Title: Things you'll be looking for against the Steelers
Post by: The BIGSTUD on August 24, 2006, 06:58:58 PM
This is the most important preseason game of them all. This game is going to decide quite a few jobs and maybe even some roster movies.

1. Buckhalter's play. I want to see if he can make it 2 quarters with those knees. It will have a big impact on what they do at RB.

2. Pinkston's play. Will he be able to run around without reaggravating his achilles? This could have a big impact on what they do at receiver.

3. Bunkley in the starting lineup. How much better will they look with this monster in there instead of Rayburn?

4. It's small, but Dirk Johnson is going to be holding the whole game. I'm going to be looking to see if Akers misses any field goals or if there are any fumbled holds. This could have an impact on whether or not Detmer makes the team.

5. The WRs. I want to see Baskett make some more plays out there. If this team decides not to bring in another WR, I'm going to have to be more comfortable about an UDFA starting.

The most important thing I'd like to see in the Eagles v. Steelers matchup is the actual game! :boom

The only thing I ever actually wish for a pre season "game" is NO INJURIES.  The rest is fluff.

I just want to see how they do against another very physical team.  I don't want to see the starting D get pushed around.  I also would like to see how the offense moves the ball against a good defense.  The WRs should be able to get open if the line can provide some protection.

Because he is so unproven you need to use a preseason game to gauge his value?

has anyone flew jetblue lately?

i'm going to vegas tonight and someone told me that they have direct tv on the plane and individual TVs on each seat.  which means i'll probably get to watch the game on the plane tonight.

Duce gets released at halftime. Pittsburgh Steeler in the 1st half - Philadelphia Eagles in the 2nd.

I would have agreed with you last week, but now that it's obvious that there is zero chance the Eagles will add from outside the current team to improve the WR's for this year, I actually am behind Pinkston's recovery 100%.

Yes.  Actually holding out any shred of hope that Pinkston will even regain his previous form is Desperate.

(capital D intended)

I'm not sure which is worse. Hoping Pinkston recovers or thinking Duce can help us out at RB. Then again, I'm still saving up for my Tapeh jersey.

Agreed on Pinky.

They need him to be healthy and ready to help.

He'll have so much tape on his ankles that the tape will be thicker than his calf muscles.

Yeah, but just wrapped it twice around would do that.

As for what I'm looking for... the WR's to fall flat on their faces so Andy and the boys have no excuse not to seriously make a run at Branch.

wait i still dont understand the FO is so cheap it didnt want to buy Concrete Charlies book yet they will gladly pay a mil for Detmer to put a football on the tip of his finger maybe 6 times a game. What a load of shtein. NECKBEARD DOESNT DESERVE A ROSTER SPOT.
