Title: Ok, Who Is The Veteran LB Who Can Play STs?
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on August 29, 2006, 01:51:15 AM
Spads:

QuoteWouldn't surprise me to see the Eagles pick up a veteran LB who can play special teams. We'll see.

Any guesses?

Simoneau, once the Saints realize they made a terrible mistake.

Levon Kirkland.

In all honestly, I don't know. I'm still hoping Emmons gets cut from NY and he comes back here to replace Dhani. Then he can bring his air guitar to special teams.

from Dave's description I would guess that we will see a role player added. I doubt Emmons, although being a veteran and a guy who can plays on STs, would be that guy. I'd like it though. But he just returned to practice yesterday after missing 26 days with a stinger

And I also would guess that this means that;

a. Gocong will end up on IR
b. Daniels will be released and they hope he goes to the PS

Trotter
McCoy
Jones
Barber
Gaither
Roper

So they need a 7th LB...

Will they move Short back to LB from DE?

I predicted in the 53 man roster than Gocong would go on IR and Daniels wouldn't make the team, so that wouldn't surprise me.

Short's done, IMO.

A poster on PhilaPhans brought up Keith Adams...

My thought?

He was allowed to test the market for the second straight year and it wasn't what he thought it would be. CAR offered him a shot to win a job and he couldn't beat out Na'il Diggs. Now Diggs sprained his knee last week so Adams' availability will depend on that.

But he now knows he is not a starting LB in this league. His play last year proved it and the level of interest around the NFL confirmed it.

But he is one helluva STs player.

I'd take him back on STs

What if they somehow managed to go out and get an upgrade to Dhani?           :paranoid

If he is, ATL has kept it mighty quiet. No whispers about him losing his job. But I would take Ike back with a quickness..

Maybe Barber plays ST?

Barber has been playing on KOR, KO and P coverages, Pat.

Short going back to SAM means he'll be the 7th LB.

I like Short getting a spot.  He's a great guy on special teams.  Every team needs a psycho.

He also said that for a rookie... Gaither is coming along extremely well.  Still makes some mistakes, but he's very happy with his progress.

Yeah, trading Sim probably secured JS a roster spot

I work with a guy who played HS ball with Short back in Michigan.  He said he was a madman way back then.  He'll be happy to know that Short has a pretty good shot of sticking around.

short was very upset that mark was traded.  the question now is...how will he respond to the added pressure to make the team now going back to lb?
