I've been putting together an Eagles site for a little while now. General Failure has been kind enough to let me put the word out here on CF for anyone interested. The goal is to take a deeper look at the games and see what other information can be deduced in addition to the media and fan opinions. I am attempting to track statistics that are not followed by the NFL per say (at least not readily available to us) and put that information out there for use by whomever is interested. Some of it will end up being football trivia at best. Some of it will hopefully shed new light on how players are really performing. It is a work in progress and is fairly raw for now.... I have a few things up now although they do not fully encompass the type of content I intend to put out weekly. PhillyPhreak54 has also joined the cause and will be a regular contributor to the site. (and I'm not using spellchecker Seabiscuit!) Anyway, take a moment to bookmark the link and visit often.

I would have never guessed that Jeff Blake's QB rating was so high for the Eagles.
sweet logo!
where's the razorgator sponsorship?
Looks cool. Someone's got a lot of time on their hands....
Good hustle Murp. How do you use the draft tracker? Just type in names?

All that and you spelled Brzezinski right. :D

I thought that might be a little confusing. When you go into the draft reference area there are currently two "articles" in there. Just click on the article to read it. The search thing is to search out something within the article itself. It might be useful in the future when we have more info in there to search out.
Looks good!
always good to find another Eagles enthusiasts website.
with Phreak helping, it should be a whoot :crazy
Great work there MURPH! I love the in depth look at things, especailly Stallworth.

MURP does not have much free time. Makes the new site all the more impressive. Congrats!
Very cool, I'll visit often....
Pretty cool site, MURP.
You've got Dominic Furio, Scott Peters and John Romero listed as a CB's though. No wonder they didn't pan out. :-D
what in the ?!?! good lookin out feva. I have some stuff up from the Houston game. More to come during the week. Thanks to all for helping edit the site. 8)
Good stuff. Will you be putting in anything regarding the run/pass mix? Maybe break it down by half or quarter, so we can see how the ratio shakes out?
definitely. I have all kinds of stuff in the works. It really just depends on how much time I can find to do it. :afro
i like it murp, nice job and i look forward to checking it out regularly.
I have added an in depth rushing breakdown, missed tackles, first off the ball ... and an in depth Thomas Tapeh review is on its way. www.eagleswarroom.com
Great site, Murp. It wasn't loading the first time I checked on it but got it bookmarked and it's very, very comprehensive. I look forward to seeing it flesh out. Good stuff! :yay
Great stuff that is just about impossible to find anywere else. Interesting that the team stats show most of the yards rushing left, but Bwest getting most of his rushing right.
I also noticed that there was one other receiver besides L.J. who caught all the passes that were thrown to him, Greg Lewis.
MURPH, do you have or plan to have any stats on sacks and hurries? I'm just wondering, I know you have a lot on your plate already.
Keep up the good work.
QuoteTeam Rushing / Direction
Left Side of Line: 9 carries, 67 yards
Middle of Line: 9 carries, 26 yards
Right side of Line: 8 carries, 26 yards
Surprising to see that they had so much more success running the ball to the Thomas/Herremans side than the Runyan/Andrews side.
Herremans is looking like a real nice pick by Andy.
Really nice Murph ;)
Herremans is looking like a real nice pick by Andy
herremans played well no doubt...but i think it had more to do with mario williams not being ready to play yet than anything else...he was awful
I looked for reasons to like the Mario Williams pick, but if they knew in April that Davis might not be 100%, there should have been no hesitation for them to ink a deal with Bush.
Like I've said, Mario Williams honestly looked like a cheap knock-off of Darren Howard.
The Texans could have signed Howard if they really wanted to, and drafted Bush. They suck.

Not yet. the NFL already tracks em so it would have to be some kind of original stat Id be looking for. If you have any ideas let me know.

Is there really a need to track hurries? We got rid of Mamula years ago.

You could track all the times Madden mentions Favre, Cheesesteaks and TO whenever the Eagles play on Sunday Nights.
Edit: Nevermind. I just remembered that the Eagles don't have any SNF games this year. Oh well. Just do it next year then.
Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of when Herremans or Ruynan get beat and their man gets the sack. I've never seen the NFL track that. Maybe they do. But we were talking O-line, I should have been more specific.
Well forget that, I found it. (http://snap.stats.com/stats/nflinfo/playerstats.asp?id=3666)

I've seen that tracked before but I can't say that I recall the NFL ever tracking it. It's probably something I read on some obscure football site or maybe even another message board at some point.
Regardless, I agree that would be a good stat to keep track of.
Murp, I don't know if you plan on tracking any of these but I think they may be cool things to keep an eye on if you have the time:
Offensive penalties that negate a 1st down/touchdown. Even getting a little more in depth, how many penalties are "drive killing" penalties. ie: 3rd down penalties
3rd down defensive penalties that allow the opposition to maintain possesion that result in a score (someone else can think of a shorter name for it)
Missed takeaways (dropped ints, unrecovered fumbles). This stat would obviously be a matter of opinion as to whether or not a dropped int was "catchable" or not and whether or not the defense had a legitimate shot at a fumble recovery.
Thanks for the input everyone. There are some interesting idea's here to take a look into. I'll have to see how much time each one would take to do every week and figure out which ones are most time efficient to track along with everything else I have.
Times TO is referenced in each broadcast, brokendown by each announcer.
They'll need more people to track that.
Is it possible to get RazorGator as a sponsor, Murp?
On their site they have a contact page that mentions affiliates. I sent them an email. They havnt gotten back yet.
MURP is putting up some interesting stats.
QuoteSeason Total Dropped Passes:
Stallworth: 3
Brown: 3
Westbrook: 3
LJ Smith: 2
Tapeh: 2
Schoebel: 1
Lewis: 1
No fewer than 2 of those passes would have been TDs (Schoebel and Lewis). Might have been a TD drop by Stallworth, I don't recall.
It looked to me like Madison had his hands on a pick in the end zone, and at the same time...Stallworth got a hand in there to break it up. Don't know if I'd consider it a drop.
Can't forget about Reggie's drop in the end zone against the Niners.
MURP... don't remember if anyone suggested this one, but something I saw in this article (http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/sports/columnists/15580086.htm) last week made me think this would be a nice stat to keep track of.
Even though the Eagles D has 16 sacks at this point (13 at the time of the article), it brought up the point that the Eagles still didn't get enough pressure on the QB. It took into account not just the sacks, but hurries and hits on the QB as well to come up with a % of snaps per game.
Like I said, don't remember if it's been suggested... and don't even know how available the stat is already... but I thought it was a pretty interesting stat.

I managed to catch it on video from the stands if you'd like to see it. :-\
MURP: I like the targeted/receptions stats. Could you add success completion percentage as a third column? This would be great to see for each game, and for the year-to-date...
week four:
Times Targeted / Receptions / Success Rate (%)
----------------------------------------
Brown: 8/3/37.5%
Stallworth: 6/1/16.6%
Baskett: 4/2/50%
LJ Smith: 4/2/50%
Mahe: 3/3/100%
Lewis: 2/2/100%
Buckhalter: 2/2/100%
Tapeh: 1/1/100%
Schoebel: 1/1/100%
Moats: 1/0/0%
On the year so far, it looks like:
Times Targeted / Receptions / Success Rate (%)
Brown: 27/11/40%
LJ Smith: 24/18/75%
Stallworth: 23/12/52%
Westbrook: 22/15/68%
Lewis: 12/9/75%
Baskett: 8/4/50%
Buckhalter: 6/6/100%
Tapeh: 7/5/71%
Schoebel: 5/3/60%
Moats: 1/0/0%
Quote from: Diomedes on October 06, 2006, 01:33:16 PMLJ Smith: 24/18/75%
This is by far the best of the bunch.
The thing about Reggie is all of his drops. The only thing that is encouraging to me is even when he is dropping them he is getting good seperation. hopefully this is something that will be corrected soon.

LJ is on pace to surpass the single-season club record for receiving yards by an Eagles tight end (set by Keith Jackson in 1988). He's third in the NFL among tight ends for both receptions and yards.
Did Reggie really have 4 drops Monday? I thought he had like two.
MURP, you're site is pretty dope. Keep it up! :yay
One *fun* stat that is easy to keep track of but found on NFL.com.... Team Reception Stats (http://www.nfl.com/stats/teamsort/NFL/OFF-RECEIVING/2006/regular?&_1:col_1=9&_1:col_2=10) but it shows that currently we have over 31 plays over 20 Yards, 11 more than the next team (St. Louis) and we have 7 plays over 40 Yards, 2 more than the next team (Chicago).
I was just feeling left out with the suggestions, but its a pretty cool stat to drool on...especially when our team is leading both categories.
Anyways, get back to your family.
good find hbionic. Id be interested to see what the NFL season record is for that. At their current pace, the eagles must be close to matching it or better by the end of the year.
Looks pretty sweet....I'll add a link to it on my blog....what kind of content do intend to focus on....need contributors?
