good
that must have really stung them to do that.....give credit on this one to the fans and wip....FO was shook
very good news
Even you can't be dumb enough to think the FO was rattled by you talk radio retards.
NICE!
my god it's a miracle!
YES YES YES YES YES!
hazzah!
ha.
King got scooped, he won't be happy.
i said the fans AND wip
wip having runyan constantly on the air and pimping his resigning definitely made a difference...and the fans in general...from the ones on wip and the emb to the ones who sent email and letter complaints to the team
the FO definitely felt heat
I know you like saying stupid things just to say stupid things, but there's nobody in the world that believes this FO was pressured to resign a fan favorite.
The fans made no difference. To think they did is ES shtein.
And thank god they brought him back. Proved me wrong. Thank God.

Yeah, Just like when they wouldn't draft Ricky Williams.
The Eagles FO did something against your personal belief of how they operate & instead of crediting them, you credit the fans. Come IGY, you're better than that. :)
If you think the fanbase had a say in this, you're wrong. The Eagles started talking with Runyan right before he left for vacation and then immediately when he got back. He got his offer from the Jets to set a value, and the Eagles probably offered him as little as possible (probably slightly less than he got offered by the Jets), and only because of the fact that he doesn't feel like being a farging Jet is he an Eagle.
Thank you Runyan and thank you Eagles.
if you dont think fans make a difference in situations like this then i dont what to tell you
in this case i have no doubt they had an effect...was it the deciding factor of course not...but to say their voice didnt count is to be ignorant
lmfao at anyone who would think the fans make any difference.
This isn't DC. ::) :-D

except with PEN, no one takes them seriously yet...and they run the same stale updates 3 hours after they changed.
i like 950...but they are not breaking any stories since jody mac is barely connected in philly anymore, and the only other local show are a bunch of amateurs.
950 is horrid radio....i give it another six months before it changes formats
mikey miss would be a great addition to it tho

yeah and maybe the wiffle football will be given a second chance too
According to Eskin and Sirius, it's a 3-yr deal
No question about it, signing Runyan is far better than letting him walk. It may not make the team better than it was last year...but it does make the team better than it would have been without him this year. And that's what counts.
I would like to point out that besides Adam Caplan and Howard Eskin, no one has reported this as of yet.
I just went through the ticker on ESPNEWS, and there was nothing about it.

Runyan, also courted by the New York Jets, signed a six-year deal worth $30.5 million with the Eagles in 2000 and never missed a game during his six seasons with the team.
Runyan, 32, had said that he wanted to remain close to his home in Mount Laurel, and his first choice was to play for the Eagles.

don't forget that an offensive line with 2 new starters will take time to jell. and with the wideouts they have, hello zero coverage.
But they aren't a true "new OL". Herremans and Jackson played a lot last year with Andrews and Runyan. The only guy who they didn't get a lot of time with was Tra.
And a dedication to the running game + McNabb running more = zero coverage beaters.

good move. I'm not sure about Herremans at LG, but Jackson played well at C. The run blocking was vastly improved with him in the lineup.
Quote DON'T FOLLOW THE MONEY ...
When players say it's not about the money, it's always about the money. At least, almost always.
For once, it's absolutely true. Offensive tackle Jon Runyan faced two choices today: He could re-sign with Philadelphia, accepting the Eagles' three-year, $12.5 million contract; or he could defect to the New York Jets, who were willing to pay Runyan double the money in the first year of the contract and millions more over the life of it.
But Runyan couldn't do it. He couldn't leave the home he was building in Mt. Laurel, N.J., for the Jets' training complex on Long Island. He couldn't leave the Philadelphia market in which he felt so comfortable. And he couldn't leave behind his three kids while he commuted to Long Island.
New York general manager Mike Tannenbaum even asked Runyan in a telephone conversation today if there were any way the Jets could do anything to get the offensive tackle to agree to sign. When Runyan said no, his talks with the Jets were off and his deal with the Eagles was on.

I've already explained this. It's OK, I know you don't believe it. Why? I don't know. Since it was blatantly obvious that Jackson was a better C than Fraley and Herremans is a good player. They are both young. But they are better than Fraley and Hicks. Do you doubt that?
Thomas, andrews and Runyan are all guys who have started for awhile now.
here's what i believe...the o-line wasn't very good last season & they're bringing back the same exact guys this season. yes, they'll shuffle them around a bit...big farging deal. that's not an upgrade.
The OL wasn't good when Fraley and Hicks were in there. When Jackson and Herremans and Clarke played it was pretty good. Now they'll have Tra back too.

I know the proper grammar with quotes but dislike it, so I always put the punctuation outside if I think it works better.
If I am quoting someone, quotes go outside the punctuation. If I am emphasising a word, quotes go inside. I don't know if those jive with the official rules, but those are my rules and they rule accordingly.
Those are my rules too. And by "too" I really mean "also".
Since you used the proper spelling of "too", there was no need to explain that you meant "also".
If you used it in the context of "What are you listening too?", then you'd have to clarify... because not only would you have ended a sentence with a preposition, but you didn't even spell the preposition properly. Bang.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I just wanted to emphasize the fact that I like putting periods outside of quotation marks. And by "Yeah, yeah, yeah" I really mean "Eat my ass".
Better? :P
This move was much needed for this offseason, this should really help with their flexibility in the first round of the draft.
Kamerion Wimbley.
It's not as much that I want him as I think he's a likely target if Bunkley's gone.
I explained my reasoning in the "mocks" thread. I think the Eagles would have him 4th on their DL board behind Mario Williams, Haloti Ngata, and Bunkley. He fits the mold of what the Eagles want in a DE.
Oh, and also throw in the fact that if Jevon Kearse doesn't produce big-time this year, they probably would like to end his contract prematurely no later than before the 2008 season.
They might rate Manny Lawson as the same type of player as Wimbley too... and he might be higher on their board.

I can't believe the fact that you're pimping two 245 lb hybrid LB/DEs in the first round , yet you want no part of Tamba Hali. I've been saying they need to look at this type of player in round 3 or 4, but not round 1. If Hali slips to round 2, I'd rather have him or Darryl Tapp. There are much bigger needs in the 1st round than a smallish DE.
I like Darryl Tapp a lot, but he will go in the late 1st or very early 2nd IMO. I think Hali will be garbage on an NFL level, as I've said the whole off-season. I'm a PSU alum and huge fan, too.
Saying there are bigger needs than a "smallish" DE might be true, but picking for need is not something I see the Eagles doing. I should also throw in that if Jimmy Williams or Michael Huff happen to fall to #14, the Eagles could most certainly jump on one of them. Keep in mind that they consider DE and DB to be extremely high positions of value, probably #2 and #3 after QB.
That said, if Bunkley's there at #14, he's in midnight green. I just think he probably will be gone and the Eagles will not rate him highly enough to trade up.
we disagree about Hali.
I would say the Eagles rank O-line and D-line ahead of DB. I would agree if Bunkley's gone and WIlliams or Huff were there, the Eagles would probably take them, I would.
If the players they covet aren't there, I'd hope they would at least look at trading down and adding more picks rather than IMO reaching for a player like Wimbley or Lawson who would seem better suited to a 3-4.
troy, you are correct sir. No doubt they take either of the 2 positions. Reid is infatuated with the line pick. If we don't get a major push from a DT in the middle, the signing of Howard will be a bust for next year. The 2 positions compliment each other in a big way. Also adds to my confusion of why we didnt get one in FA, but I guess Reid is happy with his rotation? Nobody thought we were getting Andrews last year with the 1st pick, so Reid might draft a long snapper with the 1st pick for all we know.....
Just reading on NFL.com and Vic Carruci doesn't have Bunkley on his top 5 DTs...

bunkley has two ripped up knee ligaments and is a workout wonder....despite that concrete board has him as the next king of england...truth is he has no business being picked as high as he will be

He fits JJ's mold of a DT, pretty sure that's why so many people are so high on him. He'll go top 15 no doubt, and it wouldn't shock me in the least if he went #8 to the Bills.
agreed
but it doesnt make it right

Better yet the Bills take him at #8, leaves us a better shot at Ngata.

And had the best season of any DT in college football this past year...
From what ive read Lawson could excel at SAM
It plays to his athletic strength. Kid runs a 4.43 40
at 6 5 - 245
Too big, the Eagles won't even look his way unless he's moving to DE.
And had the best season of any DT in college football this past year...
not sure what that means
to me bunkley is on par with patterson maybe a little better maybe not....patterson went 31 bunkley might go top 10....thats all im saying...im not gonna go ballistic like if they took him it would be the worst pick of all-time im just saying he isnt as good as some are portraying...some people are suggesting trading up for him if thats what it takes to get him...talk like that is nuts

He played DE in college, and he'll play either DE or 3-4 OLB in the pros. No way if the Eagles drafted him that he would play linebacker.

^^^Again... listen to this man.^^^
The idea of having another 240 lb DE on this team gets me excited.
