Title: Eagles contact AJ Feeley
Post by: The BIGSTUD on August 29, 2006, 08:47:16 PM
Forgot to post this earlier, but I was watching CSN, and Derrick Gunn reported that both the Eagles and Vikings have contacted Feeley for a backup job.

I know a lot of you wanted him, including myself, so good news I guess.

Did they conclude that Timmy Chang couldn't see anything?

I would think he would go to Minnesota if he wants a better chance at playing.

Don Ho is not going to be happy about this.

people seriously want AJ back?  we got lucky, he played a few good games for us and we were able to steal a draft pick for getting rid of him, he went on to prove he's not a good QB, so we should look for him to come back and be our #3?

Because he's better than Chang or Detmer

when did he prove he wasn't a good QB?  when he played with a garbage team that had no offensive line and a terrible coach?

he proved he can be effective when surrounded with a good supporting cast.

A.J. is not a great QB and maybe not a good one.  But he's easily better than these guys:

McMahon
Detmer
Chang

i'd say when he couldn't hold onto the #3 spot at SD, or when he started 8 games and managed 15 INTs and 11 TDs.

i was happy when he was here and doing OK, i was even happier when we were able to trade him and actually get something.  i know we had an entire stadium calling for him to start over donovan for the season after he started those 5 games for us, but i also know that i'd rather see if someone gets released that maybe has some upside potential since we already know that AJ doesn't.

A.J. was obviously a "system" QB.  I have no delusions about him ever being anything but a decent backup.

But seriously, have you seen Detmer this pre-season?  Have you seen anything from Chang that leads you to believe he really has any upside whatsoever?

If the Eagles wanted a 3rd QB with upside, they would have drafted one.  So, I just want them to have a 3rd QB that gives the team a slight chance of winning a few games if he has to come in.  Right now, they certainly do not have that on their roster, and A.J. would be a great solution.

Plus, Garcia's only on a one-year deal and is 36 years old.  The Eagles could still draft a QB next year to groom and keep A.J. as the backup, if they so choose.  It's a good situation for all parties involved.

GET FEELEY.

:-D Imagine a scouting report.

"Does not have great field vision due to lack of eye size..."
