Man there is no way I would miss an Eagles game voluntarily, even for something cool like that.
No
I buckled and added "SuperFan" to my D* subscription.
$99 for all the available games in HD, the GameMix and RedZone channels, and (most importantly for me) the < 30-minute complete game replays the following day. Hollaz.
Do you get the one that has 6 games at the same time on one channel?

Do you get the one that has 6 games at the same time on one channel?
a.k.a. GameMix - Yes.
The RedZone channel shows big plays and highlights just after they happen, but the disclaimer is that CBS games won't be part of that... so it seems to be a bit of a waste.
The cool thing about GameMix is that as you have one game highlighted, you get that game's audio - and if you select it, it will push the game up to full size. Sundays will be fun this year.
NY Rochester
I laugh at the fact that Rochester NY gets the Eagles - Texans when both of them have nothing to do with anything of the area. Im not complaining though.

sweet i get to see week 1 and 2 so far for sure. living in nyc is pretty good if ur a eagles fan cause anytime the eagles and giants arent playing the same time they end up showing the eagles game on fox.
I work in a TV station. I might be able to tune in the game.

Speaking of NFL Sunday Ticket, I thought the Superfan channels were the shtein. It was a free preview this week only, which makes me think they might not have as many people signing up for it as they thought they would have. $100 is too much for me after forking over the $200 for the original package already. It should be part of the regular package anyway as far as I'm concerned.
But regardless, the redzone channel was awesome.

I thought the exact opposite as you. Is Sunday Ticket overpriced? Yes. But I couldn't imagine flipping around all the non-HD channels and THAT'S IT. The extra hundred bucks is a small price to pay to get all the available games in HD, RedZone channel, and ShortCuts. It includes the GameMix too, but I thought that was stupid. ShortCuts is the best - if there's one or two (or all) games you want to see on at 1:00 or 4:00 on Sunday - you can DVR them on ShortCuts overnight and watch them each in 30 minutes or less on your own schedule.

EJ72 PM'd me this link to post up in the appropriate thread. This can be of use to those of you who live out of the area and will not get the game this weekend (or any other weekend).
http://www.tvunetworks.com/
Apparently this is a place where you can view broadcast TV from other parts of the country. EJ72 said that several Cowboys fans watched the DAL-SF pre-season game on this site because they have west coast FOX and CBS affiliates on their site.
I haven't tried it yet but for those of you who dont get the game on Sunday you should check it out and see if it works for you. Find out what FOX station it will be on in SF and then see if it works.
Ed, you could post it up in the EMB gamethread too.
Is the site legal?
Bunkley, as far as I know yes. From what I've been able to learn about these streaming TV players, they use peer to peer sharing in a manner similiar to torrent downloading, where there is no one single source, but multiple sources streaming data that's combined to form the content. About the only issue I could imagine would be the copyright, but I would imagine the source would be liable for that rather than the recipient as long as it isn't being recorded and redistributed.(Which is done with pretty fair regularity to begin with, when you consider that every video highlight that any given individual uploads is technically copyright infringement, although it's not generally done for profit.)
One thing I did notice is, it's limited to users with broadband access. I hadn't noticed that before, and since we've had broadband for some years now, I kind of take it for granted. I can't guarantee it will carry the game. I don't know for certain which affiliates are streaming in the program and which will be airing your game, but I would imagine the chance exists that since it aired a S.F. game before, it may again. That's why I thought of it.

Where are you staying? In the city?
It'll probably be 58 degrees at Monster Park and 85 degrees about 2 miles inland. I went to a Giants game as a kid there in June and froze my ass off.
For the record, it looks as though that player will be carrying your game. I looked at the forum where they post the schedules, and they have it listed at 4 PM eastern time.
http://forum.viidoo.com/viewtopic.php?t=1112
For those that want to try it, it takes a minute for it to lock into the stream and can be kind of choppy. There are no real configuration options save for a full window(Not full screen) view. Also, I would download it ahead of time and see how it works on your PC with your connection first. For one thing, the download from that site is sloooow, so slow I couldn't imagine how they could stream video. For another, I wouldn't want to be all hyper in anticipation of watching a game only to try to use this thing and have it not work for crap and be disappointed.
One more note: This doesn't have channels for all areas of the country. Some Cowboy fans tried to see if it would carry more games, but it was just dumb luck that they were playing SF and this program happens to carry their channel.

I'll be at the game. It is completely irrelevant where it's broadcast. It's also of no consequence who is calling the game as I will be unable to hear them.
Where are you staying? In the city?

We're staying just south of the city.....about 10 miles from the park. Weather forcast for the weekend is high 60's/low 70's. Colder than what I'm used to in NC but definately good weather.
hey guys so i downloaded that tvu player thing just now to try it out and it took forever for it to download and thats on my broadband connection. still the good news is that once i got it to work it worked really well and i put it on the fox feed and it came pretty clear. this will be great for those of us who cant see the game today, unfortunately this is supposedly only for the san fran fox feed right now?
SF feed or Philly feed - it doesn't matter really. You'd get Kenny Albert and Brian Baldinger on either one.
That TVU thing doesn't specify which feed is being picked up for the major stations. Is it San Francisco or Los Angeles or something else on the west coast?
I hope it's one of the markets getting the Birds. This thing looks pretty damn good.
By the way, I don't see how it could possibly be legal. It's rebroadcasting premium content like HBO and CNN Pipeline.
yeah i dont know which feed we are going to get. when i checked the fox station they have thier...some christian show was on.
Anyone have an update about which early game they are showing?
Hard to tell from the early game because that's CHI/MN, and most of the country is getting that. When I checked that forum where they list the schedules, it included "KTVU Channel 2 News At 6", and KTVU is the SF Fox affiliate.
http://www.ktvu.com/index.html
When I made that last post early yesterday morning I didn't see/hear them say it was KTVU Fox, but I saw the station logo in the lower right corner and it matched the one at the SF affiliate's website.
It will lock up sometimes while playing, and I had to use the program's menu bar to get the audio to kick in. Usually, hitting the refresh button at the bottom will get it back on track. I felt like I had my old TV and I have to keep on getting off the couch to mess with rabbit ears, holding onto them to keep the picture locked in. :)
QB Eagle, I hadn't thought of the HBO/premium channel aspect, when I was watching that game I just had pigskins dancing before my eyes. This will probably be one of those programs that goes the way of that Napster thing eventually.
EJ, the site appears to be based out of Shanghai. They have little if any respect for American intellectual property over there. My best friend used to sell pirated DVDs in Shanghai and made a killing. I suspect the site'll be around for a while.
People sell pirated DVDs here all the time and make a profit. Whats the difference?
The scale is a bit different. I haven't seen any DVD superstores in the US without a single legal release on the shelves.
I just checked and they're showing the Eagles game :yay
and its pretty good quality.
It's only a play behind, too...
I'm watching it... this rules. :yay
I can't get the thing to work. Do you just click on the channel you want and wait a bit?
yup. it's not recommended if you have lower than cable though. DSL might work but it'll be choppy...

It takes a couple to get the connection, but yes. You'll probably get some green screen, then it starts to come in. If you don't have a broadband connection it probably won't work though, unfortunately.
Incase you're wondering, here's who will be getting the game this week:

Besides... I work with a Giants fan who will be very happy if I get it tuned in... and I'm still not speaking to him. farg him.
That last map looks like some sort of tasty cupcake. mmm....
Good thing we got that map. I was worried that someone, somewhere wouldn't be able to see the game.
As heard on Sirius NFL radio this morning: "everybody loves a circus" They are calling the Eagles-Cowboys game the game everyone wants to see.

I say we come up with a way to embarass ourselves on a global scale, so Joe Buck gives us a stern reprimand. I was thinking maybe putting Felicia Terrell masks on some blow-up dolls & having our fans sodomize them as T.O. comes in the tunnel after warm ups.
We need something totally over the top to totally finish off the reputation of Philly sports fans. I'm talking something like attaching a bungee cord quietly to the ankle of a Cowgirls fan in the upper deck and then pitching them off of the balcony. Something where no one gets hurt but we end up looking worse than ever.

4:15PM = Chiefs/Steelers (Greg Gumbel / Dan Dierdorf)
Both games suck. Yipee.
We in the UK lucky enough to have Sky digital are getting Eagles-Saints as well. This has to be the first time in forever, or at least as long as I've been watching the NFL over here in England that the Eagles have been on so many times during the regular season.
Not only that, but they start selecting games for Sunday Night Football at the end of the month--if not the Philly-Jax game, I expect to see the Philly-Indy game picked for that.

Good. Fewer people will see the embarassment of a rookie QB beating the Eagles.

I dare not believe otherwise. The way they play and coach, this team could lose to anyone.

That may be the smallest geographic area I have ever seen for a birds game. hopefully no earthquake this weekend at the sportsbar. on second thought I didn't have to witness that performance in New Orleans due to the ensuing blackout.
Week 3 at SF was about the same. (Everyone else was watching NY/Seattle)
I always wonder how those people in the white spots on the map feel. They aren't even good enough to get Green Bay and Miami.

Well yea...but not here. Houston, Kansas City, Buffalo and Atlants all have CBS home games at 1. Thus no Fox game. The one in California makes no sense, they should be getting 2 fox games. Perhaps they haven't decided on which one yet?
As for Philly, it looks like our CBS opted not to compete with the Eagles game (even though they could) and will instead show Denver/Cleveland at 4. Skins at Colts, which shouldn't be much of a game, is at 4 on Fox.
No listings yet since it's a CBS game, but we're getting Gumbel/Dierdorf :-\
#1 1pm game then. CBS has the DH, I think it's Colts at Broncos. So a good portion of the country should get the game.
4pm game in Philly will be Rams at Chargers. Not bad, actually.

Wow, that a pretty friggin' limited market this week. I guess since the Steelers won a game everyone wants to watch them now.
Plus, we're encroaching on Steeler territory since the Eagles game is on CBS this week.
I know Harrisburg has a crappy policy with their CBS affiliate that when the Eagles and Steelers play at the same time on CBS they have to show Steelers games, even though Harrisburg is about 150 miles closer to Philadelphia than they are from Pittsburgh.

FWIW, the Harrisburg CBS affiliate put this up on their website:
Quote
PROGRAM NOTE:
WHP CBS 21 will air the Pittsburgh-Cleveland game this Sunday 11/19 at 1pm. WHP airs Pittsburgh Steeler games throughout the season. We have also committed to airing Steeler Pre-season games for the next five years. We have aired Steeler pre-season and regular season games for several years since CBS was awarded the AFC contract from the NFL.
The Philadelphia Eagles normally air on FOX, which has the NFC rights. When a NFC team hosts an AFC team, the game switches to CBS. When an AFC team hosts a NFC team, the game moves to FOX. This makes it difficult for CBS and FOX stations when there are conflicts. The local FOX station will always choose to air the Eagles because of the season long commitment and we at WHPCBS 21 will always choose the Steelers for the same reason. Thank you for understanding our predicament.
While it doesn't effect me, it does cause problems for friends and family who aren't going to the game. If I was stuck here, this would be yet another reason to hate Pittsburgh.
There's a reason Jesus Himself invented sports bars.
I get the game, I'm right on the line when CBS has Birds here in Lancaster.
