Bunkley's on NFL network right now. Really nothing great.
- Is really excited to get started, was th rilled to be the Eagles pick.
-Has heard great things about JJs scheme.
-Schein or Cross mentioned they always go to the Eagles camp first on their summer tours, and that JJ runs the D hard the first couple of weeks. Broderick laughed it off.

I hear ya. Gonna have to invest.
ESPN analysis:
QuoteBunkley has good size and the powerful upper-body strength needed to hold his own against the run. More importantly, he has the quickness and motor to excel in Philadelphia's scheme, making him a candidate to push for playing time as a rookie.
Bunkley, Patterson, Walker, Rayburn, Jasper, Marshall, Hollis, Grasmanis
Looks like the last two are gone, then Jasper and Marshall would compete for the 5th DT spot...
Yeah I can't see how ether one of those guys hang on.
He benched 225 44 times at the combine. Beast.

I'm listening sounds like a decent young man. Says he has grown up a lot from the issues he has had with the Video game thing and his academic woes.
Sounds like these things may have gotten him straight.
Really cherrished every opportunity once he heard his mom crying over it and got his butt in gear after that.

I think he got in trouble menacing someone for a GTA video game with a fake gun or something like that.
Thought that was Justice?
Justice had some issues, I know that. Hadn't heard anything about Bunkley. But I didn't do any actual research on it because they're just kids until one of them becomes an Eagle. THEN I start wanting to know something about them.
Justice was the one with the fake gun.

Heh...Joseph looks sort of like Chad Johnson.
I could see the Giants going for Justice here.

Bunkley > Simon
He is a very similar player to Corey Simon but I think a better run stuffer.
Buffalo Bills have moved back to the 1st round.
Bears moved out.
Buffalo is going to take Justice. Gotta be.
I have a buddy who's an FSU fan and he reckons Bunkley is the nuts. :yay
For the time being, the greatest thing about this pick is that the Eagles gave up nothing to make it. He fell into their lap. If he turns out to be the stud we hope, then the fact that he came so easily in the draft will be the second greatest thing about this pick.

Bunkley looks chiseled. 6' 2" and 302, I thought he'd be a little bigger in the midsection, ala' Thomas. He's a friggen rock. I wonder what his biceps measure. They look big as telephone poles. He's the flip side of the 45 to Simon. Polar opposites.

He looks like an even bigger version of Trotter. 50 pounds bigger.
Wow that is amazing how much of a difference there is there. He also is a different player now, back then he was a penetrator/disrupter, now he is a gap filler.
For those who were talking about the "video game incident" on page 2, he stole a video game in 2002.

True, but but he didn't look like Bunkley when he was a rook either. I thought Vernon Davis was a freak, but this guy is 40-50 lbs. bigger with the same build.

I said all along that Bunkley at 14 was great value. I'm sure the Bills are glad they didn't trade down with the Eagles, because then DONTE fargING WHITNER might not have been there?!?
I know this belongs in another thread, but the first round of the draft pretty much guarantees the Bills' mediocrity for years to come. They suck. Ha.

Not only that...but then they traded UP to get McCargo when they could've had him at 42.
Whitner was in no danger of going until Dallas at 18.
Buffalo could've traded back with Denver. Denver gets Cutler and Buffalo gets Whitner at 15. And then they can stay put at 42 at still get McCargo.

Theoretically, you always pimp one player, then anytime he does well, you demand and collect props, and when he sucks, you're supposed to deflect the criticism and boast about how well he'll do with his next opportunity.

i think i'm going to say that he has a "Bunker" mentality...zLOL!!11!!1eleven@1
hes a bunk yard dawg
what!?!?!?!?!
oh snizzap
D. For all of you except the witty chap with the "drick-slapped" comment.
This is awful. Can we talk about Bunkley eating the first born of Derrick Dockery or Chris Snee? Bonus on Chris Snee, because his kids would also be Coughlin's grandkids.

If they're gonna put Howard at DT on passing plays, why not?

I would say no because now we have depth at the position. However, if one of the starters were injured he'd be a better option than Walker IMO.

I don't know when Walker is healthy he does pretty well at the DE positon. I really don't see Bunkley on the edge, but I wouldn't put it past JJ.
So the idea is that on running plays we might see, from end to end: Howard, Patterson, Bunkley, Walker?

That seems pretty good to me.
D-Line is definitely one of the most exciting parts of the team to watch this season - assuming that everyone stays healthy.

To me injuries are the only thing that will keep this Dline from being dominant.
Andy farging Reid calling passing plays 69% of the time will keep the DLine on the field long enough to guarantee injuries. You can bet your bippee on that.
It was *only* 64.5%.
Fair enough and duly noted. Moving on, I can't say how happy I am with the Bunkley pick. This is a big improvement for the Eagles.

We've been lacking a push up the middle since Corey Simon decided he'd skip training camp a few years in a row.
so has it been determined what number bunkley will rock
im ready to order his jersey but i obviously need to know first

i thought you'd never wear the new johnsons
im gettin his name on a throwback joint
his new jerseys wouldnt even be out yet would they
you could get a custom one made
true and no
you chided me for thinking about putting a current Flyer on an old-school Flyer jersey...farging hypocrite.
thats because the flyers dont have old school jerseys...their white ones have never changed...and on top of that the flyers black jerseys are tight
trust me i dont wanna do what im doing but the current state of the eagles jersey leaves me no choice
just as long as you know i'm gonna punch you in the face whenever I see you wear it..
black jerseys suck...they are a farging cliche
i like the black...they dont touch the orange which might be the best jerseys ever in sports....but they could have been done a lot worse...in like an arena league style...
just as long as you know i'm gonna punch you in the face whenever I see you wear it..
you first gotta punch digs in his face when he rocks his kelly green #3 iverson eagles jersey...that thing is so awful it might actually be cool
I read somewhere that they have to sign there NFL contract with reebok first before a jersey can be made. Dont know if that is true or not.
mines custom made so i could care less about the official release of his jersey...i was more wondering if the number hes gonna wear has been determined
Isn't it true that the player has to sign with the team before his number can be determined?
just get one with number 52. you'll be so cool. only the real fans will know.
Yeah, but who's to say that he wasn't Barry Gardner's biggest fan?
I think I may be getting myself a authentic white Bunkley this fall...

He's perfected the "I'm tough," head cocked back look, that's for sure.
I could take him.
But could Reno Mahe take him?

Out to Chick and Pete's? Certainly.
Bunkley's "Meet the Draft Picks" segment is coming up on CSN and will be replayed tonight at 10pm...
QuoteEagles | Wichard does not expect issues with Bunkley deal
Tue, 11 Jul 2006 05:53:01 -0700
Les Bowen, of the Philadelphia Daily News, reports agent Gary Wichard does not foresee any issues getting a contract done early for Eagles first-round draft pick DT Brodrick Bunkley. "I don't worry about other guys signing," Wichard said. "As long as (both sides) are approaching it logically, these deals should get done." He said no obstacles have arisen in talks toward a Bunkley deal.
with the money they have available there should not even be a sniff of a problem with any eagle draft pick
the rookie pool for signing draft picks is different than the overall available salary cap.
The "approach it logically" thing means they expect to be offered the standard cookie-cutter deal commensurate with the position where he was drafted. Unless Bunkley makes some bizarre request, or if the Eagles try to lowball him, it'll get done.
One encouraging thing is that at his position, the Eagles can still afford a little holdout without too much of a performance issue.

I remember reading in a couple spots that Bunkley was having some issues with picking up JJ's system during the spring camp(s). Not that it will relate to his contract negotiations directly, but it'll be interesting to see how he is grasping everything in camp on the 20th.
Justice is more of a concern to me than Bunkley is since he was projected to go much earlier.
Bunkley's deal will be slotted a little higher than the same pick as last year due to the increase in overall dough available but not much. The only deal-breakers I can remember are the voidable year clauses agents try and sneak in on them.
Although I do remember the Eagles acquiescing on those in the past few drafts.
Eh - whatever. They'll all get done soon enough.
Still no signing yet, but Kamerion Wimbley (one pick ahead of Bunkley) signed his deal with the Browns....6 yrs (voidable to 5), $23.7M, $9.3M in guaranteed money
Good. That's an important step.
Should get done soon, I guess.
The Eagles contacted Bunkley's agent yesterday(sat) but haven't heard back from him yet, according to the Inquirer.

Any news on this suck ass?
Yes,
He's still a suck ass.
No, his agent is kind of a suck ass, but really the Eagles are for not figuring out a middle ground with the 5/6 year issue, a la Kamerion Wimbley of the Browns.
How about 5.5 years?
how bout jumping into the sun
Impossible. No human can land on the sun.
exactly
The best I can offer is venus.
I wish we would sign this man beast already.
