Let me preface by saying, I don't know where Gary Cobb on... *sigh*.... yes, WIP heard this, but he said from what he understands David Givens will be an Eagle.
Now I don't know if he's reading an internet rumor or heard it from sources, but that's what he said.
Thoughts?
We'll see.

Yeah, I saw that but I don't know if that's where he heard it. He used the words "I was told" if I remember correctly.
Just now when they came back from the break he said exactly "Yeah, it's going to be Givens." So it sounds like he's very sure of himself. Like Diomedes said, we'll see.
Bentley
Givens
Garthia
Barber
(RB hopefully Anderson)
That would be a helluva FA haul. I'd love it.
i still don't want Barber, but i guess anybody is better than the Dullet and Bowtie man

I agree with the first part. I think the Eagles are trying to pull another Trotter here but Barber was never at that level and it just makes me very uncomfortable to have him as a starter.
I'm not big on bringing him back either. But in discussing it with my boy at work last night we both came to that same conclusion -- he's better than Bullet and Simoneau at WIL.
But I still want a LB drafted somewhere. Gerris Wilkerson in the 3rd would be nice. He has the size to play SAM.
The Eagles need to draft a WIL who doesn't suck, not sign another speedy or oft injured LB.
if they sign another backup LB.. then who will the starter be?
i'd rather they sign moulds, and wait on another long term compliment to brown. i wouldn't cry about it if they signed givens though.
The thing I also like about Givens is that he is a young guy. This'll be his fifth year, and I think he is 25 or 26. He could be around awhile. The other thing that comes to mind is, what if Pinky isn't 100%? Most doubt he'll ever be as he was before. If nothing else, Givens would be able to slide right into that number two spot, as he did on the Pats (well I might add), and if another player comes along in subsequent years or a draft pick develops, great. Givens is not a bad addition at all. Moulds would be the best, then Givens, then ARE to fix the WR position given who is available in FA.

Then he'll be sub-mediocre instead of mediocre.
givens? meh.
If it's not Moulds, then I'm OK with Givens.
The best options are Moulds or ARE, no doubt... but Givens is a good player and much better than banking on what the team has now.
Givens is better than Randle El IMO. Givens doesn't have that speed to break a play open, but he has great hands. He doesn't drop balls and he's very physical and hard to bring down.
Give me Givens over Randle El. As for Moulds... I don't even care at this point. Moulds isn't going to be gamebreaker here either, and he probably won't do anything more than Givens would. Let's face it, Givens isn't a receiver that wows you, but who is that is out there? Moulds doesn't wow me, Randle El doesn't wow me, Jurevicius doesn't wow me. Givens is as good as anyone out there.
Id be more than happy if the Eagles obtained Givens.

Brown enjoyed a fairly good rookie year; I'm sure he's getting plenty of compliments. Moulds would complement him well though.

Well done.
Givens' stats past three years:
34/510 6TDs
56/874 3TDs
59/738 2TDs
Randal El's stats past three years:
37/364 1TD (2 punt return TDs)
43/601 3TDs (0 return TDs)
35/558 1TD (2 return TDs)
I've said all along that I would like to get ARE, specifically because he can help the offense AND the special teams, but Givens has been equally productive on a team where he was one of 4 WRs who regularly caught passes. He would be a major upgrade for the Eagles.
Randle El won't be an Eagle.
You can bet the house on that. It's either going to be Chicago or Pittsburgh.
I already bet my house on TO being felled in a hail of machine gun fire. Seemed like a lock at the time.

You would have been much better served by investing the money in a purebread dog rather than a house. Then when whoever you lost the bet to came and collected, the super smart animal would later return to you Old Yeller style.

Old Yeller = Awesome at the peanut butter trick....

This sentence made my brain cry a little.
My bad. No offensize.
Ha. Well played.

Indeed. Then again, any reciever who regularly catches the ball would be a major upgrade for the Eagles.
Agreed. As GF keeps saying, anyone of the Pats' receivers should be welcomed with open arms. The dudes never drop passes.
I agree with your agreement of not only what I said, but what GF says as well. Agreed?

Wait until they have a whole training camp with Pinkston and McMullen under their belts. They'll be dropping passes like old pros.

You don't have to be smoking Tom Brady's hog to point out here that the quarterback has a LOT to do with low drop stats.

Givens and Branch were tied for 11th in the AFC for WR's with the most dropped passes.

But some of the leaders before them are Antonio Gates, Jerry Porter & Chad Johnson. All of them are players I doubt we'd place the "ball dropper" tag on if there was a chance to sign them.
Tied for 11th?! In their conference!? Oh no!

Don't know how that got there, but searing it off with a red-hot fire poker should get rid of it.

MURP's a liar, they are tied for 12th
And he dropped 6 passes all year. Which is one every 2.5 games. I wouldn't exactly say they have the dropsies. But you know, MURP has a crush on me today, so let him take his shots.
yeah but how many of those drops would have been for first downs?
Nine.

I guess if it's a shot to point out that your comment about the Pats WR's never dropping passes was totally off the mark... then count the hoop and the harm.
