Woman Found In Fla. Canal May Have Been Killed By Alligator
POSTED: 7:24 am EDT May 11, 2006
SUNRISE, Fla. -- Authorities were trying to determine if a woman whose body was found in canal was killed by an alligator.
The dismembered body of Yovy Suarez Jimenez, 28, of Davie, was found Wednesday by construction workers.
Jimenez went for a jog Tuesday night and did not return.
"We have witnesses and we have physical evidence to support our theory that the young lady was dragged into the water and attacked," said Officer Jorge Pino, spokesman for the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission. "But, that's a theory. We may never know. The possibility also exists that she might have fallen in."
Witnesses reported seeing a woman matching Jimenez's description dangling her feet over the water's edge, but no one saw an attack, Pino said.
An autopsy will determine if Jimenez died from drowning or injuries received from an attack by an alligator.
The animal, believed to be eight to 10-feet long, will be caught and destroyed and the contents of its stomach will be examined, Pino said.
There have been 25 fatal alligator attacks in Florida since 1948, according to the wildlife commission.

Alligator Likely Stalked Jogger On Land Before Attack
POSTED: 7:06 am EDT May 12, 2006
UPDATED: 11:49 am EDT May 12, 2006
An alligator that killed a woman jogger in Broward County, Fla., likely stalked her on land before the attack, according to a Local 6 News report Friday.
The Broward County medical examiner said the alligator attacked Yovy Suarez Jimenez, 28, of Davie, on land and then dragged her dismembered body into a nearby lake.
Her body was found by construction workers after she didn't return from a jog the previous night.
"It is my professional opinion that the alligator attacked the woman while she was on land," said Dr. Joshua Perper, Broward County's medical examiner. "She died of traumatic injuries sustained by an alligator attack, a mixture of blood loss and shock, and in my opinion died very fast."
Perper ruled out drowning because little water was found in her stomach and lungs, according to on story on The Miami Herald's Web site.
Earlier, Officer Jorge Pino, spokesman for the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, said the department had witnesses who had seen a woman matching Jimenez's description dangling her feet over the water's edge, but no one saw an attack, Pino said.
Trappers will try to catch and kill the animal, believed to be eight to 10-feet long, and the contents of its stomach will be examined, Pino said.
Perper said the alligator appeared to have crawled on to land and killed Jimenez and then dragged her body into the water.
He said alligators generally pull their prey into the water.
"When they are hungry they can be very very aggressive and attack for food purposes," he said.
There have been 25 fatal alligator attacks in Florida since 1948, according to the wildlife commission.
That's gotta be in the top five worst ways to go.
Further proof that the world's animals are working together to kill humans.
I hope PETA works hard to find the Alligator to make sure it didn't suffer any injuries.
As much as I want to kick alligator ass, I just don't see a gator chasing down a jogger.

Alligators are fast man.
Actually alligators can run for short bursts up of up to 35 mph. If one is running after you your supposed to zig zag because they can't cut...

I was gonna say that and then make some Drew Bledsoe joke but ultimately I suck at internet humor.
Thanks for the clarification.
Note to self: don't farg around near alligators unless you feel you can run faster than 35 mph, and cut like Barry Sanders.

Arms Recovered Inside Gator (http://www.nbc5i.com/news/9211540/detail.html)
QuoteAuthorities still aren't sure how the attack took place. Witnesses had reported seeing a woman dangling her feet over the water's edge Tuesday, but no one saw an attack.
The way I understood it is that the gator came up on the woman from behind and got her while on land and then brought her into the canal after she was dead.
Apparently the arms they found in the alligator's stomach do not belong to the missing woman. It seems as though the gator stopped by Wendy's for a bowl of chili.
Brings new meaning to the term "Alligator Arms"
Well,
looking at the description, it seems that the gator had picked the right spot... dinner running by at regular intervals...
I guess he wanted his meal.........to go. :paranoid
They always said that exercise is bad for you.
What further proof do you need?
