Didn't see a thread about Reggi White's induction tomorrow, so I thought I'd start one.
Anyone see his wife on the news today, I guess during the pre-induction press conference. It looks like her speech is going to be really emotional.

You don't say!
Yes... really really emotional!!
Oddly enough I just found his autobiography randomly in the house and was skimming through it. It kind of sucks he talks about the Packers so much in it, but I guess that's where he won his super bowl..
I'l say this and be done with it..some of us aren't in love wit Reggie. Have a nice day.
Reggie is the farging man. One of the favorite players ever. Sure he talked about his faith a lot, and I don't have one religious bone in my body, but I never had a problem with it. I know it bothered some people but I never cared.
I'm going to be watching tomorrow, and am very much looking forward to seeing Reggie be inducted, but at the same time it's going to be painful to watch if Sara White starts breaking down.
i collect autographed 8x10's of philly athletes and my most prized one is a picture of reggie circa 1980's before he started to put on weight....its simply amazing....my most prized photo

Ditto, I have a signed copy of an old Eagles Digest that had a picture of the birds 1991 season Pro Bowl defensive selections: Simmons, Brown. Joyner, Allen and of course Reggie. I got Reggie to sign it in the lobby of the Hilton Hawaiian Village. He was actually for cool. This was February 1992 and it was fairly easy to approach the players. I have it buried away somewhere.
I was in college when Reggie's first book came out. I went to a book signing at a local bookstore. He was a class act.

That right there is some cool shtein. :yay :yay :yay
As a fan who watched Reggie his whole career, I have to say he was the greatest Eagle I ever saw put on pads, and possibly the greatest defensive player ever. There was never anyone on the field at the same time as him who was as strong and fast as he was. Jerome Brown was strong and athletic, but not as quick. No one man could block him, and some times even when double teamed he would still break plays up. He was even triple teamed on some plays.
When the game was on the line and the Eagles needed a big stop, you could put all your money on Reggie White being there to get the sack or make a play. He was the most awesome player I've ever seen on any team, and he's right were he belongs in the Hall of Fame.
Anyone else a little bothered by the fact that not one of his former teammates bothered to show up in Canton this weekend?

Bothered? No.
Surprised? Yeah, more than a little bit.
Maybe they weren't invited?
But would they need to be invited to sit there and show their support for Reggie?
I don't know, Phreak.
Maybe the Eagles got a certain allotment of VIP seats and Lurie and the current players used them instead.
I can't think of a legitimate reason why every single member of the Gang Green defense wasn't there (other than Jerome, obviously).
I don't know either. But there appeared to be a lot of empty seats up close. And Madden had about 20 former Raiders there.
I wish they would've been there. Buddy, Seth, Clyde, Golic, Pitts, Allen...all of them.
Al Davis looks like death warmed over.
Sara's speech is kind of all over the place. And she thanked Rich Kotite.
I can't find the link where I read this, but Lurie was quoted as saying to Dawkins, "The next time that I'll be here (Canton), will be when they induct you."
If the Eagles weren't going to make a serious effort to keep him here, I doubt Lurie would have spoken those words.
It's a total front by that blueblood Boston hack, Lurie.
Everyone knows that he will not do what it takes to re-sign him. He's cheap and he'll tell Banner to lowball him on purpose.
He'll let Dawk walk.

As much as I love Dawk he is very borderline, if he makes great but right now I would say that it is very doubtful. Of the current players on the roster I would think McNabb has the best chance to make it. If he wins a SB he will be a stone cold lock.
I thik Dawk makes it.

I disagree with you on both points. Dawkins is well respected by a lot of the people who have votes. Dr. Douche has said he's an absolute lock. He's not a first ballot guy, but I think it's more likely than not that he will get in eventually.
The hurdles are much higher for QB. McNabb needs to start winning some Super Bowls. If not, he'll probably need another decade of playing at his current level, or at least a couple years of playing at the superhuman Peyton Manning 2004-2005 level.

Jim Kelly is in the HOF and he is not as good of a QB as McNabb imo. You think that McNabb has to win multiple SBs? I think if he wins one he is a lock for the Hall.
The three HOF recent QBs I can think of who didn't win an SB were Jim Kelly, Dan Marino, and Warren Moon. McNabb's statistical achievements don't even approach those of the last two guys, and when he leads the Eagles into four straight Super Bowls we can talk about him being as good as Jim Kelly. Yes, Kelly had a pack of other Hall of Famers around him, but the Hall tends to overlook that.
Winning a Super Bowl would help McNabb's chances greatly without a doubt, but it wouldn't make him a lock. Right now McNabb is about at the same level as a Randall Cunningham or a Steve McNair-type candidate. Two Super Bowls would make him a lock, one would make him a good candidate. Right now he's not a serious candidate.
It is early because he has probably at least five more seasons left, you compare him to McNair and Cunningham and they are both borderline prospects so to me that would make McNabb one as well.

Fran Tarkenton and Dan Fouts said "Hi" from Canton.
Dawk should definitely make it. He's arguably the second best safety to ever play the game behind Lott.
That would be an amazing moment, because he's my favorite Eagle ever.
Ask Crumpler if he belongs in the Hall. ;D
and Vick, and Hilliard. :yay
Back on topic though, I remember when Reggie was with the Eagles and they played Green Bay. Tony Mandrich was the no. 1 pick for the Packers, first time they ever picked a O-lineman first. I think it was Brown and Pitts complaining that they couldn't get to the quarterback, but not because they couldn't beat their man, they had trouble jumping over Mandrich after Reggie would throw him to the ground! :-D On the replays, it looked like a man going against a high schooler. Mandrich had absolutely no chance at all of blocking Reggie.
Then there is the story of when the Eagles played the Giants, and Reggie sacked Phil Simms at least three times that game. I'd have to check, but it might have been 4. Anywayz, the last time Reggie sacked him, when Simms was getting up, Reggie said, "Don't worry Phil, Jesus loves you." Well, Simms didn't take to well to that comment, and screamed, "Why don't you just shut up Preacher man!! " :-D That was great stuff back in the day.
When I was most of your guys age, and we were all going to the Vet to watch my man Jody, Reggie was the friggen' shtein, he was without a doubt, the main man on that team. We were in awe of what he did to opposing lineman. None of us had ever seen anything like it before, and most likely never will again. He was soooo strong and sooo damn quick. He could beat you every way possible, and guys that went up against him never knew what to expect, a swim move, bull rush, he did it all with perfection. I mean, you sat there just waiting for him to get that key sack, and he was at his best on third down, double team or not. He damn shore didn't need anyone to lay down for him, like that loud mouth gap toothed Jersey Giant. I swear, Strahan couldn't carry Reggie's jock.

When watching the induction, they reminded me of Reggie's sack number in 1987. 21 sacks in 12 games.
12 games. If it weren't for that strike... Strahan wouldn't have approached that record... Favre or no Favre.

Now he's and announcer and I find he has some good insight to the games and halfway enjoy listening to him do the color.

And yeah, it sickens me to say that because complimenting a Cowboy goes against everything I believe in.
