QuoteEAGLES SHOPPING THOMAS
A league source tells us that the Philadelphia Eagles are looking to trade defensive tackle Hollis Thomas.
Thomas signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 1996, and has been with the team ever since.
We haven't heard what the Eagles are looking for in exchange, but at a time when teams are playing the home version of salary cap limbo, our guess is that the Eagles will have a hard time moving him.
if they still had one hollis might be worth a 12 rounder...maybe
kinda hard to believe that someone would even write a story about a hollis thomas trade
A one-dimensional run stuffing DT should get the team no more than a 5th or 6th, right?
no way anyone gives a pick for him...to me hes a guy who comes to your camp in july and trys to win a job

I think he's more valuable as a backup then to give him up for that low of a draft pick. What this tells me (hopefully, if it's true) is that the Eagles are gauging interest in case they're able to land a decent F/A DT.
No shocker here. He could've been cut last year and I think he might've had Corey Simon signed his FT. Ever since that stuff broke last May about Hollis' contract and how he wanted more money this was likely to happen. He was a good player here and all, but this is the last year of his deal.
I figured he'd be gone this year. Him and Gras are going to get cut.
Walker
Patterson
Rayburn
Free Agent
Draft Pick
That's how it'll go, IMO.
Why Gras was on the team last year is beyond me.
The Eagles might as well cut him now. They've got more of a chance of getting something for TO than they do for Hollis.
They could also be trying to gauge interest in him to see if they can package him in a trade. With teams possibly having to dump tons of players, a guy that is decent enough to start at DT that will come on the cheap might raise an eyebrow or two.
Everyone knows the Eagles front 7 sucked last year. How dumb would a team have to be to trade a draft pick for one of them?
that makes no sense
Hollis Thomas, Reno Mahe and 14 4th round picks to Houston for their first rounder! Gitterdone!

... and he has a frickin' lip ring! No way a team goes after him with that thing!

Too bad Rick Spielman isn't the GM in Miami anymore. He might've given us a #2 pick again.

the eagles signed a sand artist so i guess anything is possible
Quote from: SD_Eagle on March 02, 2006, 08:08:04 AMWe haven't heard what the Eagles are looking for in exchange, but considering he weighs about 3 1/2 bills, our guess is that the Eagles will have a hard time literally moving him.
Right.

Too bad that's not the case for opposing centers.

And the Cleveland line sucked in 2004. They all got traded to Denver, and made the AFCCG. Your point?

Butch Davis wasn't the Eagles coach last year.

you mean Twade him?
Hollis was ok until he broke his foot. He made a comeback when he lost half a person and played great. Now hes morbidly obeses for a guy who is barely 6'0.
From Brookover's article:
QuoteExtra points. It appears as if veteran defensive tackle Hollis Thomas may not be back for an 11th season with the Eagles. A team source confirmed a report on profootballtalk.com that the Eagles are trying to trade Thomas, who has not been happy with his contract in the last two seasons
That extra 6th round pick will come in handy.

They won't even get that.
