It's Reno time.
I'm missing Gus Johnson do an Eagles game? Damnit. I can't wait 'till he announces the Jets/Eagles game in a few weeks when Timmy Chang plays the entire second half.
I can't wait to hear Jaworski's insight on how Reno Mahe has gone from cast-off to running with the 1's!
I'll be taking my nephew to the game in just a little while. If the site goes down while I'm away, don't IM me about it. Thanks in advance. :)

Seriously though,
Mike Bartrum will not play tonight. Hank Fraley will be the long snapper.
Bartrum suffered such a severe case of acid refulx today that they actually thought it was a heart attack briefly

I'll be tuned in to the GameCenter applet, posting here. Joy for you.
3rd and inches? Please run.
3 runs out of 4 plays so far... farging amazing.
Baskett got the first pass call. Kid is getting his chance, that's for sure.
If this drive goes for a score, does Reid pull McNabb?
Well, Baskett seems to have something. 33 yard catch will do nicely, thanks.
Baskett down to the 2. 34 yard pass. Apparently sweet throw/catch.
absolutely....reid said a quarter and a half..even if it doesnt go that long its going more than one posession for sure
Mahe blew the score. Damn it. shteincan his ass! :D

i missed the whole opening defensive series and everything up to this timeout
quick recap??
Sloppy play all around. Dirk was lucky to get the punt off at all. Reggie managed to TWO flags called against him on the same play.
what happened on defense tho after the eagles fg
Sheppard with a big hit on Jerevicius and hurts himself...

Both have already gotten up slowly this game...
That's what I'm sayin'
I thought Jurevicious retired?
No. His son died. Or something.
Nice to hear that Kearse is putting some heat on the QB. Also nice to hear that Lito is back in.
I really think Kearse has a legit chance to get back into double digit sacks this year if he stays healthy.
3rd down pass rush should look like: Kearse, Bunkley, Howard, Cole.
Sick.
Garcia sacked on his 1st snap. Facemask called though... 1st down.
Wow...this audio is on a huge delay.
McNabb 7/9 78 yds :yay
Garcia sacked on his 2nd snap.
From the double TE set, no less.
worst game ever
Mahe with a concussion and Jackson with an ankle injury.
Please stay healthy Donovan.

Yeah it is... even the GameCenter is updating faster.
So when do they start having walk-on tryouts to finish the preseason?
I am glad to here that McNabb continues to look sharp. Mahe getting a concussion adds more concern to the RB position, they need to figure out something.
If they had a few less commercials the radio feed might be synched a bit better.
Howard is gonna register a sack in a moment on the audio.
I can see the future!!
I predict an offensive holding call next!
Sure sounds like Howard is a beast.
I'm happy to get on the Howard bandwagon.
There was a safety in the STL-IND game just now. Ha.
Jackson is back in. That's good news.
Yeah Peyton got blasted on that play.
Jackson got blasted too just a bit ago. Dropped a pass.

Pollyanna.
At this point, WHO'S running the football? Andy Reid?
Davis. He's been a real wonder in camp.
McDougle with the sack!!
Wow, it sounds like I've been missing a great game.
So, we have no running backs left basically? Super.

Which is better than having Mahe.
Gotta go pick the old lady up from the train station. She owes me a blow job for this.
Mahe is out too. He has a concussion.
McDougle has been close twice tonight and finally use a nice dip move and gets him one.
Sloppy game thusfar, as you all know. Several of the penalties have been garbage though.
Is Andy gonna win this replay? First "down on contact" challenge.
Can't see it so no idea...
We keep the ball.
Touchdown McCants!
Was it pretty?
Very.
32 yards... McCants had his guy by a couple steps, Garcia hit him in stride right in the hands. :yay
Sounds like he finally had a drive where he wasn't being complete shtein for a change. Good for him...
From what I have seen/heard McCants has had himself a nice camp and preseason, lastweek he was phenomonal on special teams. Does he take G. Lew's spot?
I don't know that is why I am asking.
Ramsey nets $300 bucks for some charity on behalf of some bank. I forget who. Maybe I'd remember if they donate $3,000.
Garcia with back to back nice throws to Avant and McCants.
Touchdown Tapeh!
EDIT: Jean-Gilles doing a great job of getting to the 2nd level and blowing up the LB and clearing the way for Tapeh.
GF is telling his nephew how smart he is for liking Tapeh.
Whoever the announcer is, he's creaming all over this kicker. Jesus farg!
Chang is in.
Omar Gaither with a nice INT.
He led in tackles in the HOF game.
From the sounds of it, the Eagles seem to have another good draft on their hands, this guy's name is constantly being called.
The back up kicker gets some.
Not yet. Game's on. I won't be interrupted again.

No shutout... 20-7.
so far the only injury has been mahe?
The depth was impressive (sans most of the second period) tonight. Hope they keep up. The roster this year should be really interesting. Later all.
Yeah, bed time.
Positives:
- Darren Howard and the d-line again, and just the overall defense
- Bunkley got great push even if it was against 2nd and 3rd stringers. He's gonna be a stud.
- Offensive line. Not just first team, but second as well. Garcia had a lot more time to throw and they blocked well and created running lanes. Winston Justice and Max Jean Gilles played well.
- Jason Davis played well. Made some nice runs
- Baskett and McCants played pretty good tonight
- JR Reed making hits all over the place again tonight
- Garcia looked good tonight after a slow start
- Gaither with a nice INT
Negatives:
- Who was long snapper tonight for Bartrum? Andy said it would be Fraley, but it didn't look like him from the replays. Whoever it was, he sucked.
- Too many penalties
- Dexter Wynn, stupid penalty
- Hanson didn't stand out like he did in the HoF Game. Wasn't bad, just didn't notice him making plays
- Matt Clark just got blown up on one play
how did reggie brown do?
Didn't catch a pass. Didn't even notice him. Not necessarily a bad thing. They probably didn't call his number. Most likely wanting to see what Baskett, Avant, and Gaffney are made of. LJ caught a few balls though.
I heart Tapeh.
I know this gets overdone, but anyone care to caption the photo?

So, Romeo... how about Fraley and a 7th rounder for that Braylon Edwards?
Just got back, some notes:
-worst traffic ever
-the security checks before the game were slow and absurd
Onto the game:
- Ramsey looked like a stud
- Howard is a beast
- Bunkley looked good for only having a few days of camp, he sheds blocks well and has a quick inside move
- Baskett, love him
- McDougle had a solid game
- Dexter Wynn...why are you here?
- Gaffney...meh.
once I sober up in the morning I'm sure more stuff will come to mind.
The replay is on NFL Network right now. It's the Eagles' version of the broadcast now. They'll probably do the Browns' version for the 2nd half...
- Black jerseys are as popular as green and more popular than white or pink.
- I'm still the only owner of a Andrews jersey.
- Akers is ready for the season
- I spent more time explaining the game to my nephew than watching it. I think my investment in the future was wise.
- The runningbacks need more padding in their helmets.
- Has anyone seen a man named Gaffney?
Reggie Brown had two penalties on the TE screen to LJ. OPI and blocking in the back. The blocking in the back was stupid because LJ was already past him when he pushed the guy.
Marty Johnson ran very well considering the circumstances. Him, Davis and Tapeh all ran hard.
Andy called 39 runs out of 63 total plays.
Fraley was the LS until the 4th qrtr when Spach was snapping.
That's right. Forgot about those penalties.
Reid still doesn't run the ball enough.

listen Rome...I cant tell you how to eat, but what I do know is its all about portions. Portion control is key
Gaffney was a no show again?
No. And I didn't see Gafny either.
Gaphni made one catch.
Who's Daphne? Is she hot?
She's the one that always goes off with Fred while the stoner and the dog solve everything with the help of that nerdy chick.
I'd hit it.
So Fred nails her while the others do the work.
Good job Fred! Be lazy and get the kitty. :yay
Phreak, you really do have special powers. I posted my post after yours (look at the time), but somehow, it showed up ontop of your post. Bravo sir.
Will Greg Lewis make the team? He's done zero this preseason.
Eagles | Reid says Bunkley did OK
Thu, 10 Aug 2006 22:16:24 -0700
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said Eagles rookie DT Brodrick Bunkley played OK in the team's preseason game Thursday, Aug. 10. "I thought he did ok. A little bit rusty, but he only practiced one day. He will be ok," said Reid after the game.
Anything anyone saw that was bad? If he played well Andy would've said he did a good job. I'm guessing Andy saw a few things he didn't like.
I think you're overanalyzing.
He did OK = good job in Andy Reid
Will Greg Lewis make the team?
will jabar gaffney?
I think Reid said "ok" because he is still pissed about the hold out and doesnt want to admit that a rookie player could hold out for that long and still play good in his first ever game.
I think Reid said "ok" because he is still pissed about the hold out and doesnt want to admit that a rookie player could hold out for that long and still play good in his first ever game.
post of the week
reid would look like dope to say he played real well after all the trash talk by the eagle front office about how bunkley is really hurting himself with the holdout and they arent sure how he will catch up ect....
it also would negate the front offices attacks next time a player dares not accept the teams contract
frankly im surprised reid played him at all
I just finished watching the first-teamers' portion of the game.
Running the ball on offense looked poor, but I can't blame that on anyone except the lack of depth at running back. Donovan does look a lot more accurate, though.
The D looked a little bit shaky stopping Droughns and the first-string running "attack" of the Browns, but they were flying to the ball and hurting people (including themselves) on the pass plays.
Jeff Garcia still looks bad so far. Really bad.

i think garcia is one of the better back-ups in the nfl...i chuckled at everyone burying him after last weeks game....the one thing he cant do is throw deep which is the eagles dont have in their arsenal anyway...if hes needed this year i have confidence in him to definitely not let the team implode ala last year but also to be able to win a game
Quote from: ice grillin you on August 11, 2006, 09:48:12 AM

ain't that the truth. i was thinking about how the offense will play out this year. and i think if Donovan stays healthy, they will be productive. but it's going to be circa 2003 when 70% of their scoring drives will have to be 8+ plays of almost perfect execution, 20% will come from a short field provided by defense/special teams and maybe they will have a few big scoring plays.

agree sir. Im still impressed with his dropback motion and the way he steps up in the pocket.
yeah, he might have some happy feet back there, but as the season progresses, Im sure the timing and feel with his receivers will come more fluently
Garcia will be fine, he just gets happy feet early in the game and doesn't make his reads. Once he settles down he's a decent backup. He's been that way most of his career.
so our WRs for opening day are: Brown, Baskett, McCants, Glew, ?, ?
sounds like donovan with the happy feet and anxious early in games.

Bloom
I wouldnt count on Bloom being on IR.
I'm watching the game again on the tivo, and I noticed something that makes me shake my head. For every interception Dawkins makes, the Official Ice Cream of the Philadelphia Eagles is going to donate a years supply of ice cream to one kid, and $1000 to juvenile diabetes research.
That should cover costs for the first three months supply of insulin for the winner.
I saw that too.
The first thing that entered my mind when I saw Dawkins pimping ice cream was "cognitive dissonance."
Considering the fact that Dawkins is a fanatic about nutrition and exercise, I highly doubt he digs on ice cream, but since it's for charity, who cares, anyway?
He's a nutrition freak that eats Fruity Pebbles for breakfast.
Dawkins' kids probably eat ice cream, though.

He's got to do something to feed his family after signing that terrible contract extension.

Huh. Most 15 year olds I know want coke, Hoyda, and gunplay or it's a lame night.
He's only 8.
looking at the depth chart....avant has surpassed gaffney? how? is that how bad gaffney has looked?
I just finished watching the 3rd quarter. Interesting that NFLN showed the first half in Philly's coverage ("ETN") and the 2nd half with the Browns' local toolboxes.
The Browns' backups are zesty, but Garcia did look to settle down a bit in the 3rd quarter. Good.
the 2nd half on ETN was classic. Jaws was openly mocking the Browns offense. good times.
