QuoteAnd there you have it. No question McCoy is taking the right mindset into 2006. He played six snaps in the finale against Washington in January and says he "did OK. I made one mistake, but it didn't hurt us." He knows he has to convince the coaching staff that he is good enough to play and to do the right things on the field. To that end, McCoy has defined his body, made it a more lean 225 pounds. He is working on building his core body strength and making his feet quicker.
Super. And yes, this needed a new thread!
Thank god we have a 225 linebacker. Jesusfargingchrist.
Simoneau is probably no more than 210, despite being listed at a laughable number.
he will be a helluva special teamer before its all over...bank that
If he throws his body around with reckless abandon like advertised, great.
If he doesn't, not so great.
Besides, crackers can't play LB anyway.
Quote"I want to start and win the Super Bowl," he says. "That's my goal."
Boo yeah.
My bold prediction: McCoy will be starting by the end of the season. Of course, that's only after Barber goes down week 8 with a season ending knee injury.
That's the goal of roughly 28 million american men....and several women. Having that as a goal and fulfilling it...now that's the trick.

LBs are gtting smaller and smaller. Gone are the days of the 260lb beefeaters.
There are several very good LBs who are in the 225-235 range now.
And I think McCoy will be alright. Def. a good STs player.
I'm not holding out hope that McCoy will be some superstar stud of a WIL, I just hope the dude has enough talent and grasp of the system to supplant Barber, who will be marginal at best.
If he turns out to be any better than Adams, if only slightly, then it's fine. The D-Line will hopefully hide most of the faults.
Yeah, the undersized OLBs have been serving the Eagles really well lately..
Maybe we can get lucky and Ike Reese gets cut June 1st

Like who? Peterson and Thurman are in the 235-240 range, but everyone else is usually at least 240...
Edit: Zach Thomas is listed at 228 and Will Witherspoon is 231
Im amazed your talking about Matt McCoy...simply amazed. Oh yeah, Spads just interviewed (WR) Carl Ford and he has aspirations of winning the Super Bowl too....
This thread needs more cowbell.
I heard Andy Reid lost another 4 lbs this past weekend...ring the cowbell

mccoys height is a bigger concern than his weight....dukes is a midget...lets face it hes just not an nfl linebacker...he should be an absolute beast on special teams tho...is that what you want out of your second round pick no...but at this point lets look at his potential positives

Matt McCoy player profile (http://org-www.philadelphiaeagles.com/articles/articlesNewsDetail.jsp?id=66468)
Go Matt.
I know im going to get killed but McCoy can play, but he's too small. Once he broke down, he was completely ineffective. He'll be a good ST'er, and if he had a decent DL infront of him like he did at the beginning of the year, he'll be much more effective.
I'm not ready to give up on him yet. I like the kid. He showed good progress last year and then hit the wall, when the rest of the D started to go downhill. Those are some nice stats for playing half the year.
hahaha
i love how kent writes the 2006 review then following that is a breakdown of mccoy...and its written in all quotes...like they are interviewing a GM who doesnt wanna be indentified or a random NFC scout...but at the top is spadaro analysis
lol
relax homer
it's a pr site
settle down skippy....i said nothing about it being biased...in fact i didnt say a single thing about what spads wrote...
I like McCoy as a ST guy and maybe as a nickel LB, but the guy simply isn't capable of being an NFL starting LB. Luckily the weak side seems to be fairly secure now with Gaither, so I'm fine with McCoy as the backup.

I'm counting down the seconds until some dimwit jumps Phreak by accusing him of comparing McCoy to Derrick Brooks.

If we are lucky, McCoy will end up being a Ike Reese type player. While that is not typically what you want from a second rounder, it is pretty good.

Unfortunately, right now he seems closer to Della Reese.
Zing!
