QuoteRookie linebacker Chad Greenway, the Vikings' first-round pick in the NFL draft, left the game in the first quarter because of an injury to his left knee. Greenway will have an MRI this morning, and indications Monday night were that it could be a season-ending tear to his anterior cruciate ligament.
Coach Brad Childress said the Vikings will "reserve judgment" until the results of the MRI come back.
Greenway wore a brace on his knee and had an obvious limp as he left the Vikings locker room. He said he wasn't sure he had a torn ligament.
"I haven't had anything done," he said. "I just know the coaches brought me off just to get me off the field. Right now it's up to the trainers, and hopefully I get back on the field as soon as possible. I don't know what it is right now."
Greenway was injured covering a kickoff with 4 minutes, 10 seconds left in the first quarter. He appeared to twist his knee awkwardly as an Oakland player blocked him.
Greenway hobbled off the field and was examined on the sideline before walking to the Vikings locker room. Many times an injured player will return to the sideline, but Greenway never reappeared.
"I just planted, and something kind of just happened where I twisted me knee," Greenway said. "I don't know exactly what happened."
White linebackers suck.
I'm talking to someone last night, Greenway comes up, and douchebag goes "Well, it's a good thing the Eagles didn't draft him!!".
Yeah, because he would've been participating in that play if he'd been with the Eagles you farging idiot
His fate was already sealed.
Duh.
bunkley>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>greenway x infinity
You wouldn't be saying that if Greenway was black.
or if he didnt suck....hes as bama as one can get......i laugh at his pick
I'm just fargin with ya... kinda tough to think much of any other pick when we got what looks to be a beast in Bunkley.
Greenway is basically Mark Simoneau, but taller. I've said this all along.
He's got great instincts, and he'll be around the ball all the time, but he needs to get stronger and develop a mean streak if he ever wants to be more than a semi-starter journeyman in the NFL.
Greenway can cover a hell of a lot better than Simoneau, though. And he can actually hit hard.
Not now he can't.
