Who?
I have nothing on him in any book I have. And I have a lot of books.
Doesn't really make sense that they took another DT. Whatever, isn't he practive squad expanded that is what this guy has written all over him.
QuoteLaJuan Ramsey
DT | (6'25/8", 296, 4.98) | USC
QuoteStrengths: Possesses good initial burst, reads keys fairly well and gets into position quickly. Possesses good upper body strength and flashes the ability to shed blocks quickly. Possesses adequate lower body strength and flashes the ability to anchor when teams run at him. Possesses adequate closing speed and flashes a variety of pass rush moves.
Weaknesses: Ramsey doesn't have elite size and he is inconsistent. Doesn't have great bulk, plays too high and has problems splitting double teams. Doesn't always use hands well and needs to continue to work on ability to shed blocks. Plays out of control and gets caught out of position. Though has good range for size doesn't give the same effort on every snap and isn't relentless in pursuit. Missed two games with a shoulder injury in 2003, underwent hernia surgery during the 2004 off-season and missed two games with an ankle injury in 2005.
Overall: Ramsey does a lot of things well but he isn't dominant in any one area, he isn't fundamentally sound and there are some concerns about his ability to stay healthy, which is why Ramsey grades out as a free agent prospect in the 2006 class.
If you just going to waste a pick why not trade it for one next year? Im guessing they're waiting for FA for QBs,RBs
Winston Justice's caddie?

Maybe it's because you can't trade compensatory picks?
Just a thought.
It was a compensatory pick, can't trade those.
Still would've liked to see them take Riggs, but whatever
Doh' forgot it was compensatory.
Kiper likes him, FWIW.
wheew...i feel better. Is Rod Wright still available?

Yes.
wow cant believe he dropped so far.
Ramsey is a nice project.
With Grasmanis on his way out and with Hollis traded, Ramsey gives them some depth. He'll probably be on the PS.
Guess Keyonta isnt up to par heh.
Was part of the championship DT rotation with Patterson and Cody...

Ironically, he didn't get to start until his senior year because he was stuck behind Patterson...
He's a pass rushing one gap style DT. When he finally got to start he showed some real explosiveness and ability to pressure the passer. He needs to bulk up and get stronger against the run. Since Hollis Thomas was traded to the Saints, Ed Jasper is here on a one year deal and Grasmanis seems to have fallen out of favor... Ramsey is here for depth and hopefully to develop into a more complete DT.
I just don't see Ramsey actually getting a roster spot.

Why not? Hollis is gone, Grasmanis is probably gone, Jasper is gone next year, & Marshall is a just a body.
If the team carries 5 DTs, Ramsey will make the practice squad and be slotted to fill the hole Jasper creates next year.
Bunkley, Patterson, Walker, Jasper, & Rayburn(who isn't a given to make the team IMO) are your DTs. With injuries Ramsey could certainly get a spot.

Philly Forever already has him going to the HOF
I see Ramsey on the PS, thats about it. Even Spewdaro calls him a project.

He'll wind up being this the Norman Lejeune/David Bergeron of 2006. He'll either hang around the PS all year, or will get cut, only to sign on a team with horrible defense.
speaking of Norm, did anyone else realize he was in Miami last year with Labinjo? I found that bit of useless information intereresting.
LaJuan is a girl's name.
Just saw this about Rod Wright
QuoteFor example, it turns out that Texas DT Rod Wright, who fell all the way to the 7th round at this weekend's draft, has a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder that will require surgery. In fact, Wright didn't even know himself about the injury which showed up on a x-ray taken at the combine in February.
David Bergeron. Didn't think I'd be seeing that name again on here. The face, certainly, but not the name.
