EAGLES BAG BUNKLEY
A league source tells us that the Philadelphia Eagles and defensive tackle finally have come to terms with defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley, the team's first-round draft pick.
We're told that the deal has a base value of more than $12.5 million, with nearly $10 million in guaranteed money.
The primary sticking point was whether the deal would be five years or six years in length. We're told that the deal is indeed a six-year package, but that it contains an escalator that would push his final year salary to the franchise tender for defensive tackles in 2011. Bunkley needs to make it to the Pro Bowl three times in five years to trigger the maximum number, with lower triggers resulting in a smaller escalators.
You may want to change the title of the thread now. ;)

It's encouraging that both sides have faith in this dude's talent to be pro-bowl caliber 3 out of 5 years. The Eagles put it in writing, and the Bunkley camp agreed to it.
More than Ngata and could potentially end up as top 10 money like Wichard wanted. In return, the Eagles get 6 yrs. Good deal all around...
I can't believe it took this long just to agree to a 6th year with a variable salary. Freaking assbags.
^^^^ What he said ^^^^
I can't believe it took this long
this long?
its august 4th?
i told everyone on tuesday it would be done within a week and that it was a non-story then and is even less of one now
No, it's a story when you first round pick signs. Doesn't matter when he signs, it's a fargin' story.

I think the :CF reporters need to write a featurette on the details of the negotiations.

his hold out was and is a non story...not his signing
I'm glad its over, but he's made a bad first impression, and as a fan I feel he now has something more to prove to us, his coaches, and most importantly his team mates.
He made it JUST in time for my deadline.
I scared his ass straight.

Wait, so he was gay, then you hit on him, now he's straight?
Sure.
he didn't make a bad impression on me.
i could care less if he misses the first 2 weeks of training camp. give the man his cash and get him on the field. then i will decide whether i like him or not.

lolol
I don't think he has made a bad impression he was most likely just following the advice of his agent.
Jenkins will work with him privately to make sure he gets down the techniques I'd assume. When he's not busy doing other things of course.

Damn skippy.
only bummer is he obviously will not play this sunday anf highly doubtful he plays next week. Damm we may not get a good look at this guy for two more weeks. >:(
I hope that he's been doing some reading while lounging waiting to get the deal done that will help him understand the scheme better.
while the "team" is in Canton for the HOF game, they should make Bunkley take a crash TC course at Lehigh.
He can use his arsehole agent as the red-shirted QB.
YES!!!!

Why put a red shirt on him? I don't have anything against him - I just like people to get hit.

Bunkley was on CSN
-- will be at training camp tonight
-- said the incentives were the holdup in the deal
-- was getting pressure from family to sign soon and said a random 12-yr old kid came up to him and told him to get his ass to camp
