As has been mentioned elsewhere, I won't see this game. I'm probably not the only one..some folks might be working or otherwise unable to see it.
I would greatly appreciate any comments from people who are watching. I'll be watching the ESPN.com stats, or the NFL.com stats..whatever live thing is available, if any.
Eagles wearing white/white combo tonight
McNabb is wearing long black sleeves
i dont like the white on white.
i need to see more of the midnight green.
Won't see that until October probably. They always wear white early in the season (when they can)
Jade McCarthy on NBC 10 is hot.

For temperature reasons alone, no doubt.

I went into as much detail as I could without being considered a stalker in the latest report I put up. I saw a ton of fine ladies up there. There is one girl from Action News who wears no panties. I checked her out long enough and close enough to see no panty line. She had one of those butts where you couldn'y help looking. I think it talked to me and said "Yo, check this out".
Here are the things I want to see in order of importance tonight:
- No injuries
- Reggie Brown working well against starting corners
- A serious dose of running plays
- Matt McCoy, playing well through trash, getting off blocks and getting to the ball
- Hank Baskett, all hype? Hope he does well.
- Buckhalter, how will he look when people start hitting at full speed? How much action will he see?
- Tapeh, putting in a good showing, speeding up the end to the Parry era.
- Defensive line dominating, Aaron Brooks and the backups on their butts all night
- Young O-lineman, Gilles, Justice, Manneans, Young, etc., looking decent against the Raiders second team
- Avant. The guy intrigues me. Want to see him work against NFL-type DBs.
- Matt Schobel. I know Reid won't tip his hand, but I would like to see Westy in the backfield, Brown on the outside, with L.J and the Scho-boat in a two TE set. It'll be interesting to see how the Raiders cover everyone.
- JR Reed and Perry on Punts/Kickoffs. Also can't wait to see Perry running the ball. Want to see him flatten a Raider LB or two.
No matter what else happens, I'll be happy if your first bullet pans out.
I can't find a live stat/play by play thing. NFL doesn't have their normal thing up, you can't get anything from PE.com, ESPN has only a basic scoreboard up, etc.
Gametime.
Get the rabbit ears and tinfoil out, dio. Its on NBC so you should be able to pick it up.
BDawk and Trotter getting them fired up.
JR Reed is the starting KOR.
IT'S TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nix that. NFL just put their Gamecenter thing up. Nice.
wooooo
football, ahhhhhh
Time to tap the vein. Remembered a bullet just now when they showed Moss warming up:
- No catches for Randy Moss
Crack open a brew it is football time baby! :crazy
Good to read that Akers kicked well, and that coverage kept them short of the 20.
Can't complain about the defensive line so far.
So far so good. Nice kick, nice containment. Nothing on the first down run, penalty on the Raiders, negative yards on the second and third down attempts. Walker, Kearse, and Howard contributing.
Was that McCoy in on the first play?
Holy shtein. Only one series but the defensive line owned! Wow. McCoy flying around the ball, too. Kearse and Howard were in the backfield on all three plays.
Defense got good penetration.
Oakland doesnt look very interested in playing today.
Westbrook runs for 15 on his first touch. :yay

Why couldn't we get a picture of that butt instead of Trotter's, MUSSA?
Westbrook running hard in the early going. 6 more on that last one.
Two consecutive runs than a catch by Baskett, not a bad start to the game.
Baskett catches the first thing thrown his way. I suppose he's a lock for the HOF.
7 yards to Reggie.

Absolutely!
14 yard pass to Westbrook.
And Westbrook takes it inside the 5.
Westbrook is single-handedly shredding the Raiders D.
Sounds like everyone looks good so far.
TD Westbrook!!
Nice drive
Okay, time to pull the starters.
Great first drive even for Preaseason. The O line's mauling. Andrews blew a huge hole on one play. Liking it so far for pure vanilla.

On those running plays the line was blowing the Raiders off the ball. It looks like the Raiders are asleep.

Agreed, the interior of the line looked great on that series.
Baskett...hall of fame
Eagles looked really good on that drive. Hard to believe that it was the first drive of the preseason.
Hank Fraley was in as an extra OL on that play. They ran behind Andrews, Runyan, Fraley and Smith. :yay
Darren Howard looked great on defense and Trotter was blowin shtein up.
It can only go down from here.

Wow. I know it's only a preseason game, but man, the drive was awesome, and fast.
Now for more D, which I really want to see.
I should be a rapper, boyee.
Dio, you can get the audio gamecast through PE.com using the 7 day trial. Just remember to cancel it.
Hate to be a Negadelphian... but as good as both lines have looked they are going up against two of the worst offensive and defensive lines.

Good thinking. They didn't really have anything else to prove out there today.
What the hell kinda throw was that? lol
McCants had nice coverage on ST there, according to the numbers. Tackle for negative one on the punt return.
Who's in for Defense?
The B team, I gather:
Quote1-10-OAK 25 (4:15) L.Jordan left tackle to OAK 34 for 9 yards (J.Reed).
2-1-OAK 34 (4:15) L.Jordan left end to OAK 34 for no gain (J.Avant). ?????
3-1-OAK 34 (4:15) L.Jordan left tackle to OAK 37 for 3 yards (M.Simoneau).
Hood with the pickle.
Nice pick... that was thrown up for grabs.
Interception by Hood. It's the second team in for D.
Mahe gains 17.
Nice cut by Mahe for a good gain.
Did Avant play D??
Garthia throws a pick.
Zesty throw by Garcia + Gaffney falls.
Was Garcia this bad in practice? He's sucking so far.

It's tough to figure out who's out there at any given time, because Al Michaels and Madden aren't really calling names. They are basically just talking about the Hall of Fame. Maybe someone with HDTV can read the jersey numbers better than I can.
Garcia = teh suk
Rayburn showed up on that play, I see.
Oakland very pleased with being able to run LaMont Jordan over our second-team defense.
Glad they scored. For a few minutes I was concerned they might not put one in all night. Now we can see how Reed looks on a kick off.
Anyone else see Considine getting blown off the line several times on that drive? :-\
Reed didn't look like his explosive best there. Didn't look like an injured guy though either. We'll have to wait and see more.
Mahe's putting on a one-man show today. He's the whole offense right now.
Garcia struggles.

Lewis w/the catch but out of bounds.
so far:
13 passing attempts
14 rushing attempts
I've always liked Bartrum. I wonder if this pre-season is the last I'll see of him.
Dexter Wynn nailed for facemask.
Good play by whitebread McCoy
Omar made a big mistake there. Left Fargas wide open trying to grab Walter.

Darren Howard looks great.
Seeing Reed out there looks like he hasnt missed a beat.
Winston Justice, first penalty of the season.

Eagles 1st team on defense and offense kicked ass.
McCoy looked really good. Flew around the entire field.
Dexter Wynn sucks. Missed tackles, blown coverages, stupid penalties. He was drafted as a RS but sucks at that so he should be gone.
JR Reed seems 100%. :yay
Also, it's kind of good and bad at the same time that AR took out Baskett after the first drive. He made it seem like he was a good starter that he couldnt afford to lose. We didnt see anything of him though.

Dio,
NFL.com's gamecenter gets screwed up sometime. Avant was not on defense. Whoever was running it probably saw Dexter Wynn's 31 and mistook it for 81. I've seen them credit QBs with tackles on there before.

farging Collinsworth is in spin mode already.
Pre-game (paraphrasing): "Donovan McNabb wanted T.O. off this team. Sometimes you've got to be careful what you wish for because when you look at this receiving corps, blah, blah, blah..."

Yeah they have shown it a couple times. Helmet to helmet. He flexed his right hand and leg afterward, the left side wasn't moving.

He moved his legs and arms and when he tried to get up he just couldn't do it. I hope its just a bad stinger. He gives the thumbs up but they are taking him right to the ambulance.
So he's off the field?
1:14 to go, guys. Let's try not to kill anyone.
Game back on. Chang can't throw on the run.
Chang gets picked off. 29 seconds left. It's over.
Good job, Timmy.
INT.
Game over.
Concussion for Perry.
That's game. Good night.
Perry: Concussion, lost all feeling in arms and legs, but it returned quickly.
Anyone catch Tank Daniels out there making plays? He's a guy who I really like.
Mahe was good but he needs to stop the goddamn juking and shaking so much. He does it even when he doesn't have to sometimes.
news: the backups are brutal
i know you're shocked by this sudden development...
Did anyone else catch Collinsworth's analysis of the Eagles?
To paraphrase... "well, if they lose their starters, they have no hope... they have no depth!!11111"
Thanks, Cris. Thanks for that insightful comment that applies to about 31 out of 32 teams in the NFL in the salary cap era.
fargin douchebag. :-D
Anyway, I thought the first team defense looked great and the first team offense looked unstoppable. I know it's the Raiders and all but they definitely looked great.
IGY's boy looked like he was ready to eat lightning and crap thunder out there. Very nice performance by the Killa.
I thought Morningwood did a nice job mixing up the runs and passes as well. I thought Mahe looked good in the backup role and I love JR Reed's Dawkins impersonation too.
Overall, I was pleased with the game even though there were way too many turnovers and both Detmer & Chang looked utterly hopeless out there.
Yep, Daniels played well. Made hits, tackles, and good in coverage. Can't remember if he got a pick or not.
Positives:
First team offense and defense. Especially defensive line. Howard was a beast.
Second and 3rd team defenses weren't too bad either.
Negatives:
Second and 3rd team offensive line.
Bruce Perry disappointed although he had no blocking.
Garcia, Detmer, and Chang sucked. Although they had no blocking either.
I don't know what to make of Gaffney. Did he dog it on that play or did he simply fall?
Phreak... that's "shuckin' & jivin."
;)
Phreak is fixin for a decent RB
Oh and another negative was Dexter Wynn. He was awful.
I actually heard someone say the word 'fixin' tonight.
Some friends of mine were heading out to a birthday party and one of the girls turned to me and said "we're fixin' to leave now, you comin' with?"
Kill me now, please.
:-D

Agreed. He was awful.
I hate when people say come with. If you are going to take the "me" out of that sentence, then why not just take with "with" out of it too, and say are you going to come?

You shoulda said something like "I reckon."
Some more thoughts:
It's hard to make out Matt McCoy's performance because he got blown up on some plays, but other times he made solid tackles and made plays.
Also, I wouldn't worry about the RBs just yet. If Bruce Perry isn't messed up too bad and is ready for the regular season, then he should run just fine behind the first team offensive line. He had no holes to run through. The 3rd team line was just awful. But those fumbles have got to go. He's worse than LJ Smith. This isn't a new thing either, he did it last year too.
We do need help at receiver though, not like this is breaking news. It tells you something when Andy takes Baskett out with the first team. I think Lelie or some other receiver will be here by the end of this week.
actually i liked what collinsworth had to say. he did say that we have too much talent and we are too well coached to not turn it around and he thinks we are going to be fine. i didnt catch the whole thing he was saying but overall he was very positive on the eagles but yeah our reserves looked terrible, esp at qb.
ESPN headline:
QuoteEagles extend Dawkins | Lose to Raiders; pick hurt
a pick from 2 years ago, yeah
You obviously missed the last bit of his comments.
Anyone can see that the Eagles are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball. But he just had to turn around and backhand them with the depth comment.
Like I said... he's a fricken douchebag.
I wish I felt confident in Westbrook lasting an entire season without injury, because he looked rather good out there.
Also, am I the only one who roots for backups to knock themselves out with gruesome, NC-17, injuries in preseason games? I mean, something's got to spice up the shteinfest that comes with watching untalented people play football...

I already have a headache. Some of the nitwits are already crying for Stephen Davis to be signed. Or to trade for Travis Henry.
Most importantly, how big of a doofus did Morningweig look like tonight?
Blocking or no blocking, the backup QB and RB situation might be even worse than the WR's.
For all the hype, McDougle looked like shtein out there. He was getting blown off the line by a chipping TE every time I watched. Ugh.
No one has said anything about Gaither. He seems to have lead the team in tackles and had a couple for a loss..was he playing well?
QuoteCANTON, Ohio - NBC probably was hoping for more than one series of Donovan McNabb and the Eagles' first-team offense when it slotted the Birds for last night's Hall of Fame game against the Oakland Raiders, which the Raiders won, 16-10.
But it turned out Andy Reid wasn't issuing a solid commitment when he said his first-teamers would play the first quarter. McNabb and his re-energized, Terrell Owensless teammates moved 61 yards in nine plays for a touchdown the first time they had the ball, and Reid, as he has done before in preseason games, decided that was all he needed to see, the rest of the nation be darned.
"I thought the 'ones' did a nice job, the limited time they were in," Reid said afterward. Asked about the early end of the evening for the offensive starters, Reid said: "Well, they got nine plays. I wasn't going to let 'em go a quarter. If it was two series, it was two series."
Reid does mean some things he says - six of those nine plays were runs, all by Brian Westbrook for 32 yards and the TD, scored on a 1-yard plunge through the right side. Reid has vowed to rediscover running. We'll go out on a limb and predict last night's mix of two-thirds running and one-third passing for the starters won't hold up throughout the season.
"It felt great," Westbrook said. "Coach told us early that he wanted to kind of set the tone with the running game, and that's what we did. The offensive line was out there early, opening up holes. I thought, really, on a couple of runs, I could have scored. I tripped up a little bit... but the offensive line did a great job, and hopefully, that's how it will be. We've certainly committed a lot of practice time to the running game, and we did it out there in the first preseason game."
You don't want to ascribe too much importance to the opening drive of a preseason game, but the Eagles definitely looked sharp and showed a sense of purpose.
"This is something that's serious for us," McNabb said after completing all three of his passes, for 29 yards. "We were prepared to come out and have a good showing."
McNabb's longest completion went for 14 yards, to Westbrook. And no, there were no long or even medium-length throws attempted, but we are just talking about one series here.
The first-team defense played just two series, and was equally dominant, giving up no first downs. New defensive-end acquisition Darren Howard moved to tackle on third down, with Trent Cole taking Howard's spot, and Cole ended the second series by sacking Aaron Brooks on third-and-5.
"It was exciting and it was exhilarating to get out there and get that fresh start," said Howard, who played his first six NFL seasons in New Orleans. "It was important for us to set the tone, and I think we did that. It went fast, but we did what we had to do when we were in there."
The rest of the game was much more of a mixed bag, as might be expected when you're playing rookies and deep subs against someone else's rookies and deep subs.
"I saw some things from our young guys that we need to work on," Reid said. He obviously did not like his team's two interceptions and three lost fumbles.
Fifth-round rookie linebacker Omar Gaither exemplified those ups and downs. Gaither entered the game in the second quarter for Mark Simoneau and went flying through the middle on his first snap, upending Raiders runner Justin Fargas for a 1-yard loss. Nice debut. But later, Gaither gave up a 27-yard gain on a swing pass when he unwisely abandoned his coverage to chase the quarterback, who hadn't crossed the line of scrimmage.
Linebacker Matt McCoy played a strong game but took a bad unnecessary-roughness penalty, hitting Raiders QB Marques Tuiasosopo well out of bounds. Later in that drive, the Raiders tied the game, 10-10, with a 51-yard Sebastian Janikowski field goal. Janikowski hit two more field goals to give Oakland its final margin.
There were some comforting, familiar sights, as well: David Akers blasted a Hall of Fame game-record 55-yard field goal in the second quarter. Reno Mahe hustled and bustled and showed why he is so hard to cut. J.R. Reed ran around and hit hard and returned kicks on a straight line, just as he did 2 years ago, before suffering a career-threatening injury to his left peroneal nerve.
Birdseed
Suddenly, the Eagles are a whirlwind of activity. They signed Brodrick Bunkley and extended Brian Dawkins this weekend, and last night, the NFL rumor mill was churning again with reports that the Birds were involved with Denver in a possible trade for wide receiver Ashley Lelie. An Eagles source confirmed the Birds have talked to Denver about Lelie, but denied that anything was imminent. Eagles sources say there is no chance the Birds will trade for Oakland's Jerry Porter...
His name was never mentioned during the circle jerk of a broadcast, and I never saw his name on a jersey. So, maybe.
Thanks MMH, that spells it out nicely.
Did you guys hear the tail end of Reid's press conference?
Paraphrasing here... "are you concerned with the offense's imbalance on the first drive with the running game?"
Wise asses.
:-D
I dont know if it was mentioned, but Dexter Wynn should have been cut immediately after the game. He was drafted as a return specialist that can play a bit at CB, and he sucks at both. I counted SIX TIMES where he gave up a first down on 3rd down. Ridiculous.
Don't kid yourself. He was brought in solely to return. He's Westbrook's size, for Christ's sake.

He and Bruce Perry probably had the worst games out of anyone on the team.
I'd say Howard, McCoy, Justice, and even Reed stood out.
Reed about killed himself and two other people on that hit that made the Raider bite his tongue off. Aren't they supposed to wear mouthpieces to prevent that?
It isnt something worth paying attention to, but the players almost always take out their mouth pieces after the play and forget to put it back in maybe 98% of the time.
There's one guy who's not going to forget for a while.

That was an awesome hit. Talk about separating the ball from the receiver. I especially like the fact that he knocked the air out of Joselio Hanson,
through McMahan.
That's one thing (out of many) from the announcers that I didn't like. They did not spend any time talking about Reed or Tapeh coming back from career-threatening injuries. Sure, Tapeh was out there all of two plays, but Reed was all over the place.
Was anyone surprised that Madden managed to make 3 or 4 minutes of the broadcast 100% Hank Fraley?
I'm surprised that there was no mention of Terrell Owens last night.
Was anybody else surprised that Al Michaels actually called almost half the game before the broadcast turned into "The Anything But What's Happening On The Field Show?"
Not really. Every year I forget how awful any announcers are until I hear them again.
they do get old quick
Thanks to everyone who posted throughout the game yesterday. Y'all are better than the talking heads we're bitching about now, not least because I don't have to actually listen to you...
Costas to Michaels: "This is the first time that you and I have worked together since BASEketball!", followed by comments about how the movie sucked, it made $11, 4 people saw it and Parker/Stone got paid a lot of money. Madden said nothing and pondered how he could stuff a baseball and a basketball into a turkey...
There was also the time Costas was waving away from the camera in tongue-in-cheek fashion (after Collinsworth had done so by accident), and Madden didn't pick up on Costas' sarcasm.
Also, did you see the shot in the stands of Madden's family? Dear God.

Madden is a a friggin' video game drone himself now. I bet the EA Madden has more comments to loop thru than Madden himself. The TO was more than I ever expected, which is alot .... and i forget what Madden said, but at one point it his commentary was way out in left field. I actually miss Dennis Miller .....
What's up Reidme!
my impressions...
the lines were good, especially the dline, they will be fun to watch and they alone will propel this defense to being a top 10 defense.
the offense is going to have problems, Pink's done, Glew sucks, Gaffney has shown nothing, and an undrafted free agent wide reciever is going to get major time. that's big time trouble.
the backup quaterback situation looks as bad as it did last year. granted, Garcia was playing behind a line of twos, but still, he looked terrible. and Koy, well, yeah.
i love the defensive line as well...so deep...they have everything except a run stopper
but as good as they are the linebackers are that bad...no way does a top ten defense contain this linebacking corps
im looking for the defense to be much improved and to be in the middle of the pack...15ish

Why couldn't we get a picture of that butt instead of Trotter's, MUSSA?

That's her, alright!
I finally found out who she is - her name is Jamie Apody.
But she looks nothing like her pic on Action News.com. But then again I can't confess to staring at her face one time at camp. The shorts she had on during the first day were pretty revealing.
