Title: 3rd string QB
Post by: MURP on May 04, 2006, 09:36:38 AM
In his interview with Spadz, Mornhinweg said not to be surprised if they bring in another QB to compete for the #3 spot with Koy and Timmmaay Chang.   Obviously didnt bring in any URFA's at QB.... anyone vets out there more interesting to have around than Koy?

i find it hard to believe they would bring in another qb to 'compete'...maybe a training camp body...another guy they can use in passing drills...especially with a longer camp this year

wasnt travis brown camp fodder for the birds once upon a time? meaning half of that list has already been a 3rd stringer for the birds at one point.

Garcia
Bloom
Feeley

would be the gayest looking backup QB group ever.

What does Bloom have to do with gay-looking QB's?

could be, it's hard to get a read on Morninwheg with so few interviews to go by where as we know JJ shoots straight from the hip about any issue.

I'm not sure what the point is. The season is lost even if we get to Garthia for an extended period of time, and Akers is a bitch and obviously wants Neckbeard to be his holder. So let the baby have his bottle.

Have any of those backups available yet been touched by a coaching angel?  Because that would be super.
Title: Re: 3rd string QB
Post by: MDS on May 04, 2006, 10:15:34 AM
No, stupid. You have to play under Saint Joseph Gibbs in order to be touched by a coaching angel. Even though Shane Matthews played for the best owner in sports, Daniel Snyder, he was never offically touched by a coaching angel.

Maybe we'll get lucky, and the skins will sign one of those guys, and then release him during training camp.

It only takes a moment to be touched, right?

God Gibbs can touch anyone in an instant!  You only have to be in his presence to feel the glow.

has Alex Gibbs touched any of them?  Other than in the private areas?

With what we have a QB for the third option, Koy Detmer and Timmy Chang. And Garcia being signed for one year only. How about going out and getting Joey Harrington to be our third string this year and back up next. Im sure you could get him for a 5th or maybe a OL  guy we dont think will make our roster. Maybe a Scott Young, Tre Darilek, Calvin Armstrong.

Im not completly sold on Joey Harrington. But Has More talent and Upside then any of our back ups.

harrington isnt going somewhere to be a back-up...he wants to go to a team where he has a chance to win a job...or whos starting job is shaky right now

In that case, depending on who you talk to in Philly... this might not be a bad place for Harrington to wind up.

Right.  Which is why he wants to go to Miami, who has a QB that you claim is better than the Eagles' QB.

Joey "Wine and Cheese" Harrington reunites with Jeff Garcia?  Spadz would have a PR dream and dance to Dream Weaver on the beach again.

Stick with Timmay. He's good enough as a  third stringer this year.

Yeah I just watched Timmy in action in NFLE and he looked good.  He on his first drive he threw one great pass and followed that with an inc. and a pick.

Second drive he was flawless.  6 for 6 and a touch.

Who cares who the 3rd string QB is. If it gets down to it our season is over anyways.

I don't know how AJ did it that one year - I would think it was more of an abberation than anything.

He did it by having a flawless defense, and minimizing his mistakes.  That's all you can hope for from your backup.
If you get a Tom Brady from your backup, that's just damn good luck.

Well what if McNabb gets hurt early in the season and is going to miss 8 weeks? He could be healthy for the playoffs, so we need someone to fill in until he gets back. If Garcia comes in and sucks it up, I'd like to have a guy as a 3rd stringer to come in and play until McNabb can come back healthy. Detmer isn't that guy.

If McNabb goes down and Garcia stinks it up the season should not be expected to be saved by a 3rd string QB.

Besides if Garcia starts we can motivate him by yelling "TO was right you poll smoking, soft handed, limp wristed, freak!!"

...in so many words anyway.

True. I was going for more of a rhetorical effect but I guess I should have clarified before.

Sign AJ!
