Browns center Bentley hurts knee first day of camp

BEREA, Ohio -- Pro Bowl center LeCharles Bentley sustained an injury to his left knee during the Browns' first 11-on-11 drill of training camp on Thursday.
Bentley got tangled in a pile of players as he was blocking on a running play for Reuben Droughns.
Bentley screamed, "No," before remaining on his knees as the Browns moved their scrimmage up the field so trainers could attend to the 6-foot-2, 309-pound player.
He stayed on the ground in a seated position for several minutes before Cleveland's medical staff immobilized his left knee and carted him to the locker room.
Bentley covered his face with a towel on the short drive to the field house as Browns players and fans looked on in shock.
The extent of Bentley's injury is not yet known.
Bentley, a five-year veteran, signed as a free agent with the Browns in March.
Ha. Ha. Motherfarger.

C'mon, people. If you're going to be witty, at least get it right.
Banner should be on the phone now trying to trade Fraley to them
I know that this shouldn't have made me giggle a little, but, somehow, it did. I guess I have some personal growning to do.
and you want to trade Fraley why?
I dunno....a RB who isn't imminent to break would be nice. And Fraley is an UDFA after this season. Getting something for him now wouldn't hurt.
Jackson gets hurt, you gonna start Trey Darilek?

They have no center now because they traded away Faine.

QuoteAccording to sources close to Bentley the injury was a potentially season-ending injury to his patellar tendon, ESPN.com's John Clayton reported. Bentley was in the process of getting an MRI to determine whether it is a partial or total tear.
Cleveland.com is reporting that it was ruptured and he's done.
Karma's a motherfarger, ain't it?
Spadaro offers his two cents on the issue:
QuoteI don't want to see anyone get hurt, but I also take it as a sign. Terrible luck for the Browns. I mean, I know that some would say what comes around goes around, but I won't do that.
I wonder how much shtein he'll get from the muckety mucks for posting that?
:-D

Oh Dave you..... ;)
so if dave dies in a car accident tonight has shtein 'come around'?
Only one way to find out.
I'd like Spads to qualify exactly what kind of "sign" this is. That's a pretty outrageous statement to make without backing it up.
A sign that some powerful deity likes the Eagles? There are plenty of reasons to not believe that one.
A sign that some powerful deity hates the Browns? Okay, a lot less evidence against it, but hardly relevant to the Eagles.
A sign that Bunkley is inury-prone and the Eagles front office is super smart for not signing him? This seems like the kind of thing Spads is likely to imply. Except anyone would have been injured in that situation and the Eagles office desperately wanted to sign him before getting screwed over by Bentley and the Browns.
A sign that the Eagles will pay players on other teams under the table to intentionally injure people who farg with the Birds? You didn't hear it from me. :paranoid
I'd like to think it's a sign of things to come to those who have recently screwed the Eagles.
I'm sure if he was playing for the Eagles and this happened to him none of you guys would be laughing, and you'd probably be crying.

Not too many around here are laughing. Laughing (and pointing) are reserved for the taterskins.
Sounds like he may be out for 2007 as well. Enjoy the extra money you got by using the Eagles LeCharles.

Browns center LeCharles Bentley made no guarantees that he'll be back in 2007, but assured fans Wednesday that he'll play football again. Bentley, who underwent surgery July 28 to repair a torn patellar tendon, declined to confirm an NFL Network report that he's contemplating an other surgery that could side line him for 2007.

Charlie Frye has a broken hand and is done for the season too. Cleveland has Philadelphia-like sports karma.
