Yes, today is the day when the 2006 season officially begins. Doesn't it seem like forever ago that we were watching that 6-10 mess? Today the rookies and selected vets report to Lehigh. The first "real" day will be Tuesday the 25th and I will be there to report. I will be there on Wednesday too.
So who can't wait to see what crappy car Koy will be driving this year? Who can't wait to see Josh Parry whiff on his blocks? And how can you forget watching Dhani Jones play his goddamn banjo during 7-7's when he "tackles" an offensive player!
Have a ball up at camp. I'm a die hard Eagles fan, but I'll never wake up early as hell on a hot ass day and drive over an hour to watch players practice.
But I do enjoy reading camp reports, so live it up down there.

If you weren't "die hard" enough to go up from a few hours away or out-of-state, that's one thing. But you're complaining about driving "over an hour" just to "watch players practice"? That's B.S. At TC, you get a much better chance to see players up close, maybe chat with one or two... It's this simple: if you're truly a "die hard" fan, you would at least consider heading up from year to year, instead of whining about the heat and the "over an hour" drive. You're a farging Hoyda.
I'll be there a week from tomorrow probably, can't go Mon-Thurs until August.
Anyone else going to the HoF game??

Yes, but I haven't even remotely considered purchasing any Red Stripe.
I almost bought a 12-er of Busch Light last night, but I realized I didn't hate myself that much.
Red Stripe is pretty solid.
I usually drink Natty, so Busch Lite is a step up for me
Hate those series of commercials. And Red Stripe is pretty bland, in general. Pretty low on the list of quality brews.
And training camp is an excellent opportunity to really enjoy the team and it's easy to really focus on individual development; much more so than during a game. It's a good way to enjoy football, without the blood pumping game-at-stake pressure. Nice change of pace.
And I'm really hopeful that the bad year the Eagles had last season chases away the throngs of marginal fans that have been increasing over the last two years. It's so much better with a smaller crowd.

I disagree.
The games are what matter to me. I'd wake up any hour or drive any amount of time to see the Eagles play a game, but not for training camp. To me I'd prefer doing other things, like sleep.
You prefer sleep to getting up close and personal to your favorite football team's practice after a 7 month off-season? Yeah, real die hard. Give me a break. Sleep when you're dead.
It's practice. We all know studs at camp can easily be duds during the season.
Going to TC didn't even get popular until these past 10 years or so. There were plenty of fans back in the 80's who didn't give a damn about camp. Because the games are what matters. If it was across the street, I'd go, but sorry, it's not worth it to me.
Exactly. So we both agree that you are not die hard. That was easy.

This is how I know what you've said is true, and why it's now in your file. You can leave off the "god's honest truth" next time; it's unnecessary.

Nevermind:
QuoteAvant was one of the Eagles' fourth-round draft picks in 2006. The former Michigan star hyperextended his knee during organized team activity and underwent knee surgery to clean out cartilage on June 20.
That's like a free pass for Pinkston and Lewis. Fantastic.
He had wrist surgery.
Bloom I understand. Avant falls in line with this team's MO of not playing offensive skill players much at first.
Buckhalter should just be shot and never spoken of again.

HUGE credit to donovan today...he finally became a man in addressing the TO stuff...he was forceful funny direct and made some excellent points in debunking TO's pathetic book...even took nice some shots at TO...
for me it was a big step towards him being 'right' going into this season...theres a lot more to come so im not pulling out the knee pads and chapstick just yet...but my boy done good today
IGY...I think he's been 'right', just not in the media's eyes.
Narducci (http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/sports/15093206.htm)
QuoteMcNabb was sharp and to the point when asked when his autobiography would be coming out.
"Mine is coming out real soon," he said laughing. "It will be a children's book, right next to his."
QuoteMcNabb also insists he isn't gun shy and will run the ball when it merits it. He has been criticized for his unwillingness to run the ball. Even during the year the Eagles went to the Super Bowl, McNabb carried the ball only 41 times.
"I think there is one thing you have to understand," he said. "Everything I say or do in Philadelphia will get criticized some how."
IGY...I think he's been 'right', just not in the media's eyes.
theres many fans that have these concerns...its not media created by any means
today didnt extinguish those worries but it sure as hell helped...it was clear donovan did some soul searching before this camp and came out with a more sinewy attitude and a less bitchy one....and that was good to see

Telling TO to 'shut the farg up' in the huddle isn't enough for you?
acting like a pansy for the past two years and letting TO urinate all over him kinda overshadows a little f bomb
the only reason that f bomb was dropped is because TO was berating donovan in the heat of battle and it kinda just popped out...im sure it was one of those scratch the record music stops moments and then donovan gave a "did i really just say that look" and proceeded to call the next play

For two years? Lets see, they went to the Superbowl and things were peaches and cream for the most part season 1. Season 2 McNabb only plays half the season and during one of the games tells TO to shut the farg up. You're not giving Donovan enough credit here, he's the leader of the team and knows how to keep his emotions in check when need be.

the only reason hes ever brought up is because perry is so god awful and eagle fans are so desperate for a legit fb that they have created this false hope in tapeh

I would have to agree that is likely.
regardless of what anyone says...no injury is minor when a guy is basically coming off of reconstructive hip surgery.
i doubt tepah will ever see the field in a real game (then again, he ruined his career playing in a glorified preseason game)...same goes for JR Reed.

Perry isn't god awful.
Parry is god awful.
And I had hope for Tapeh when they drafted him. I was looking for him to be a FB/RB player who can do the FB job and then pick up tough yards in a one-back set like he did in Minnesota.
It shouldn't really matter who* is back there if the offensive line performs like it should.
*Not counting Reno or Parry.
Agreed.
I am excited about this OL. My only really big question is if WilliamTrawhoreallygivesafargwhathisfirstnameis Thomas is ready to go and can stay healthy.
If Manneans has to play LT for the season, I still like this line. I'm pretty much prepared for him as the starter, since nobody knows what the hell is wrong with Mr. Thomas.
I wonder though...
Would they slide Manneans out there and insert Clarke or MJG at LG? Or would they toss Justice out there and see what he can do?
I figured they were keeping Justice as Runyan's replacement. I don't know if they'd put him at LT for a year when they know that he's going RT next year.
Would it really hurt him though?
I cant see Reid letting the better player ride the bench.
Justice would probably step in right away at LT.
Justice is the LT of the future. he was running with the one's during minicamps while Thomas was out. Herremans is the starter at LG right now. so if Thomas can't play, I'm pretty sure they'd go Justice Herremans Jackson Andrews Runyan.
i wish i could be as confident in the offensive line as yous
after seeing that Andrews picture, i think the right side will be fine. holy shtein.

This season's #1 running play? Delayed draw left.
runyan ancient
thomas hurt
jackson who? - fraley sucks
herremans huge question mark
andrews - he is actually the guy who makes me most comfortable yet hes played 17 nfl games in his whole life
convince me why i should feel good about this group cause i really want to
No you don't. You like kvetching too much.
that didnt convince me
Nothing is going to. Watch the season and make, you know, an actual educated decision.
Or, I suppose, you could go to camp frequently. If you just couldn't wait.
Ruyan is ancient, but really hasn't shown any signs of being a player other than what he's been the past 5 years. I think going into camp, you can safely assume that he will be an anchor at RT until shown otherwise. Andrews should be better with his new physique. The center position is something to worry about, no doubt. Jackson is bigger and probably stronger. But from all accounts, Fraley was very good a making the line calls, it is yet to be seen if Jackson has a firm understanding of that. Herremans is an unkown at guard, but if the transisiton that John Welbourn made from tackle to guard is any indication of what can be done, they might be good there. LT is a question based on health. Can Thomas play? If not, can a rookie hold up in one of the most important positions on the team?
Not only did i just not convince you, i worried myself.

lololol
I know this is a no-brainer...but if the Eagles are going to do anything this year, the O line and D line will have to be roughly 10,000,000 times better than last year. I like the way they're shaping up at this point, but until we see them play together, there's really no way to know.
i feel comfortable about the d-line until proven otherwise...but the o line to me is gonna be a mess
I don't really see that. But, there are no words that will prove either of us right or wrong at this point.
i just had a dream b4 i woke up about the eagles first game this season. the eagles are on about the 13yd line. after the snap mcnabb passes to gaffeny behind the line of scrimmage for a trick/gadget play. gaffeny looks to pass and finds lj smith in the back of the endzone.
i could have sworn it was real.
i woke up when i started cheering.

This make no sense to me. The D-line is manned with a rookie, a second year guy, Walker, a truck driver and two DEs who can't stay healthy. That worries me a whole hell of a lot. They could be great, or mediocre or terrible. There is absolutely no way to tell.
The offensive line also has the potential to be anywhere from dominant to terrible, but I see a lot less problem with depth/injuries there simply because there is a a lot of versatility there. If/when Thomas gets hurt they have Herremans and Justice. If Runyan gives in to old age they have Andrews. Fraley sucks, but would be great as a backup. MJG should be able to play a little and the other backup guards have experience. Passable talent up and down the depth chart with only a couple of injury worries.
Even though they are both question marks, the defensive line worries me a whole hell of a lot more than the offensive line.

in other words you agree with me...its looks good until proven otherwise
two pro bolwers on the ends and two first round picks in the middle...plus great depth
cant argue with that
O-line IMO looks better than d-line going into camp. Overall comparing to last season though, both lines are in waaay better period. more depth and healthy. of course if everyone can stay healthy, play up and beyond their abilities and do it consistently we should be tearing some new iceholes.

I agree, but the depth along the D-Line (if it holds up) could be a big plus for the DBs.
depth is def. a good thing, but if they arn't getting penetration its no good for the DB's. this is the most crucial part to next year. i feel like the defense has to win us games, mostly because im not that confident in our offense. yes the WR's are young and or just average. the run game has yet to be established and im not ready to believe Reid is that eager to run the ball. we'll see. other than the lack of confidence, im still pumped as hell for some football. these guys have something to prove this year.
