good thing the team only has 6 LBs.

i remember him a lot...but it was always him slapping the helmet of a guy who just made a play

He didn't do anything spectacular but I can't point my finger at him for any one big play the Texans had.  I'd say the game was a tremendous step up for him.

On another note, McCoy had a strong game.  From the beginning of the game pushing over an OL into a pile for no reason, to just being a playmaker.  Not to shabby for a white 2nd round LB*.

*(Im not anointing him a probowler, just very satisfied with his production and agressiveness)

I agree with what others have said.  I also didn't see Dhani get beat.  The starting TE for the Texans didn't do anything, and I'd like to think Jones had something to do with that.

Emmons didn't really make any big plays when he was around either - he just didn't allow many either.

Jones is not as much of a concern as the secondary holding up if Lito misses more time.

Jones was invisible to me.  I have nothing to add.

I noticed him once, kind of flopping over the top of a pile-o-players. That was about it. But like Patt said, maybe it's not necessarily a bad thing that we didn't see him that much.

I notcied that too, an upside down 55...i also agree that i could not pin any breakdowns on him either

In a week, Shockey will test Jones more than I care to think about.  We'll see then just how invisible he is then.

..and to take this thread slightly off-topic, I think Shockey's "celebration" after his TD was actually pretty cool.

I hate the guy, but he made that man in uniform the happiest MF'er in the stadium with one simple gesture.

i thought they said his name once, and i remember seeing him on the screen once but at least we were not told routinely that he was beaten on the play.

and i also agree with FF, for one brief moment i had a lot of respect for shockey.

I personally loved the play of McCoy yesterday, and that screen he blew up I feel is the type of play he'll be making all year long.

As far as Dhani....I think it was a good thing that we didn't see much of him.   After all, if he was covering the TE then apparently he did a good job since we didn't see any passes to their TE...

I missed that last night, what was his celebration?

He handed the ball to some hired killers standing in the corner of the sideline.

They had abortion doctors on the sideline? That's odd.

Well, they do kill a lot of babies.  Usually with bombs, not specialized vacuums.  But close enough.

Correct.  U.S. Soldiers.  Then he hugged the guy, too.

It was possibly a very empty gesture, but it still made the guy's night.

I thought I saw Dhani make a tackle, but then there was an ax-swinging celebration instead of a guitar solo.

He's been average this year. Compared to last year being average this year is like him being a stud. They've done well against TEs thusfar.

Yeah, I'm quite pleased with his development into a mediocrity.  The LB  play in general has been far superior to preseason expectations.

I really like how McCoy has been playing. His recognition skills are very good.
