I've been a fan of Survivor up until this season. I have wathed the Apprentice (THE Donald's version, not Martha's), but haven'treally watched much of it this season. Now there's some sh!t on there about convincing others to give you $1.5M instead of someone else getting it... TV sucks.
Does anyone really watch any of this crap anymore?

I really only watch three things on TV:
1. Football
2. Baseball
3. Hockey
I don't even watch ESPN shows anymore. Just got tired of the tabloid atmosphere fostered by DisneySports.
That's pretty much where I am now... although I have a few more shows:
(In no particular order):
Football
Hockey
My Name Is Earl
The Office
The Sopranos
My wife still watches a lot of that crap on TV (like Survivor, and {shudder} Sex In The City reruns). Which is why I waste my life on the computer surfing for midget pr0n....
I connect cable at the beginning of the football season and I disconnect it after the Super Bowl. Basically, I watch only sports..and only for the stretch of the year the NFL is under way.
Judging by the money these so-called reality shows make though, I'd say a lot of people must be watching.
I've never been a big fan of any of the so called "reality tv". It's anything but reality. It all occurs within a controlled environment and anyone who thinks that the people on these shows are showing off their true personalities and not performing in some way, shape or form for the cameras surrounding them is a freaking moron.
Has anyone seen the new "reality" show on FX.....Black/White? They take a black family and turn them into white people and go vice versa on a white family. The only problem with this show is that both families are middle class suburbanites. That's not the way to go. If you really want to make this show interesting, let's get some upper class, country club white family, make them black and then just drop them off in the middle of Harlem for like a month. And then take the most ghetto ass black family you can find, turn them white and drop them off on the Main Line. Now that would be quality entertainment.
only reality tv thats good is the surreal life. and flavor of love.
I've never been a fan of reality TV. Now that I have Tivo I watch more selectivly.
Mainly I like the new Battlestar Galactica series on SciFi. Nothing like the original. Much Darker!
After that I just tried the new Dr Who series on the same channel. Eh I'll try a few more episodes.
Daily Show is selected for when I feel like it.
After that it's probably Seinfeld reruns when they're on and whatever the kids are watching. Noggin and Boom are the awesomest...
SciFi has Dr Who now?

and flavor of love.
FLAAAVOR FLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAV!! :yay
Hunt and I used to go back and forth about reality tv. He loves it. I hate it. I used to despise it but I found a solution. Don't watch tv. Works pretty well when it comes to avoiding reality television. My problem with it that more often than not reality tv focuses on the ignorant idiots making iceholes of themselves or trying desperately to undercut others to win some sort of game. TV is supposed to be entertainment, I can see that shtein every day in my real life. Plus, I like fiction. More importantly I respect people who can create something from nothing and reality tv is so cheap to make/produce that it makes more sense for networks to put it on the air than it does for them to pay writers/actors/crew. Reality tv has cut the jobs available in the world of television significantly for that group of people because they negatively impact the bottom line for producers. So not only do I not like the content, but the deeper implications dont' sit well with me either.
There are a handful of shows I watch (actually the only shows I ever watch are Seinfeld/Simpsons reruns, Family Guy, Lost, Nip Tuck, The Office and My Name is Earl which is more than enough TV for me) but most of what I watch is espn/whatever channel is playing football/hockey.
id watch the matrix and lord of the rings movies back to back before i watched even a single hour of a reality show
tv has sucked for the better part of ten years
I watched the first season of Survivor and TRIED to watch the second one, and couldn't. The only good season was the first.
I think I just finally realized I don't give a rat's ass what happens to these people. I used to watch Survivor for two reasons: chicks in bikinis, and my wife watched every episode, so it gave me time to spend with her without having to actually say anything.
When she started watching crap like Biggest Loser and Average Joe, it wasn't worth even spending time together. So I started playing more with the kids, and doing Internet stuff... I've thought about quitting TV except for sports, but haven't quite made the step yet. I think it's just a matter of time....

do it...dont be scurred...i made the leap years ago....except for the wire and 60 minutes there isnt a show out there that i care if i ever see again
Football, Lost and the Sopranos pretty much cover it for me. But I'll watch Scrubs, Family Guy, Simpsons, Daily Show if I stumble on them. I can't really watch ESPN anymore unless I'm trying to waste time while running on the treadmill....it's gotten pretty trite.
I've become a fan of "Sons and Daughters" on ABC. :yay
Hell, even 60 minutes is aggrandized bullshtein scare tactic crap.
As RJS said, if you're gonna watch, you want to see quality. And there isn't much of that out there. The only thing I TiVo:
House
Mythbusters
Justice League.
(Don't have pay channels)
Outside of that, I watch pro football and college BB. If I'm channel surfing, I wind up on the History/Discovery channels or a movie on TCM.
The rest of TV, dramatic or comedy, sucks ripe donkey dick.

Same. Haven't watched since the very first season.
There are my shows I watch for quality drama/comedy/information... such as Lost, CSI, The Boondocks, Scrubs, My Name is Earl, Family Guy, Justice League and a few others.
But there are also shows I watch just to dumb down and laugh at for a little bit... that's where shows like "The Flavor of Love" and "Beauty and the Geek" come in.
If you don't take TV so seriously... there's some watchable stuff out there.
my TV watching is limited.
farg all reality shows...it's mindless crap. when i watch i usually only watch a handful of different shows...
House, 24, maybe one of the CSI's if i catch one from the start, and same thing for the Law and Order shows. I also like Dirty Jobs and Mythbusters, although even those i dont watch all the way through. and I like the Office.
i'll watch sports of course. but usually if it isnt the phils, or the birds, it's half assed anyway even when the phils are on...it's pretty half assed.
i may watch a smattering of other shows, but nothing regularly, and not much from beginning to end.
and tivo is wonderful...other than 24, i dont watch any of the shows i like when they originally air. i usually sit down about 20-30 minutes late...just so the tivo can go though and skip the commercials and i can get through a one hour show in about 43 minutes.
all of this anti tv talk is making mds cry
all of this anti tv talk is making mds cry
isnt he like twelve...they all love tv
Shows I watch religiously (and I mean, these are the ones that are set to record each new episode):
Lost
The OC (shut up and leave me alone, I'm a chick, I'm allowed)
The Office
Sons and Daughters
Sopranos
Invasion
I also love all Law & Order shows, but SVU and the original are the best. I will watch them whenever they are on USA or any of the 23 channels they play on. ;) I'll watch Daily Show when I can catch it and some other shows here and there when there is nothing else on.
I agree the first season of Survivor was the best - probably because no one really understood the dynamics of how to play (except Hatch, of course). After that, it's gotten pretty fomulaic.

Yea it's all updated with new CGI effects but it still maintains that B level movie sci fi feel from the pilot. I don't think I'll stick with it. I don't like TV that much and I hate to be pinned down to have to watch something every week.... Damn HBO and their Sopranos Deadwood cocktail!! When's Deadwood start up again anyway?
The Shield uber alles.
you're all way too intelligent & cool for reality tv.
now go watch family guy, nerds.

Best season they've ever had.

i'm not ashamed to admit i watch american idol whenever i can. a girlfriend a few years back used to wacth so i ended up watching with her, and now i've watched ever since. i don't stay home or make plans around it, but if i'm home and not watching anything, i'll watch it. at least these kids have some talent, unlike most reality shows.
now i'm leaving work to get drunk.

I don't put American Idol on quite the same level as I do other reality shows. American Idol is basically Star Search on steroids. I never watch the first few episodes because that's when they show all of the idiots but once they've got a talented pool of singers, I'll watch it every now and then.

Star Search (the new one) had Arsenio Hall has its host. No episode of American Idol could ever compete with the likes of Arsenio.
I was talking about Ed McMahon Star Search.
Arsenio was better. You know it, private.
