Today is like the draft all over again. It's a great day to strengthen the team and fill out the final roster for the season. While i'm still kind of pissed that they didn't give Stephen Davis the Vet's minimum, that the rams got him for, I'm hoping they can get a very servicable RB from a team who was too deep at RB. I also hope they can pick up a Veteran LB who can play either the Will or the Sam LB spot, until Gaither is ready. I guess they missed the boat on Cobb, the RB from NE who the steelers traded for yesterday. I think that spells the end for Duce in Pitt. "Big Chin" knows two things well: RB talent, and LB talent. If he traded for this kid Cobb, he must be pretty damn good.
Dude, Stephen Davis is D-O-N-E.
Watch him this season and you will see.

ok...then wheres the keg
Get Bush!
get ricky williams!
anyway i hope we land duce or some back who can be more of a power back. could use one of WRs released by detroit as a project. maybe a change of scenery and a winning attitude can whip them into shape. rogers?
No.

MR,
I have to ask - do you pay attention to what goes on in the NFL? Rogers is a bust and has an attitude problem. He is one piss test away from getting a one-year suspension.
Who do you cut to bring in Rogers? He doesn't cover kicks.
would you believe Pinky got picked up...by guess who......Vikes.
Do we have any more Eagles rejects than can use?
QuoteBroncos | Dayne told he's been cut
Sat, 2 Sep 2006 11:53:38 -0700
The Associated Press reports Denver Broncos RB Ron Dayne has been told he's been cut by the team. "I kind of understand. Once I got hurt, the other guys stepped up," said Dayne, who began training camp as the starting running back, but quickly was surpassed by undrafted rookie RB Mike Bell and then suffered turf toe in the preseason opener and didn't play again.

I might consider taking a chance on Dayne, but instead of who, Moats?
Darius Watts(WR) gone from Denver too.
Keep Tapeh, dump Perry and Parry. Then we have our big back, with Cole as the SYFB.
Moe Williams was released from the Rams.
Dayne has good size, but plays smaller because he constantly stands up in the hole...I've never been a big fan.
If they are going after a goal-line RB on waivers today, I'd consider Antowain Smith for size, although he's pretty old for a RB...cut by the Texans yesterday. Cole leading for Smith would be a pretty impressive amount of beef on the goal line.
Bruce Perry really tailed off the second half of preseason, and didn't do much to earn a roster spot. Shame, he looked good last season at times and when we saw him at the beginning of camp.
Antowain Smith is intreging but does the guy have anything left? Dayne??? But he is injured.

yes i do follow the nfl. i know he has been a bust but i wanted to see if he can rebound on a diff team. i saw him make some amazing catches his first yr and with the situation in det i get the feeling that a player could do better maybe if starting over somewhere else. its a long shot and with the roster spots we have left to fill i doubt it, but if we had the luxury of getting him i wouldnt mind.
doesnt stallworth have a attitude problem also? a lot of these grown men are bitches but its not like rogers is TO.
Rogers is still very talented, but I don't see where he fits on this team. He'll land somewhere I'm sure. I don't think his career has been Freddie Mitchelled.
What's Stallworth's attitude problem, he doesnt like playing for the Saints? Please.
Rogers has broken his collarbone twice. He has been caught with drugs in his systems plenty times, one more time and he'll be suspended like drunken Koren. He's lazy. He doesnt give full effort. He lacks any concentration whatsoever, so he drops tons of balls.
I'd rather have Rogers than Dayne, and I don't want Rogers at all.
Please no Dayne. He is so awful.

Aww, Bunkley with an unintentional pun.
I didnt even realize that, nice catch.
The Packers released 4th round pick, WR/RS Cory Rodgers. He is one hell of a returner, and I would love to have him over Greggie. Rodgers isnt real fast, probably a tiny bit slower than Reggie Brown, but has real good acceleration and makes good cuts.
Yeah, let's drop Greg Lewis so the team has literally one WR that was with the team last year and 2 with NFL experience. That's a super idea, except for the fact that it totally sucks.
After posting it, it does seem like a stupid idea. Lewis is a good #3/#4. Would it make you feel better if I said cut Mahe or Perry?
Keith Adams was cut. Bring him back for special teams and cut Short?
Why don't we just get rid of Mahe or Perry and pick up Davenport and call it a day?

Perry. And yes.
You almost have to feel sorry for Gaffney. He went from being an assumed starter to fodder on a team that was desperate for receivers.
Watch Lito be a whiny bitch all year now also.
P.S. Does PG still have Gaffney starting on her CFFFL NFC team?
Recap of the names who are out there and could peak interest:
Najeh Davenport
Willie Ponder
Keith Adams
Edell Shepherd(Bucs)
Quincy Morgan
Tyrone Calico
Lee Suggs(being the least likely of them all)
The mad pooper and "the bullet" mildly interest me. Otherwise, no.
Morgan I put because he was a solid return man for Pitt last season. Same with Ponder for the Giants. Edell Shepherd and Calico are young, but aren't very good, so you can probably scratch them off.
Bruce Perry's return stats compared to Ponder and Morgan:
Year Team G No Yards Avg Lg TD 40+
2005 Philadelphia Eagles 2 10 273 27.3 49 0 1
Willie Ponder's return stats:
2004 New York Giants 11 36 967 26.9 91 1 1
2005 New York Giants 11 35 905 25.9 95 1 3
Quincy Morgan's return stats:
2005 Pittsburgh Steelers 16 23 583 25.3 74 0 2
They all average around the same per return, but Ponder has taken one to the house in the last 2 seasons.
Ron Dayne is a fargin dog. Woof, woof.
Bring in Najeh Davenpoop. Cut Reno.
I haven't looked at all the cuts yet so there are likely some more. At least that farg Parry is gone.
The fact that Greg Lewis still has a job is fargin terrible.
Greg Lewis is not that bad. He's better than McCants, and he's better than Gaffney. I know everyone hates him for that Seattle game last year, but he is not a starter, nor will he be this year. He's the 4th receiver. He's fine as a 4th receiver.
This Greg Lewis bashing is out of control.
Not just the SEA game.
Almost every game. He has zero ability to win battles for deep balls. He does not fight for the ball. He doesn't come back to the ball well.
He was good on STs and as a 4th WR. But McCants is better.

I guess we'll just agree to disagree. I think McCants is better on ST, but Lewis is a little bit better of a receiver. If we kept McCants, I wouldn't have complained, but IMO, it's better to have someone who's been in the offense as long as Lewis.

Yeah... he is done carrying the rock 200+ times a year, But he would sure be nice to have on short yardage and goal line situations. He has always had a nose for the endzone, and would command respect from the opposing defense in those type situations. My next choice would be "poop man."
The fact that Andy cut both McCant's and Gaffney, suggest that they aren't done with this roster. I liked McCant's on ST as well. It's a shame JR Reed jumped that fence, and ruined his career. What he did in coming back was remarkable, but he is a half step slow now. He just doesn't look the same on KR duties...which is why they kept Perry, who is actually a decent KR.
GOODBYE Josh Parry! I been waiting for his departure for two years. He had to be the worst lead blocking FB in the league. Most of the time as the lead blocker, he was always missing the dangerous man, and trying to block at the second level, instead of the POA. Good riddens!
QB Mike McMahon cut by MIN..... :-D

When I saw that I was trying to think how he could go from looking pretty good with the Lions a few years ago to not even being able to make the Vikings squad.
Then I realized the only reason he looked good when he was playing for the Lions is because he was playing for the Lions.

You almost have to feel sorry for Gaffney. He went from being an assumed starter to fodder on a team that was desperate for receivers.
I remember a game last year on Sunday night when the Texans were playing. Bob Trumpy the color man on the radio was ripping Gaffney a second butt-hole. Was about one second away from calling him a Hoyda. Wouldn't go over the middle, hesitant, lethargic. Another first round WR bust. I thought he just wanted out of Houston and would come here with something to prove. Guess not.

I thought the Birds would at least bring a few guys in for at least a look see.
I thought Davenport especially would have come in for a work out. Surprised to see zero teams taking any interest in that guy.
Down here in D.C I don't get much info on the Birds anyways, anything going on in the media up there about someone they may be looking at?
